During the pandemic, I had a major throwback of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s boy bands. I realized that most of the boy bands I remembered and enjoyed are from the US, the UK and Ireland. Here's what I learned: First: the boybands that form the big three from these eras are the New Kids on the Block, The Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. What is interesting here is American audiences have zero to very limited knowledge of the British and Irish boybands. Two: Code Red, Westlife, Five, 911, Point Break, Ott, Boyzone, Take Five. to name a few are among those boy bands considered to be forgotten. Third, there are many more boy bands throughout the world that didn't go to the international market but rather stayed within the domestic market. 90s Kpop was started by two rival boybands H.O.T. and Sechskies. Latin America has multiple boy bands like the 90s incarnation of Menudo,. In Europe Poland has its own Backstreet Boys called Just 5 and so did Germany which had US 5. Jaoan too has more than a hundred. Fast forward, times are different now. South Korea is now the major exporter of boy bands and ASEAN has its own roster of boy bands. Nevertheless the 90s was a golden age for boy bands. These years will be forever missed. Question is, where are they now. the members of Code Red? I tried looking for them on social media but found no trace of them.
