Hey Jordan JMS Drums, this is a great drum cover. I think it's important to make an observation about your performance, why it's so effective and musical and grooves so well, and I see that nobody has made this comment yet. I'm a seasoned drummer but have more recently been humbled by recognizing the importance of something in playing the hi-hat that previously I've often neglected. Drummers, please take notice of the accents and how the drummer handles them well, this can make or break the groove of a song. Drumeo has a good transcription of this song, played originally by Travis Nunn, and well covered here by Jordan JMS Drums. During both the verses and much of the pre-chorus there is emphasis on the offbeats on the hi-hats. In all humility I found it's harder than it looks to play this cleanly and consistently. I'd argue this is the primary reason this drummer really grooves with this cover, well played!
@@drphilosopherdrummer Wow. Thank you so much for your kind words. That means a lot. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my channel! How long have you been playing my friend!?
@@JordanJMSDrums Chuckle, I started playing decades ago when I was a kid, then in my early twenties mostly put the drums aside until it was time to inspire my oldest son to play about twenty-four years ago, and have stayed with playing more seriously since that time.
Hey Josh! I have found that dropping the key often helps to break up the drum tones from the recording, so when I record overtop my parts shine through.
@Jordan JMS Drums I think it's the corny lead that really had me and most my congregation not enjoying this song. The rest of it has fun structure. It's just that lead that sounds out of place.
QUESTION FOR YOU:
Do you use Patreon? Is this something that you personally find appealing or beneficial to you?
That Sweet Bliss crash is something serious!
Absolutely beautiful song and you did an excellent job here 👏👏👏

Thanks for joining the crew! How did you find the channel!?
How can you do that with singing? Brilliant drummer!
Super solid cover bro!!
I'm curious tho, what made you want to lower the key?

@@JordanJMSDrums Very interesting.
Musically, This is my least favorite worship song.
Why is that?
