just so you know, there is a difference between the numark dashboard and the NS7II screen upgrade. they are NOT the same. i learned that the hard way. Dashboard is compatible with all serato dj gear, the NS7II screen is only compatible with the NS7II. so when and or if you do decide to buy it, just make sure it is the Dashboard and not the NS7II.
it'd be great if there was a computer processor and software in here so it ignores the need for a laptop all together. Have a slot for a USB and a stripped down version of Serato to give any setup screens to see all your music. For the price of this screen you could get a real laptop that could just about run Serato on, so just building a basic system into a similar box probably wouldn't be that hard. it wouldn't even need much internal storage if it's devoted to running Serato or other DJ software as most people would have music on a USB/HDD anyway
Traktor just needs one with touch screen qwerty keyboard. Game over!
Great gear ! Same as you, Mojaxx, I consider it is important to focus more attention on the controllers and gears, and the crowd of course, instead of having the laptop in between that parasites your connection with the dancefloor ! Good tool !
Gosh, I wanted to get an FX controller soon for Serato, to feature next to my DDJ-SB2, but hey, I recently found out a 'bug' in the system, giving me a LOT of more functions on that device leaving an additional fx-unit left in the dark. So I kind of left the idea of adding new stuff to my DDJ-SB2 setup. Then I found this thing, which actually was hooked up to a friends NS7II, who bought the Numark Display for his NS7II because he didn't want to spent big bucks on a NS7III. And then I found this video. I'm thinking strongly of getting it. I stream music while performing a (live)set via online radio a lot. Always got my PC turned on with both monitors on. But then I have to look away a lot. This display device gives me the option to turn off my monitors and just use this to perform better. Also when performing on a party or wedding, this is epic ! Then I can close the laptop lid :)

calvin smith hahaha! this is so dam true. no one in the crowd ever knows what the hell we are doing. I can hit a cue 100x with the volume all the way down and ppl will say that was a dope mix meanwhile is a regular vinyl version song lol

I'm all for a product like this. I love the screens on my S5, they're a godsend, but I don't think I could justify spending an extra $300 for it on top of whatever I've already spent on my setup.

This plus a DDJ-SZ, total heaven for a bedroom setup. I highly doubt Pioneer will put out a XDJ-RZ so this would probably be the closest! Too bad it doesn't work with Traktor :(.

I love the product and every real dj should ..I really want a mixer that gets the computer out completely like the mixer that qbert was designing some years back that I guess never hit from thud rumblers ..the dj now a days is missing the meaning and the feeling of being a dj when they got there face stuck behind a computer screen ..I love the serato and programs like it for the fact you ain't got to carry thousands of records no more or the fact that you might forget a record that was in your set and that through off the performance ..but as a dj you want to have the crowd see you and you see them..nothing blocking your movements ..the feeling you get after you shread a mix and the crowd gets all hype and you look up the feeling is indescribable ..dj are losing the connection with the crowd, ppl aint even knowing who the dj is cuz they never see them ..its wack ..I'll use the serato make all my bells and whisles and effects before the show save that shit and then its just a matter of selecting what I saved and doing my thing I'm not trying to run through looking for new effects and ish when I'm performing ..feel me thats why I practice and make routines so its set and the crowd can see me ...I love that product

Has anybody tried using this with Pioneer Rekordbox? I would like to know before I spend the money on this unit.

Just do a google search! I bought a Korg Kaoss Pad without a power supply, googled it & found one on ebay!

I think Native Instruments would quite happily sell you a pair of D2s if you want screens by your controls... ;)

lol only solution for DVS DJ's not to stare at any screen is simply go back to the roots of playing REAL vinyl....
you don't stare at the laptop screen, but you look at the smaller screen. same shit
U don't see him starring at the screens... When u mix on cdjs they don't see you starring at the screens, you're starring at your kit. Starring at a laptop (exception to performance djs/artists) looks like you're just watching cat videos
