I am not Cherokee, I am not Lakota, I am not even Native American. But from what I have learned about the culture of native Americans , it was one of the most beautiful cultures in humanity, and based on respect for Mother Nature , animals, etc.
You're really right, the most beautiful and handsome culture!
Much respect for Native Americans. I also respect the Amish
do some research. You're idolizing people who were at war at all times, had slavery, torture and incest. The Cherokee had black slaves even after the Civil War.
Probably all peoples do have problems with crimes. I have travelled about through 35 countries all over the world. The most peaceful places: Lakota area in South Dakota and Mongolia.
I'm Cherokee . and love and respect to my brothers and sisters
Yea right. 0.2% right

I am a human. It makes me proud to be a human, and it brings me great joy to know that fellow humans can create such beautiful music and imagery.
Ha ha
Cool, I'm human, too. What a coincidence. Great meeting others of my species. :)
I'm Abenaki, my maternal grandfather was Lakota, this song awakens my emotions, it's super pretty
My son's Father is Abenaki ! Me I am part Cherokee and Blackfeet .
@@debbienichols5860 sorry if it's too personal, Nichols is that your maiden name? I ask because that's one of the chosen Surnames many Cherokee in the South East chose. And if so, we are cousins, but even if not, we are still cousins.
Very beautiful 💙🇺🇸 The music and vocals are amazing.
I’m Scottish Canadian but I have to say this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. ❤
I wish the whole earth could hear this song ❤️🧡💛🖤
This song brings tears to my eyes, no matter who sings it. I know the lyrics are to soothe a son to sleep, but I imagine a mother singing it to her dead son to comfort herself during deep grief. It grips my heart and I feel connected to it. I am descended from Siouan & Algonquin speaking ancestors and appreciate the traditions of our ancestors language continuing through music.
Lullabies with terrifying or tragic content were often used to deceive some (super)natural evil (a decease, for example). "The child is dead or soon will be, nothing to look here, pass away" -- was the message. This tradition is more or less international and has place in such time period when child's death was usual thing due to undeveloped medicine, so everything you could do to defend your kid was done.
Just lost my son.
Yes, he is safe in Creators Beings.
I fear no more for him.
I will learn this song to sing to ease my pain & dry my tears.
Yes, had a war song to send both my songs into military ( of their own choosing). Will us mother ever stop crying ?
I lost a warrior daughter. She was amazing. How do I sing her song? Her father was Apache, and I am white. He died before. Help me, please?
Thank you for your words
Love this song I am Lakota Dakota Sioux and just wanted to say...in our native calture women do not wear the headdress...it's vary disrespectful to our men...it's a big no no!!! Just wanted to let you know!!! Mitakuye Oyasin
What is the song about ? I am not Lakota Dakota Sioux but I am a Indigenous from Mexico . I don't know my ancestors original tribe. but I do have a friend that's from one of the last few big tribes in North America it's called the Purepecha tribe. I like to keep my self close as possible to my roots. learning the ways of life and what they believed. Thank you for sharing ! btw . I am always happy to hear songs like this. I don't know the language but I feel connected some how , I don't know what it is .
@@lucyrenteria8734 your connected to the music because of your roots...before borders before the European/Spaniard came here we had no borders.. with that being said your ancestors were native and that blood runs threw your veins..in Mexico alone there is over 500 dialects of Spanish and that's because some native languages are mix with the Spanish...you are indigenous native as I am an indigenous native
@@lucyrenteria8734 the song it's says conte waste hoksila ake istima and that means good hearted boy go back to sleep
Hanhepi ki waste means the night is good.
@@lucyrenteria8734 your deffenitly connected you said your from Mexico...if you look at your indigenous foods and our foods it's the almost the same...the 3 sisters corn, beans and squash...but also tortillas for instance you make them as we do to but we called it flatbread your native through and through just like me

This beautiful music touches my heart and immerses me in a world of peace and serenity. The gentle sounds and the sensitive melody take me on a journey of inner harmony. Thank you for this brilliant piece of music!❤❤❤🎶🎵🎼
I am peoria indian. In recent years i have become attuned to the ways of my people and native peoples of all tribes! Our relationship/understanding of the great spirits earth and our place in it is a special bond! i hope all the worlds peoples may some day come to learn as i have that once we understand our world and what it truly means then we can learn to understand one another and dwell in peace and harmony as was intended by our creator peace and prosperity to all who read this❤
Even this irish/czech/hungarian/Sioux has found that same path...and has shown his children...
Do you guys know who you are
Hi Good morning am a Nigerian who has no single ties outside africa but since the day i listened to this lullaby in the movie the last manhunt i dont understand the native american language even for a second but i have been humming this song for more than a week this your culture and way of life is so fascinating i even got too know about the tales of the great Chief Sitting Bull and the Wounded knee massacre to cap it all the song really calms my whole mind and body
The language is Lakota, a people that live on the Northern Great Plains. Approximate translation: Go to sleep good hearted boy, the night is good.
Absolutely so proud to be a person who knows you with total respect. Both my sons Absolutely too.
@@martaholmes4287 thanks
The language is actually Lakȟótiyapi, my first language. And we have not ever willingly called ourselves "Sioux" as you'll see often here. "Sioux" is an Algonquin (ancestral enemies, hundreds of years of war) for "enemy" or "little snake in the grass". The word Lakȟóta, our name, actually translates to "ally". we are 7 allied Tribes. My father is from one, Huŋkpahpa, my mother from another, Oglála, so I am Huŋkpahpa and Oglála Lakȟóta.
There is so much misinformation about us, online and off, and it's really sad, but here's some actual information. Best I could do with the energy and time I have.
Much love from the Lakȟóta O'yaté (O'yaté--Nation)
tokša akhé!
(my People's way to end speaking to someone - it literally translates as "later, again,' or basically, "see you later/again," which we say even if there's absolutely no chance you'll ever see, let alone speak to each other again. There's a big undertone in saying tokša akhé, as we are also wishing the other the best Travels upon their Life Path, giving our grace, a bit of our energy for their highest good, and our personal and ancestral blessing. we don't have a word for goodbye that doesn't mean someone is literally at death's door or within 3 nights of their passing. (after 3 days, we return to speaking about them in the present tense because we believe very strongly that they are with us just as much as they always were, just differently now, spending more time on the Great Plains. (where our ancestors go after we die - if you've seen Black Panther, the scenes with T'Challa meeting his ancestors is such an incredibly accurate depiction of the Great Plains that I was shook when I first saw the second movie, especially. I swear they met someone Lakȟóta and directly put their description on screen; then again, us Indigenous Peoples everywhere, whether North America, Siberia, Australia, or Africa, share more than we could ever express, including many of our origin Stories and so many traditions. As many differences as you can find, you will find almost as many similarities.)
Thank you if you read this far! In my Culture, (I'm Oglála and Huŋkpahpa Lakȟóta) the Council of Elders Names people different titles with different responsibilities and duties and honors that come with each. A more modern title we have now is Culture Keeper, as well as Language Keeper, as our Culture and Language, Lakȟótiyapi, are both critically endangered due to a continued genocide, Culture and otherwise. The average age of Lakȟótiyapi Speaker is 70, and the life expectancy on my mom's Rez is 55 for women, 45 for men, a lot because of how often we're murdered or "disappear". We're literally not statistically supposed to live long enough to Speak. I was raised by an Elder and what you'd know as a Medicine Man/Shaman (my tunkasila, my grandfather).
Mitáku'ye o'yásíŋ
(Lakȟótiyapi saying amongst my People, the Lakȟóta O'yaté (O'yaté--Nation)meaning meaning "we are all related" - the sacred Lakȟóta belief that all things are one and should be loved and treated with the respect deserving of that fact. It is said at the end of communications and otherwise as a reminder in general and to the person(s) we are communicating with the respect, kinship, and care put into everything we do as we live by this, and a reminder that this is especially kept in mind when interacting with others. ✊🏽)
Very Beautiful Native American Music I'm proud to be a Native. The words are speaking the truth how we respect Mother Earth

This is lovely. I am a Scot. I believe some of my fellow countrymen integrated into the Cherokee tribes and went with you on the walk of tears. So many politicians could learn the governance and wisdom your forefathers created

Hello 👋 how are you feeling today??
At my last Ayahuasca ceremony, sacred medicine decided to connect me to the Sioux tribe. It was a very profound experience. Aya showed me that I had come to work from Love and with Love by asking me to help the souls of many of the murdered tribal women and children to return home to pure Love. The feeling cannot be described because it is very sensory. I felt great gratitude to Aya, a connection to the tribe, and lots and lots of love.
I gotta try that stuff. Under supervision of course. Might connect me to the wrong spirits.

May we someday find forgiveness for failing to understand the deeper injury caused to their culture, language, world, and spiritual beliefs.
There is a special place in the life to come for those who've suffered at the hands of a cruel victor - and also a special place for those who've refused to recognize the value of a great people.
Those of the past have gone now.
The earth, just as the Lord, recognizes the heart of a person, and nothing else.
We are walking the same land. Breathing the same air. Seeking the same peace.
We are color blind - blinded by colors.
Spirits live in the far beyond - without the burdens of fleshly concerns.
Some people belong to industry, expansion, corportate interests, and laws passed to favor money - others walk the earth as part of the earth, not owners of the earth.
My friends and I belong to the earth, the sky, the seas, forests, deserts, and accept as brothers and sisters those who walk and look different than than mankind.
Everything has a message. All things, living or not, have a lesson to share for those willing to listen, see, and understand.
From a distant star, to a clam buried in the deepest seas, all things teach, learn, share, and have a word.
