Hey Woody, I hope you're going to do a Part 3 to this review. As you probably know, finding a Numa X in the music shops really isn't easy. I'm dying to hear about how the action works for playing piano patches, and for other playing.
I have had the Numa X Piano GT since January and it’s a joy to play. The acoustic pianos took some getting used to, but they’re very lively with a lot of the nuances you find in real acoustic piano sounds. The action, however, is simply sublime, and I use mine with Native Instruments Noire for an absolutely superb playing experience.
This sounds surprisingly good! But I’m sure your astonishing playing skills is an essential part of this impression! Especially liked your Peter Gabriel and Bruce Hornsby performance 👏🏻
So good! I have the Numa x 88. Even for those sounds I really dont care about, you allways find the right peace and play it accordingly . 👏👏 It sounds good, and I find it surprising that in many situations this pianos and E. pianos fit better in a mix than the Nord ones, or even better than some software pianos.
That was awesome!!! I feel like I went through time travel and got to revisit so many great memories! Thank you for such a great demonstration of what this Piano can do! Much appreciated👍🏻
I couldn't remember one song you played (Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up") so I had to pause and figure it out, lol. Hadn't heard it in a long while. Thanks for reminding me!
I love Studiologic devices. Serious instruments with good prices, they give you what you need in a very kind way. I play live with an SL73 and it's perfect for me. I should like to test the GT version because I just bought a used Kawai MP7SE for home and it's wonderful.
Yeah, the SL73 is crazy good value for money! Love the no-nonsense solid build and the thinnest possible cheeks are great when your small studio already has too much gear :-) The action could perhaps be a bit lighter, but otherwise very happy with mine.
Nice playing Woody (you've got a pretty eclectic repertoire) and a nice review, thankyou! I just purchased the 73 note version myself, and am waiting for delivery 😄 Unless you want to travel, it's pretty much impossible to find Studiologic gear in stores in suburban NY, so you're helping fellow musicians out, and it's appreciated. Thanks, Mike
glad to help. you don't see them in the stores here either, come to think of it, you don't even see stores much any more. i find youtube a very helpful resource for my own research too. congrats on yours, enjoy!
Looks like a bargain for a fully weighted midi controller with.a bonus 4 part sound engine which actually sounds pretty good. Great playing as ever Woody. As a North-Easterner from the UK I especially loved the guitar demo tune Local Hero by Mark Knopfler.. Reminded me of being in Saint James Park before the Black and Whites come out the tunnel!
That looks and sounds like an appealing package. I'm using an S88 due to its integration with NI software but the Numa comes with its own sounds and looks pretty in orange trim.
I was very serious about buying the Numa X GT, but was worried it would be another short sample like all the other Dpianos out there today. So, instead: I just bought a Roland RD-2000 with the V-Piano technology. I will have to work with this V-Piano for a few weeks to build the perfect acoustic piano sound, the best simulation of a Steinway Concert D piano. But first impressions are there is a huge amount of control of the V-Piano besides the tuning and voicing of every and each individual key, there are effects and the piano room for lid height and resonances effects. I also have the option of layering a sampled piano with the V-Piano modeled piano with losing any polyphony because they are separate engines. With out this huge control the best Dpiano in the world may sound bad with your headphones or speakers or gig amp. This amount of control is VERY necessary for any pianist who regularly performs on the best acoustic pianos in the world. One important feature of the V-Piano is the gorgeous decaying sounds as I release keys with the sustain, and the same great sound when holding keys down. Slow romantic play is wonderful, and relaxing now because the notes are not decaying away too fast and what is decaying is fantastically beautiful tone. The key action as it connects to the sound engine is a perfect simulation of a great acoustic grand, complete and total physical control of the V-Piano. Modeled piano technology is relatively new today with about 12 years of Roland tech and some software pianos who came after Roland attempting the same modeled piano. (I have played piano for 55 years, have played the worse and the best acoustic pianos on stage in the world, need a Dpiano at home for practice with headphones for the love of my apartment neighbors :) Been waiting 40 years for a great Dpiano.

Hello friend, can I ask you a favor? Could you confirm if the numa works as a midi controller connecting it via usb to the pc? to use vsts. I would like to know two important things, if it works as a midi controller, I would like to know if it obeys to change the speed and sensitivity curves of the keyboard, using it as a midi controller, connecting it only by usb. but without connecting the studio monitors to the numa. without using its outputs. I just want to use it as a usb midi controller. what worries me is that when changing the sensitivity and curves of the keyboard, there is no effect. Please, I wrote to studiologic and they didn't answer me, and I don't want to buy it without knowing if this would work, could you help me? Thank you very much anyway and a big hug from Spain.
i really advise downloading and reading the manual for these kind of nitty-gritty questions, it's quicker than asking me, who then has to go and read the manual and then write an answer.
I disagree. To me most of the sounds sound muffled and lacking dynamic expression. I rather would have one great sampled piano than dozens of really low quality sounds. So the big question, can you load your own samples?

I just want to use it as a usb midi controller. what worries me is that when changing the sensitivity and curves of the keyboard, there is no effect. Please, I wrote to studiologic and they didn't answer me, and I don't want to buy it without knowing if this would work, could you help me? Thank you very much anyway and a big hug from Spain.
Yes, you can use it just as a MIDI Controller also with all four ZONES and the Velocity settings will work also via MIDI OUT or USB.
@@giannigiudici9783 oh perfect, thanks my friend!!!
i really advise downloading and reading the manual for these kind of nitty-gritty questions, it's quicker than asking me, who then has to go and read the manual and then write an answer.
I disagree. To me most of the sounds sound muffled and lacking dynamic expression. I rather would have one great sampled piano than dozens of really low quality sounds. So the big question, can you load your own samples?
to answer the question, i think not.
Good heavens, I hope studio logic is paying you finder's fees. Well done.
Not the GT version
How did you learn all these Classic songs?
i have a video about that, search "musical notebook" on my channel!
Demonitized, you've gone too far! Lol, that was really good.
we're getting away with it, my covers are too innaccurate!
If they add 4 more layers and Sampling capabilities I would sell my house with all my keyboards to buy one of this Numa X
Well, I mean Multisampling or some kind of Sound builder app where I can add the wave samples and spread them through the keys and the velocities
Needs an "N" on the end of "Numa" then I'd buy it 🤭👍
that would really be something!
Woody
Steely Dan :D
Охуенный синт! 👍
The piano sounds are very poor...I sent mine back after a week of trying to like it..
@7:56 Horns and Brass are really awful!
disappointing main piano sound for the price
You seem to have fun :)
that's why I do this, glad you noticed!
❤Steely Dan!!!
Thanks!
Love the channel, I've haven't played much in years, but following along with you is bringing all the fun back - great stuff!
oh wow, that's not something I see much! thanks for your kindness, all the best!
