I believe Timeranger's low sales came down to a few unlucky things 1: Toei/Bandai bought back Kamen Rider after it was on break for years which was quite hyped up in Japan and likely clash with sales (Bandai/Toei would change every new Kamen Rider Season airdate to late summer/early autumn in 2009 to stop this from happening) 2: 2000 was the boom of Yugioh, Pokemon, and Beyblade which destroy everything on the market (even Transformers). Kids were no longer after giant robots but treading cards, cute pocket monsters, and spinning tops. 2000 was also the year the Playstation 2 came out which would go down as the best-selling video game console of all time and was on many kids' XMAS lists. So yea, 2000 was a pretty tough time for Sentai in general. Thankfully Sentai would recover strongly after this for the next 15 or so years.
Don’t forget that fact that Timeranger wasn’t a kid appeal show, the story was dark and there were many things that kids didn’t understand like racism, critical illness, deaths, time paradox, ect All kind of stuff that only older viewers could understand. If kids didn’t like the show then they wouldn’t buy any follow-up toys
@@duonglohai1957 Sure, but the low number of toys in general was an issue, I'm sure the more mature storyline wouldn't have been too much of a factor if the toys were more prevalent. Look at how many toys Kamen Rider Gaim had, and it's considered to have a very mature story.
10:28 I guess the image on the Ranger Wiki is one of those toy catalog photos where the photographer didn’t know how the toy complete worked. Like when a Transformers figure would get mis-transformed in them or when a good guy action figure gets put into a bad guy vehicle (and vice-versa) in some of the photos. Or maybe the Time Shadow got retooled to omit that feature when it got localized. But those are just wild theories at the moment.
Always wanted my own Transwarp Megazord. It's a shame the US never got this set, but it looks like it would've been destined for a Toys R Us clearance endcap in 2001.
the years spent pining for this set.. Part of me feels it might be too late now (anybody else notice power ranger/sentai aftermarket prices doubling in the last decade?) but the part of me that calls Time Force the all time favourite has to add this to the collection. somehow, it must be done! Cracking overview as always, watching these is a continual joy
Great review! I'm a little upset we never got this in the states but honestly, if we had, I would have gotten bored with it pretty fast. Easier for me to live vicariously through you, haha. I'm content with the time force and shadow. Glad you finally addressed the Shadow Force Roller Skates mode. I've never had too much trouble balancing that myself but who knows. Can't wait for Wild Force! Probably easier to break down in the US toyline than Japan, where every supplementary power animal was released individually and then collected in box sets.
This has been a fun ride. I'm looking forward to the Wild Force reviews because it's a season I've never watched, so I'm essentially going into it blind.
Very well made review overall! The base playsets for GoGoV (train holding bay) and TimeRanger were not only ideal for the needed playability, but they were very accurate as well. Especially this base, that lets you recreate the 'summoning' sequence of the flyers, much like the automatic transformation of the Q-Rex. That's where this toyline stands out; even with its (necessary) flaws, it does its best to let you experience and recreate the mech action for yourself, as much as it can. It is quite unique to see that much devotion as a toymaker in this product line, even by regular Sentai standards. I may be talking too positive about these sets, but Time Force/Timeranger's line in particular left a big impact on me in terms of features, playability and accuracy. It was somewhat ahead of its time (no pun intended) and i've always found that quite fascinating.
Imagine you are working a desk job at Time Force. Doing some paperwork, allocating funds for new equipment etc. then BAM the whole building starts spinning, cabinets falling over and papers everywhere. "Looks like the Zords are being launched again. Saturday already?"
Time force was my #1 favorite toy line when I was a kid. I remember having the time force megazord, the combinable team blaster, and that was it. Then my little brother got one of those playsets, and that's how I found out about little ranger pilots. I wanted to get them all. Years later like 5th or 6th grade, I found a pink ranger but my megazords been long gone at that point.
Yo I want this so bad, I was literal baby when time force came out, and I remember it at the time and I would to get it to play with it and show my friends that like power rangers and super sentai!
i loved the show both timeforce and timeranger. i almost had all the american toys and would have loved these as part of my collection. sadly, because i was moving a lot, i lost most of my power rangers toys. if i were to start any collection, it would have to start with this one.
Great reviews! Always very thorough and in-depth 🙏 Looking forward to the next season. Wild Force is probably my favourite Zord line so, if you're covering it, I can't wait! 😊
The first and only video I saw from you was the SOC Megazord because I was checking it out. Now that I come back to this channel thanks to UA-cam algorithm, you seem happier, maybe that's just me. Your videos are always informative and retrospective. Subbed!
I would like Hasbro to do their own versions. Also, I would like them to release Nerf modulus system compatible time force ranger weapons. You know, the big giant cannons.
These are the last 2 sets I need to complete my time force collection display. Sadly looks like it'll be ages before I get them due to that heavy after market price.
hm, I actually came up with a name for the 'not really a combination but kinda fits together' of the Time Shadow and Transwarp. Shadow Warp Megazord. they don't _really_ fit together as you displayed, but I loved the name and just had to share it.
Maybe the reason why the deluxe size of Providus was never released in the US is because Bandai of America thinks the Providus's spinning gimmick is potentially harmful to children. So Bandai of America decided to make 5 inches Transwarp Megazord action figure. But I think the all of 5 inches Time Force Megazords is really cool. Probably this situation is really similar to DX Cephalazord (Dino Thunder) are never released in the US.
As much as i love time force and think its a strong season, the zord toys do lack a bit. As cool as Qrex is, i always thought it too big and simplistic. Because of its gimmick i get, but i dont like it. I can not wait for your wild force reviews. At least i HOPE youre doing wild force- my overall favorite season i think

Point 2 really highlights what a great year for toys and stuff the year 2000 was…

A robot punching a spaceship through time is just so much fun. This set looks great. Thanks for the in-depth look

Coming back to this after seeing what you said about Wild Force in your Lost Galaxy video, I think I kind of know what to expect now. 😅

CURSE my room for not being bigger. Curse my bank account for the same reason GOD I WANT THIS THING SOOOOOOO MUCHHHHH😭
Relatable 🤣
I would’ve snapped these up as a kid. Especially the play set.

TIMERANGER BRIGHTENING HOPE!!
I hope you’ll get around to wild force eventually, that season’s toy line was pretty top
Wow...that's some great engineering that they got the gimmick to work so well !
I love how the timeforce megazord actually had in scale painted power ranger minifigs.

That's cool that Time Force means that much to you

I'll summarise it once I get my head round it all, I owe you guys that much at least even if they're my least favourite Zords
This Dwight. I have time force Megaord okay love Dwight 👍
Wonderful review.
Can't wait for ninja storm zord reviews next!
I’ve got the turbo playset, Artillatron and the spd carrier. Just need Pyramidis, this set and that’s my checklist done!
I suspect the reason the playset didn’t come over was possibly cos the turbo garage didn’t sell well so they didn’t want another shelf warmer
I wouldn’t be surprised if one day Hasbro does a Time Force Megazord set. Either basic or Premium
If Habsro released a Time Force Megazord, I really want the size is the same as Hasbro Dino Megazord.
The first and only video I saw from you was the SOC Megazord because I was checking it out. Now that I come back to this channel thanks to UA-cam algorithm, you seem happier, maybe that's just me. Your videos are always informative and retrospective. Subbed!
Hey, thanks! All hail the algorithm right 🤣
I would like Hasbro to do their own versions. Also, I would like them to release Nerf modulus system compatible time force ranger weapons. You know, the big giant cannons.
I'd love to get my hands on the Time Jets, they seem dope.
Is Wild Force next? & Plus happy 20 years
These are the last 2 sets I need to complete my time force collection display. Sadly looks like it'll be ages before I get them due to that heavy after market price.
swap out electronic q rex for the 10 inch simple one, much more zord like and no barrier of electronics.
Would be kinda cool if there was a time force black(not the boom studios one) that pilots the time shadow.
I would LOVE a ZAP QRex megazord (without all of the gimmicks lol)
Where did you find the small time flyer/small ranger figures? I’ve been looking trying to find them
Did they ever establish if anyone piloted Transwarp
megazord or if it was just a sentient zord?
Time for time force
Wow~! Nice intro~!! 👍👍👍
hm, I actually came up with a name for the 'not really a combination but kinda fits together' of the Time Shadow and Transwarp. Shadow Warp Megazord. they don't _really_ fit together as you displayed, but I loved the name and just had to share it.
I got the command center only because I wanted the Ranisk figure.
I so wanted this as a kid. 😭
*Still do*
nice set, i still would like to have owned a copy of the time force megazord and the time shadow

So hyped for this one!
The transwarp megazord reminds me of orb origin or Z original from Ultraman orb and Ultraman Z.
Another great review
Time force zords felt the most robotic. 😂 just machines
Great Review !!
How much did that cost?
This over here in the uk is a very expensive set luckly I got if all for about 60£ after postage and import but
Yahoo japan sky rocketed recently
ryan can you talk about power rangers wild force in 2002 about the wild zords of the wild force megazords and the other wild zords too. from alex.
I'll do a summary video like I did for Lost Galaxy but I don't have any wild force Zords
As much as i love time force and think its a strong season, the zord toys do lack a bit. As cool as Qrex is, i always thought it too big and simplistic.
