  • Video discusses how while the intensity between the psychological thoughts for cigarettes weeks or months into your quit may feel very much like the physical urges you may have encountered in the beginning of your quit, that there is an important difference in the two states.

    I believe I owe you my life. Around a year and a half ago I started watching your videos and the things you were saying made sense to me in a way that nothing else ever had. Because of your methods, I haven't had a puff on a cigarette for more than a year and a half. Thank you :)

    Hi Joel
    In the end of the day I did not take first puff...been smoke-free for almost 1 year. I still get scared of my triggers but I go back to basics wherein I do it one day at a time. Thanks for the videos. They help reinforce my quit.

    what a beautifull explanation , man! you are so intelligent that you have solved almost many of my problems and bad habits with this video

      Hello again Syed:
      I wrote you a response a few minutes ago to other issues you raised on one of my other videos. As far as for your comment here, I am glad that this video help "solve" many of your problems, although in fact the video didn't solve anything but rather helped you to understand some of the effects that smoking and quitting caused. That understanding can assist you in solving the problems posed by smoking--that solution is of course quitting smoking.
      I believe that the more people understand about smoking and quitting, the less fear they will feel regarding the prospects of really breaking free from the grip that nicotine exerts on them. The page whyquit.com/joels-videos/fears-regarding-smoking-and-quitting/ explores how irrational fears keeps many people from quitting and how what are really rational and legitimate fears regarding smoking are often ignored allowing people to continue ingesting products that are ruining their health and over time potentially costing them their lives.

      One thing I want to make sure of is that you are totally off of nicotine and any kind of quit smoking medication. If this is the case then the following resources touch on different issues that may be at play:
      whyquit.com/joels-videos/going-back-to-normal-after-quitting/
      whyquit.com/joels-videos/resources-regarding-mental-health-issues/

      whyquit.com/joels-videos/medication-adjustments-that-may-be-necessary-after-quitting-smoking/
      If this is not the case let me know and I will steer you to other resources that may be more applicable.

      @joelspitz  6 років тому +3

      Hello Momma Dee:
      Good to see you again. Knowing your an addict is key to keeping your quit going. It is people who can't accept this concept that have problems sustaining their quits. To keep this quit going is really as simple as continuing to stick to your personal commitment to never take another puff.

      Hello Miami Thekid19:
      Congratulations on 18 days. As far as for your ongoing symptoms, especially the difficulty in swallowing you should get them checked out by your doctor. Writing off physical symptoms to simply having quit smoking is very problematic. The following pages address this issue:

      As far as for anxiety issues, the following pages address various mental health issues including anxiety:

    Hi 😊 iv been smoke free for 32 days ....would I be over the physical affects of nicotine withdrawal by now? And it's just physiological ?

    • @joelspitz
      @joelspitz  6 років тому

      Congratulations on 32 days Kathryn:
      Nicotine withdrawal is over and many of your body patterns should have for the most part returned back to normal. The issue sometimes though is what is normal. The page whyquit.com/joels-videos/going-back-to-normal-after-quitting/ addresses this issue.
      Also, physical symptoms that may be happening may be caused from other issues and not be written off to withdrawal. Check out these pages on those concerns:
      whyquit.com/joels-videos/does-nicotine-withdrawal-really-last-for-months-or-years/
      whyquit.com/joels-videos/is-this-a-symptom-of-quitting-smoking-part-2/

      whyquit.com/joels-videos/resources-regarding-mental-health-issues/

    • @joelspitz
      @joelspitz  6 років тому

      Almost forgot, need to point out that withdrawal would be over for anyone who is "nicotine free." Sometimes people using nicotine replacement products will write about being "smoker" and ask this same question and the answer would be a whole lot different. These pages address that issue:
      whyquit.com/joels-videos/nrt-and-quitmeters/
      whyquit.com/joels-videos/comparing-quitting-smoking-experiences-with-others-on-youtube-blogs/

    Im afraid I will never be free of “those thoughts that may occur after months or years”. Is that even supposed to happen, or is it normal after all that time? It’s scaring me that I will never be free mentally, even after the physical withdrawals and that kind of long period of time.

      Congratulations on your 40 day quit fahri berbatovci . As far as for the symptoms that you are now experiencing, it is no longer prudent to be writing them off to simply having quit smoking. Check out the page whyquit.com/joels-videos/life-goes-on-without-smoking/ that address why it is best now to get checked out to make sure that there is not some other problem causing your symptoms.
