One of the reasons I love Sisters so much is that unlike other franchises, GW didn't take the easy way out by simply making them "Spess Merines, but gurrls!". The Sisters have some really cool lore, history and abilities that is distinct and separate from the Astartes. No superhuman muscles or genetic implants, but they have powers that are exclusive to them (acts of faith, miracles, living saints, etc) that no one else has! And by having them act as the military arm of the Church, they fit perfectly into the lore in a way that actually adds to the worldbuilding. GW made the right move when it came to creating the Sisters. The only criticism I have is that they need to feature them more! Have them appear in more books and games!
Agree whole heartedly. As in depth as this video is it still was just an overview that only touched on some of the deep lore of the Sororitas. Just learning about all the different types of chapters and their histories is so fascinating to me. I want so much more in books and games too!
42:20 Luetin forgot to mention but this is also where the white hair from the Order of Our Martyred Lady (Black armoured sisters) came from. Sister Alicia Dominica was the one to walk into the throne room and when she walked back out her hair had changed to snow white, presumably blasted from the pure psychic power the Emperor exuded while they chatted. She would then return to the siege and proceed to lop off Vandire's head with a new vigor. So in honour of the founder of their order and how blessed she was that day, every sister of the Order of Our Martyred Lady dye their hair snow white like Alicia to emulate her and to display that like her, they as well are blessed by the Emperor in all they do.
One of my favorite passages of any of the warhammer 40k lore was in Baldemort's narration of the Fall of Cadia "The sisters felt neither pain nor loss, for Celestine's presence was both a balm and a spur to holy madness" It gave me chills
@Pragabond because it's one of those times when two words you'd never think to hear together fit so perfectly in the setting. I heard "holy madness" and thought of the sisters in just pure zealous rage. Kinda like when Olly Piers stood against Angron. Just sheer badassery coming from the ordinary folk of the story. Yeah the sisters aren't ordinary, but they are just human. It just hit me, ya know
sorry to correct you but the tyranid next to the titan is a bio titan, most likely a hierophant or a mawlock. The swarm lord is about 3x the size of a terminator and is a varient of the hive tyrant. It is incredably rare for a swarm lord to appear as a normal tyrant is ussually enough to direct the attacks
The art at 23:21 is from the Siege of Vraks. It is a very very very VERY long story about the Death Korps of Krieg fighting a city for 20 years. The guys in the picture are a religious cardinal and his evil advisor tricking him into becoming the bad guy. So he' just whispering into the guys ear, and nothing else.
Sisters are what got me into the model side of 40k.. if you want a great book to read that heavily features the Adepts Sororitas and especially the reality of Celestine try the novel Shroud of Night, which also features the most loyal of the Emperors servants (other than the Custodes). It takes place shortly after the Cicatrix Maledictum, and features a good look at the chaotic warbands too. Hydra Dominatus
I thought I sent a comment but couldn't find it. Anyway, at 5:10 that's a bio-titan named after their mission which is to counter enemy titans. There is only 1 swarmlord, and while he's big he's only around 20feet (the smallest titans are around 50 feet). Kerp up the reactions, I love seeing new people learn the lore❤❤

My favorite sister is Ephrael Stern. She basically had a crap ton of sisters souls absorbed into her giving her crazy powers, became best friends with an eldar, and is hunted and sometimes aided by the inquisition. Depending on who is interacting with her they either see her as a saint, or a heretic. but she is completely loyal to the emperor. it gives her a lot more personality than a lot of sisters get. Miriael Sabathiel is interesting too. she is the one confirmed chaos corrupted sister running around the universe. basically got tortured by dark eldar until slaneesh offered her power and revenge. she is mostly just hunting dark eldar these days. And The leader of the sisters Morveen Vahl is awesome too. basically granted a high seat on the council with the intention of making her a puppet... and she immediately turned around and declared a crusade."
@@TwentyTwoHya you are doing better than i did when i started! You are doing great. Just keep being you and enjoying the setting and it'll all be good!

SoB are one among my favorite factions in 40k. There's even a specific sister of battle who is very close friends with a Eldar who's a former Harlequin. That specific Sister of Battle is Ephrael Stern who was mention in this video, and that former Harlequin's name is Kyganil. And they're basically inseparable to one another. Its interesting because its one of the few interspecies relationships in 40k.

the sisters in practice are what the space marines were supposed to be, minus the religion and augmentations. Honestly IF i was living in 40k(which no one ever should want too) i would rather fight along side the sisters rather than a space marine due to simple fact that i know a sister would actually care if i survived or died, where as a space marine that would only happen if its a salamander (which statistically it probably wont be).
Don’t worry that you’re not a gigafan of the Space Marines. They’re not the most interesting part of the lore, they’re just the biggest selling minis. The Guard, normal men and women armed with small arms, staring down the horrors of the universe and hell, is where it’s at. That’s the good stuff.
Not gonna lie and it may sound stupid, but 40k has legitimately helped me get more in touch with my faith. It fills me with joy when I witness characters like the Sisters carry out acts and feats that should be impossible, like praying so hard that daemons begin to hiss in pain and veer away from them. They can only do these things because they believe with *every fibre* of their being that their god wouldn't expect anything less of them and you're lying if you say you can't find the idea inspiring. They do it for a god they've never seen or heard before, yet have such zeal that they can face down and kill literal demons all because "A simple demon is nothing before the god I serve, so why wouldn't I face it down? Is it not inferior?" Yes they're fictional but I couldn't help but draw parallels and ask myself why I'm not as devout in my faith. So here I am, slowly but surely improving, praying, focusing and getting where I want to be. I'll always cherish 40k for this little nugget of influence alone, no matter what. Anyways thank you for listening to my random ramblings and remember, the Emperor protects :)

"4,000 miles into the sky" .. probably meant meters, not miles. That's still tall.. but 4,000 mile hives? That would take a vast chunk of a planet to create. The bottom of this structure would settle into the mantle, change the rotation of a planet and make it wobble like a spinning top slowing down. 90,000 square miles is a square of 300 miles x 300 miles, so that's not a goofy figure and is smaller by magnitudes than the palace on Terra... which takes up a continent.
