CEMENT IMPORTERS CRIES OVER THE HIGH TAX CHARGES OF IMPORTING CEMENT TO THE GAMBIA.

On Saturday 20th April, 2024, the Gambia Cement importers and traders association gathered at the Farafenni border post (KERR ALI) to express their dissatisfaction of the cement custom duty price increment.
As we conduct interviews to some of them they said they were paying D30.00 per cement bags and D30,000.00 per truck at the custom, which is now D180.00 per bag and D170,000 per truck which they can't pay, the price was increased without any official notification from authorities concern.
Due to the high price increment, over 100 trucks loaded with cement bags are parked between the Senegal and Gambia border.
The cement importer calls on the Gambia Government to look into this matter and leave the custom price as it was.
