    Located in Inyo County, in the desert region of eastern California, in USA, Reward Mine, aka Brown Monster Mine, is a collection of mines and structures from various eras. It’s so big that you can drive a 4WD through the main tunnel of this mine. Not recommended driving into the mine. The mine is full of areas where there is evidence of collapse. This is definitely not a Sunday drive.
    Located at the base of the Inyo Mountains between Independence and Lone Pine, the mine has eight connected levels spanning over 500 feet from top to bottom. The huge central mine tunnel is large enough to drive a truck into and has dozens of large tunnels that go deep underground providing a unique opportunity to drive into the depths of a mine. The journey offers an exhilarating driving experience, with superb views. An incredible journey, an unforgettable experience. The mine is located east of the Manzanar Historical Monument a Japanese internment camp from WWII, a worthy stop. The route has humbled many egos. It’s not for the sissies and shouldn’t be attempted by novice drivers. The trail leading to the mine is steep and rocky with embedded boulders - much more so than the earlier section of trail - and requires 4WD to reach the top. This is definitely one road trip that you want to record with lots of photographs. Reward was one of many mining camps that began throughout the Inyo Mountains in the late 1800s. Reward was a very profitable mine and extracted significant gold and particularly lead ore. Mining continued at Reward until the 1970s.
    Be prepared, this road is not for the faint of heart or ill prepared. One mistake can have serious consequences. The drive is extremely dangerous and risky. There is little room for error on this road. Not recommended driving into the mine. The mine is full of areas where there is evidence of collapse. Drivers not heeding out advice use extreme caution and have contingencies. The ride is rather remote, so you need to be prepared. In case of a breakdown, there is very little in the way of passing traffic or inhabitants around, and no cell phone service in parts. Highly recommended to do it with someone else, not alone. To find the mine you will need some patience and SUV, preferable 4WD because of driving uphill on gravel road. There is no sighs how to get there. GPS location will take you to the remains of the equipment but this is not the entrance which is on other side of the hill. Once inside the mine you can park your car and do some exploration on foot. It can be a reasonably easy drive in favourable dry conditions, but also has the potential to be a very difficult muddy and slippery track and at times impassable after wet weather.
    The Alabama Hills are a range of hills and rock formations near the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada in the Owens Valley, west of Lone Pine in Inyo County, California.
    Though geographically separate from the Sierra Nevada, they are part of the same geological formation.

    Nice detailed video with a lot of shots from different angles. What was the clearance of your lowest vehicle? Do you think 8.7" is enough to make it up there?

      I would recommend 6.8-7ft taller than that you could hit something above

    I’m curious , was there a sign at the entrance to mark how many vehicles went in and what time they went in?

    • @WhatzsProduction
      @WhatzsProduction  11 місяців тому

      No sign or anything to tell if someone inside or how many vehicles you have to take your chances and hope it's empty inside 🙏

      I was asking because several month’s I made a sign when I went up there with Rn Jeep club ( the San Diego 4 Wheelers) it was a dry erase board and a orange cone . With a dry erase markers . I went there twice in a couple month period and it was still there , I was just seeing how long it lasted .

      @@scottsavoie7072we didn't see anything like that I guess someone removed it. It could help someone going inside though

    What is the total clearance required? I have a full size RAM (there is one in this video). However, I have a RTT...clearance is about 7.5' high.

      Atleast 6.9ft tall more than that I won't recommend it
