Animators are not currently on strike, only SAG-AFTRA (actors) and the WGA (writers) are on strike! The Animation Guild’s contract ends next year. :] But I’m glad it gave you a new perspective nonetheless!!!

Meaning, when the Animation Guild’s contract ends, that’s when they’ll negotiate with their employers, and if they don’t agree, there’s a chance they may strike. Hope this makes sense 👍

10 seconds is a lot, 20 is huge. So it'd take me 2 weeks at least. More realistic is having 5 seconds per week if you're asking about work that gives you money. Thank you and good luck!
I'm an aspiring animator and this inspires me :) I'm doing GCSE art but plan to major in animation and I'll probably start an indie project or work for one!
We usually pair every frame with the character design. That is why character has to be drawn front, side, and any angle in character's sheet if needed. If the dynamic action animation, keyposes of each movement must strictly look same, then the inbetween usually not as much details-it is fine. The point is the character sheet is your foundation. And yes solid drawing also the point to keep quality better.

I LOVE seeing stuff like this, but I could never do this. I would either have a slight panic attack, or I'd overcomplicate things. I need to figure out a way to stop drawing with 23 layers, 15 of which are invisible. lol Keep up the great work you guys!

As someone interested in going into a career in animation but cannot for the life of me actually draw action, it's so cool to see alternative career options that are still in the same field of work. Cleanup animation looks like a time-consuming undertaking, but it's also so satisfying to see the finished result, and I imagine that it's even more satisfying after being the one doing the work! This was so cool to see, and I definitely enjoyed being able to see the process. Great job! This looks really good!
I genuinely appreciate your insight into the use of vector brush contrasted with linetool, I've been using both but enjoy the linework via brush more, but ultimately the linetool is better because easier to work with later. This was actually helpful because I am trying to make animations independent from a studio so now I sort of understand the process. Also it was helpful to show that clean up is better with mouse due to making lines with less points.

i always thought artists would draw curves from scratch, good thing to know that curving a straight line just works better instead. and man i should really practice using toon boom harmony more also, mega based mouse user. i'd always prefer being able to see my cursor on the screen and where the lines start and end.

Device doesn’t matter in my opinion, I’ve been using UGEE screen tablet for this video, then I moved and had to switch back to my old Wacom intuos. Now Huion sent me their Kamvas 13, so it’s just a matter of comfort
You can do rough animation anywhere you like, including just paper, but for cleanup animation it depends on the software requirements. In this case it’s possible to achieve the necessary result only in Harmony
Though I have large screen display pen, I'm still using lineart tool for cleanup since it has consistency weight and easy to control. If you use Clip Studio Paint, doing cleanup lineart in Vector Layer is a huge help as the lines are controllable, so the quality remains still. My standard studio is mostly 3.0, but rn I'm working on kid animation so the line weight must be 6.0-12.0 depending on hpw close/far character from camera.

Or there are so much lines intersecting that it can't process it / there is a lack of RAM to process it You can "break" Harmony with this if you overdo and have a lot of lines on top of each other, program won't be able to do this properly because it's not supposed to process a lot of "sketchy" lines if that's the case

There is only one line tool. If by dynamic you mean its line weight, you simply choose another way to taper the line, or create your own template. It's not a Clip Studio equivalent, it's a vector-based software. They are two different programs.
How do you get those blue lines under the black ones and still color it in as if it's all on one layer? Everytime I try it won't work with the paint bucket.
In fact it is on the same layer, you can right click on the selected line and select "arrange" and put it above or below, or just turn the option called "draw behind", there's also a tool called "stencil brush"

No, not every frame. Usually it's 1 drawing that holds for 2 frames, and it already makes things smooth enough. It would make 12 drawings per second instead of 24.
is this exact line tool in clip? and how do you access it or what is it called so I can look into it more? I do 3D modeling and I used to sketch bc I was a traditional artist but digital art has been a hard transition for me. This might help for cleaning up sketches digitally. ^-^

Can i ask how do you make the animation look solid? Like how do you make the character proportion looks the same in every frame?
Solid drawing skills - there's probably some info on that, it's an essential skill imo

I didn't realize that clean up did so much work. You might as well be ink and paint as well as cleanup.

Lead requested me to change it, probably because the animator didn't implement the change so I had to do it

You can save your wrist by switching to tablet, doing taps on the tablet instead of mouse clicks...
And you have to do this with every frame?? If I'm correct then during 1 sec there are 24 or more frames to create a fluent animation
