- The Koukaki neighborhood in Athens, Greece, is hip and still has lots of local flavor but is a bit further away from the action of the main Athens neighborhoods. Come explore Koukaki on a walking tour with me!

My uncle lived in his condo at 101 Vayikou (Beikou) street. He died a dozen years ago but I still miss him!
Thank you for the video. I used to live in Koukaki, and in my opinion it's the best neighborhood in Athens. I miss it and this video brought it all back to me.
Thanks for this video. I’m staying in Koukaki right now and it’s everything you say it is. I have a view of the Acropolis from my balcony - magical.😊🇦🇺
Hope you had a great trip!
I feel “home sick” 😭😭😭. I love Koukaki 🥰
Thank you for bringing us along. I got transported back to my happy place 🫶🏽
So glad you enjoyed it! Come back soon
Tiffany, thank you for showing us Koukaki. I can see why you chose to live in this nice area. It has everything you need plus good access to public transportation. Those houses on the high streets are beautiful but too bad you don’t see many more like those around the city.
You’re welcome! It’s really great. I know, I wish there were more.
I’m coming to Koukaki next week! Staying at a blue ground apt for a month. Thanks for all your great info!
That sounds great. Enjoy it.
Thank you for showing us Koukaki, the view of the Parthenon is amazing!
You’re welcome!
This is the neighbourhood we stayed in when we came in March. Lovely to recognise some of the places, we walked to the top of filopulis hill to watch the sunset.
Glad I could bring back good memories.
I love the neoclassical homes and apartments…the mid century apartment blocks that are everywhere not so much.
Me too!
The whole city of Athens was like that.
It’s really a shame there aren’t still more of them.
Wow the view from Philopappou Hill is legendary. When you could just start to see the Acropolis through the trees, I felt like i was going back to ancient times, like I was actually there. Thank you so much for the feeling. Koukaki seems like a very fun place.
It really is. You can see a long ways both directions.
Love this! More neighborhood walks! I have been many times to Athens but never have sufficient time to go through most neighborhoods. I will try Koukaki next time if time allows.
Thanks!
Beautifull vlog!
This is the area I have always stayed in but I had no idea it was called Koukaki! 😊
You must like it if you stay there every time!
@@agirlandherpassport I love it! 😊
Thanks for your refreshing videos. I will be staying in Koukaki in September and look forward to the neighborhood.
You’re welcome! Enjoy your trip.
Thanks so much for sharing! I love when you show popular places (like the Acropolis or a museum) so I can get my bearings and map it out in my head!
You’re welcome. I’m glad that helps. I try to do that just for that reason.
Fab video as always.
Thank you!
I love watching your videos. I also love Koukaki and always stay there when we visit from the UK. I've been considering a 3 month stay now I'm retired and Koukaki would be the place I choose, either that or perhaps Palio Faliro. Keep up the good work with your videos. Oh and by the way, I loved your Syros video, isn't it a wonderful place!
Thank you! I recommend it for sure.
hey Tiffany! love the video! Since Koukaki is one of the neighborhoods I am considering for retirement, I truly enjoyed seeing it from a residents perspective!
Thank you! I do love it here.
What a lovely walk!!!! ❤
I'm rooting for u from Korea 🇰🇷 and subscribe ur channel 💓
Can't wait for the next video 😊
Thanks!

Our friends own the Pulp at Veikou 5!
Oh that’s cool! I haven’t been there.
Great tips as always, thank you for sharing this video 👍🏻
You’re welcome!
I'm staying in a Penthouse in Koukaki with a Parthenon view from the huge balcony in Oct. I'm soooo excited!
Amazing! Have a great time!
So nice
Thanks!
Nice weather for walk 😊
Yes it was perfect.
Another awesome explore. As a twelve year old with an adventurous mind I would climb cypress trees in kakoki ,you can swing down from top of trees they are pool vault trees ,love this as well as all food areas you have been to ,turtles and nature made this epic .your expertise is appreciated.👍🙏to a happy healthy life.thanks.
Thanks!
I went to the Fix Goody's a while back and was sad to find it not as I remember it.
Thanks to your recommendation as we are staying at an AirBNB in Koukaki this month in May. Sfika will be a restaurant we will definitely go to. Appreciate the video !
You're welcome! Enjoy Sfika!
It is just like SF in terms of being an intersection of the old and new; hills and lookouts!
Thankfully the hills aren’t as steep though!
@@agirlandherpassport whaaaaat??? Really!! This is good news for me. I've been trying to figure out if the Acropolis is easy enough. Thank you for this!! I will def run and wave at you if I see you around there. Wheee.
If you can do SF, you will be fine.
I saved this video. I definitely want to try the Thai restaurant. 26 more days until my three month trip. Can’t wait! What is the best area to begin walking Philopappos Hill? I would love to try to walk that almost every morning if I can. Get my walk on! 😊
Anywhere you can find an easy way in. There are tons of trails up there. I go a different way each time usually.
@@agirlandherpassport ok thanks.
You’re welcome!
It amazes me that there are so many cars parked in this neighbourhood ( and others close to the centre I assume). Public transport is good in Athens, you have the metro near and parking must be a nightmare. In central London and the immediate vicinity I doubt many residents have cars because of parking problems and our London congestion charge. The transport system is equally good.Do you not have a a similar congestion charge in Athens or does the cherished freedom of the Greek people rule this out ? Great video thanks.
There are lots of cars in Athens. I think there are restrictions on certain days but these people are living here so they are allowed to park.
Just Greeks love to own a car. I don't know but it's like an obligatory to drive and own a car. According to greek parents you are a failed person if you do not drive a car. Every family has at least 2-3 cars and motorbikes for faster roaming around the city. It's a shame what's going on here. And we are terribly lazy to walk and just move our feet.
My wife and I enjoy your videos so much! We're actually considering buying a condo/apartment somewhere in Athens but we're not sure where. We very much love the walkability of Athens, and would like a nice residential area centrally located, but unsure where to start. Any suggestions?
Thank you! I would definitely spend some time here and find the neighborhoods you like first. I could recommend places but we all have our preferences. And you don’t want to buy something in a neighborhood you don’t like.
🙏🙏😊
😊😊
Hi Tiffany, it's been awhile since I left a comment. 😊Thanks again for showing us your favorite spot in Athens! Great tour as always, loved the coffee shop, beautiful sky. 👍Glad to see you are doing well. Today I had a discussion with my Canadian cousin. He tries to stop me from buying a house in Athens and instead get a home in Canada. I tried to convince him Athens is in fact a great place to be, and home prices are more reasonable and currently rising. He kept telling me Athens is a poor city with no opportunity. While I do agree many jobs pay very well in US and Canada, I think there are many good reasons for an American to come to live in Greece/Europe. I am especially fascinated by Greek cultures and the lifestyle that it represents. What would you say if an American friend tries to argue Greece is a poor country to live in?
I guess it depends on what they mean. Poor in money maybe but poor in culture no. If they needed to work here, then it could be an issue.
May I ask if there are a lot of American buy property in Athens of Greece. And maybe one day you can try catch some crab with a line and chicken😊
I don’t know as I am not a real estate agent.
Greece ‘ll become the Florida of the European Union, in the next decade,It’s scheduled for years now.If you want to buy, buy now, otherwise it’ll become too expensive in the future.
I’m moving to Athens in august and am thinking of renting in Pagrati - is it a good area?
Yes, it’s great!
