boom (v.) mid-15c., bomben, bummyn, "buzz, hum, drone, make a deep, hollow, continuous sound" (earliest use was in reference to bees and wasps), probably echoic of humming. The meaning "make a loud noise, roar, rumble, reverberate" is from 15c. Compare bomb. The meaning "to burst into prosperity" (of places, businesses, etc.) is by 1871, American English. Related: Boomed; booming. Boom box "large portable stereo cassette player" is attested from 1978. boom (n.1) "long pole," 1640s, specifically, "long spar run out from a ship" (1660s), from Scottish boun, borrowed from Dutch boom "tree, pole, beam," from a Middle Dutch word analogous to German Baum, English beam (n.). As "movable bar for a microphone or camera," 1931. boom (n.2) "loud, deep, hollow, continued sound," c. 1500, from boom (v.). Compare boondi, an Aboriginal word for waves breaking on a beach (source of Sydney's Bondi Beach), said to be imitative of the sound. boom (n.3) "sudden start or increase in commercial or other activity," 1873, sometimes said to be from boom (n.1) in the specific nautical meaning "a long spar run out to extend the foot of a sail" - a ship "booming" being one in full sail. But it could just as well be from boom (n.2) on the notion of "sudden burst." The verbal sense "burst into sudden activity" seems to be slightly older (1871). Boom town is from 1883. The economic cycle of boom and bust has been so called since 1937. Entries linking to boom bomb (n.) "explosive projectile," originally consisting of a hollow ball or shell filled with explosive material, 1580s, from French bombe, from Italian bomba, probably from Latin bombus "a deep, hollow noise; a buzzing or booming sound," from Greek bombos "deep and hollow sound," echoic. Thus probably so called for the sound it makes. Originally of mortar shells, etc.; modern sense of "explosive device placed by hand or dropped from airplane" is from 1909. The meaning "old car" is from 1953. The meaning "success" is from 1954 (late 1990s slang the bomb "the best" probably is a fresh formation); opposite sense of "a failure" is from 1961. The bomb "the atomic bomb" is from 1945. Compare shell (n.). beam (n.) Old English beam, "living tree," but by late 10c. also "rafter, post, ship's timber," from Proto-Germanic *baumaz "tree" (source also of Old Frisian bam "tree, gallows, beam," Middle Dutch boom, Old High German boum, German Baum "tree," and perhaps also (with unexplained sound changes) Old Norse baðmr, Gothic bagms). This is of uncertain etymology (according to Boutkan probably a substrate word). The shift from *-au- to -ea- is regular in Old English. The meaning "ray of light" developed in Old English, probably because beam was used by Bede to render Latin columna (lucis), the Biblical "pillar of fire." The meaning "directed flow of radiation" is from 1906. To be on the beam "going in the right direction" (1941) originally was an aviator's term for "to follow the course indicated by a radio beam." The nautical sense of "one of the horizontal transverse timbers holding a ship together" is from early 13c., hence "greatest breadth of a ship," and slang broad in the beam, by 1894 of ships; of persons, "wide-hipped," by 1938. baby boom *bheue- boomlet See all related words (5) > Share boom
I think it's the former. These kids are all very popular. I'm seriously wondering what you mean. . . because the graphic is a peace sign? Or the video itself? The Supreme videos are all very popular, and they have a similar aesthetic. . . Bill is the one who created the last gen team, which basically made FA into what it is, arguably the most popular/successful brand out. I know it's plenty popular to hate on Bill, I get it, but in terms of real-world results, I think he's proven himself. I mean, right?
@@-regular-james- Both the overall art direction and the filming style, to a certain extent. A non-descript, 90s retro peace sign is incongruent with some of their other graphics, like the lil kim photo. The latter being reminiscent of something supreme would do, but I think made a little corny with the cartoon bubbles. The filming has obviously been influential, and you can see the backlash against it even in these comments. It's coventional and a little stale at this point, although I personally like it. My point being is I'm not sure what it all adds up to. Kinda seems like they just are throwing things at the wall. Like I said, I could be out of touch. They also have a trans rider and could be aping after some queer aesthetic I'm not picking up on.
@@tomas746Those are all fair and thoughtful points, and I’ve wondered about some of them myself. Bill is definitely getting a lot of hate these days. . . but I think Kader signing on says something about the crew’s belief in the brand. I mean, people can say what they want about Play Dead, but these kids fucking rip. And at the end of the day, who skates for a company matters the most. I also think Bill probably does know what the zoomers like, considering he hangs out with them a ton (another thing he gets hate for). We’ll see, I guess. I do think the current generation loves that 90s shit, and us older heads (I’m assuming you’re older, sorry if I’m off there) that think certain things are played out and corny might be due to the fact we’ve seen it all before; gen Z hasn’t. I feel like Bill probably asks them if they like the graphics first, but he’s also selling bedazzled shirts for teeny-bopper girls, so who knows. You might be totally right here.
@@-regular-james- I’m definitely old lol. No for sure, I hope it works for them. I’m not surprised Kader signed on for something like this because now a days being really good at skating is not as rare as it once was. You need someone to package it right and market it correctly if you really want to go far with it. Bill is definitely a dude to do something like that.
@@tomas746 For sure. And I’m old too, lol. To your point, Kader has said that Strobeck makes him “look the best in videos” in the past, so definitely not a surprise he’d sign on. But he is giving up something that’s a guarantee; Baker has weathered all the changes, and is still one of the top brands, so… we’ll see?

"explosive projectile," originally consisting of a hollow ball or shell filled with explosive material, 1580s, from French bombe, from Italian bomba, probably from Latin bombus "a deep, hollow noise; a buzzing or booming sound," from Greek bombos "deep and hollow sound," echoic.
Compare shell (n.).
beam (n.)
Old English beam, "living tree," but by late 10c. also "rafter, post, ship's timber," from Proto-Germanic *baumaz "tree" (source also of Old Frisian bam "tree, gallows, beam," Middle Dutch boom, Old High German boum, German Baum "tree," and perhaps also (with unexplained sound changes) Old Norse baðmr, Gothic bagms).
To be on the beam "going in the right direction" (1941) originally was an aviator's term for "to follow the course indicated by a radio beam."
The nautical sense of "one of the horizontal transverse timbers holding a ship together" is from early 13c., hence "greatest breadth of a ship," and slang broad in the beam, by 1894 of ships; of persons, "wide-hipped," by 1938.

Babe wake up bill droped new video
I can’t wait till we live in a world where people don’t comment this on every UA-cam upload. Cringe levels are off the charts
@@Spotlessmind20 let him wake his boyfriend up 😂
Either Bill is much more attuned to zoomer aesthetics than I am or this shit ain’t gonna work out long term
