    In answer to James' question;
The other day I went to confession, bowed my head, confessed my sins and was forgiven by the grace of God - so I became, by that grace alone, that blessed man. Thank God.
    Give it a go - it's amazing.

The Gospel of Jesus is God’s promise to save His people conditioned on the atoning shed blood of Jesus Christ and His imputed righteousness alone
All that the Father gives to Jesus will come to Jesus and all that come to Jesus He will not cast away because He has come down out of heaven to do the will of the Father and The will of the father is that all that He gives to Jesus will be raised up by Jesus in the last day and be saved and Jesus won’t lose one of them.

You became Catholic because you actually know and understand the Gospels - not like these twisted satanist who call themselves "Christians". Much like satan; they rattle off carefully picked scripture, chapter and verse - because the prince of lies knows the Holy Bible better than any human. Satan truly believes in the Lord God; but like these heretics; he is disobedient. Satan has abandoned Christ; just as the followers of man-made religions have abandoned Christ- John 6:66.
Praise be Our Lord and the Holy Ghost whom brought you back into the Light, my brother. You stand with the Master of the Universe and the People of God; they stand in the darkness. We will pray that they also see the Light; and not led astray by egotistical men with forked tongues who only exist to scatter the People of God.

The sad part is Mr. White constantly uses the same arguments over and over again, even though they are sufficiently answered by Catholic apologists. Which can't be said for arguments against his own tradition.... Look at the Early Church and there you will find the Catholic Church. Nothing remotely resembles the Protestant Church (start with the first 3 centuries). For example, if you were to walk into a Early Church would you see a pulpit at the forefront center of the church or would you see an altar? Did Church revolve around the sermon or did it revolve around worshiping Jesus in the Eucharist? The burden of proof would be on Protestants to prove otherwise.

By the way, the early church fathers were not Roman Catholic, nor Eastern Orthodox, nor Protestant. They were just the early church Fathers. Read Calvin's institutes. Moreover, the Word of God is both Scripture and Oral Tradition which is btw IN SCRIPTURE.
Paul says that much Christian teaching is to be found in the tradition which is handed down by word of mouth (2 Tim. 2:2). He instructs us to “stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter” (2 Thess. 2:15).

I have one thing to say to Mr White about Saint Alphonsus Ligouri: he prayed intensely and offered up his paralysis disability to God. Are you praying more than you’re talking? If you are, I apologize. If you’re not, I urge you to do so brother. In heaven, there’ll be no debates. You mean he took in the truth that as Jesus' ministry grew, He distanced Himself from His earthly family and drew closer to His Spiritual family. (Matthew 12:46-50, Mark 3:21-35, Luke 8:19-21, Luke 11:27-28)
You mean he took in the truth that as Jesus' ministry grew, Mary's role diminished and that is very evident of the New Testament writers. After the 4 Gospels, Mary is only mentioned once by name in the upper room prayer vigil (Acts 1:13-14), where she is listed second to last behind the unnamed women and ahead of Jesus' brothers.
Notice they all prayed WITH Mary and NOT TO Mary.
The only other reference to Mary in the remainder of the New Testament is where the great apostle Paul merely refers to her as "born of a woman" in Galatians 4:4.
No special attention was ever given to Mary by Jesus nor any of the apostles.
Oh...and by the way, the "woman" in Revelation 12 is Israel (Jerusalem), NOT Mary, God's chosen (elect) people whom He will rescue from the hand of all her enemies and restore the kingdom to in the last days. (From Genesis through to the Book of Revelation)
...And just what can Mary possibly do for you Catholics, that Almighty God the Father, His Son and Holy Spirit can't possibly do for you Catholics?

Oh really now...is that a fact!
      Catechism of the Catholic Church:
"Beginning with Mary's unique cooperation with the working of the Holy Spirit, *the Churches developed their prayer TO the holy Mother of God,* centering it on the person of Christ manifested in his mysteries. In countless hymns and antiphons expressing this prayer, two movements usually alternate with one another: the first "magnifies" the Lord for the "great things" he did for his lowly servant and through her for all human beings the second entrusts the supplications and praises of the children of God to the Mother of Jesus, because she now knows the humanity which, in her, the Son of God espoused." (CCC 2675)
"Mary is the perfect Orans (pray-er), a figure of the Church. *When WE PRAY TO HER,* we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who sends his Son to save all men. Like the beloved disciple we welcome Jesus' mother into our homes, for she has become the mother of all the living. *WE CAN PRAY WITH AND TO HER.* The prayer of the Church is sustained by the prayer of Mary and united with it in hope." (CCC 2679)
Sorry, but you do what the Catholic Church says you do!
      Yes...Keep things in context.
May I suggest you Google search Catholic "Marian (Mary) prayers"...there sure is a lot more going on in the Catholic Church than just "praying with Mary"!!
You wrote: "First of all, she was still alive, but that’s not to say she didn’t already act as an intercessor with Jesus (eg., in Cana). "
Okay then, let's put things in perspective by looking at the wedding in Cana, where Mary supposedly "interceded" for the wedding party, though the Scriptures never mention she interceded for anyone, but brought the attention of running out of wine to Jesus herself.
But first let's see why Jesus came to this world:
      - *"For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”* Luke 19:10
      - "When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask Him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
*Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor."* Matthew 11:2-5
Now second, let's look at some real-life changing intercessions in Scripture:
      - The royal official interceded for his sick son. (John 4:43-54)
      - The Centurion interceded for his paralyzed/suffering servant. (Matthew 7:5-13)
      - The men interceded for a paralytic. (Matthew 9:1-8)
      - A ruler interceded for his dead daughter. (Matthew 9:18-26)
      - A man interceded for his son who was demon possessed. (Matthew 17:14-19)
      - Some people interceded for a deaf/mute man. (Mark 7:31-37)
      - A woman interceded for her demon possessed daughter. (Mark 7:24-30)
Amazing...Mary's only concern ("intercession") was that the wedding party had run out of wine, a consumable beverage that people can get drunk on!!
Gee...sure looks like Mary wasn't on the same page as Jesus!
So, next time you are at a wedding, and they run out of wine, you be sure and let Mary know....okay!
...And leave all the life changing miracles for Jesus.

It is great that you love your family members and are concerned about their salvation. Disagreements between denominations can get heated. I hope you pray for them daily and that they do the same for you.
I am not sure what sect of Christianity you are attached to, but it is generally held that Baptism is a necessity to be born again and become elect in Christ. The Catholic Church acknowledges the baptism of many other Christian sects.
I believe your characterization of the church gate keeping the sacraments is unfair. The Catholic Church is the only place that offers confession so there isn't another options. I personally have found confession to be a great boon in my fight against temptation and sin. I go to confession in part because I fear the loss of heaven, but more importantly I realize that through my sin I have hurt my relationship with Christ. He is pouring out his grace on me but if I have turned away from him and am not cooperating with his will then It is all for not. Reconciliation gives people a way to confess their sins to another individual whose vocational purpose is pastoral care and healing.
I hope that any tension between you and your Catholic family members will find resolution.
"As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth. I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me." John 17: 18-21

This is not to say that God is spiteful in his judgement as he wishes for all to be saved. Jesus in his parables (the Sower, the Watchful Servants, and the Ten Virgins) is clear that someone can be a Professing Christian and yet lose salvation. I get your point that the good thief might not have been baptized. If someone dies with a desire/intention to be baptized they can receive the grace of baptism without the sacramentals and ritual. However, just because it is possible, does not mean it is advisable. We both agree that every single person should be baptized and practice their faith.

75 years prior to Constantine, when Christians were still persecuted by the Romans (also prior to the canon of the Christian Bible/NT being established):
"Peter answered Him, 'Lord, to whom will we go?'... Peter, on whom the Church was to be built...taught and showed in the name of the Church that a rebellious and arrogant multitude may depart from the Church. I speak of those who will not hear and obey. However, the Church does not depart from Christ. And the Church consists of those who are a people united to the priest. It is the flock that adhere to its pastor. Therefore, you should know that the bishop is in the Church and the Church is in the bishop. If anyone is not with the bishop, he is not in the Church.... The Church is Catholic and is one. It is not cut or divided. Rather it is connected and bound together by the cement of priests who cohere with one another." If Abraham was already JUSTIFIED by His FAITH ALONE, then why does God need to TEST Abraham by sacrificing his son, Isaac?
If Christians are already justified (SAVED) by just having FAITH ALONE (belief in Christ Jesus), then, why do we need to undergo the PURIFICATION of FAITH by TRIALS and SACRIFICES through WORKS/ACTS/DEEDS? (ref. 1 Peter 1:6-7)... WHY? ... because that is the only TIME our FAITH is made PERFECT (SAVED) in the Sight of God...
St. Paul's message to the ROMANS was not about FAITH ALONE... because if it does, then, St. Paul's FAITH does not equate with his DOINGS...

Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.
When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, 'They have no wine.'
And Jesus said to her, 'Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.'
His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you.'
Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.
... The master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom
and said to him, 'Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.'
This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him." Jn 2:1-11

I guess that’s the harder position to take when it comes to these types of debates. James White is a fantastic debater, no doubt. But I think when he gets snappy and frustrated and sometimes comes off very harsh, even if he is making a decent point, to me it’s a big turn off and a sign that he is losing a point. It was interesting to watch Dr. White try to wriggle his way out of having to admit some sort of purification process between death and heaven. Also, having to deflect to side-topics in order dodge direct answers is another sign of a weak argument.

Is he too embarrassed to defend those teachings? He's been dodging those issues for two nights. As a Catholic you can't talk about being right with God without the mass, constant appeal to Mary etc. Those issues are central to a Catholic-Protestant debate on justification. You can't just keep skipping over them. That's not clever. He's talking about faith working through love, is that all the Catholics believe is required for justification? In other words, one can believe he is already forgiven for all sins- past, present, and future, but as he lives his life, stumbling along the way, it is still a good thing for him to keep the practice of asking God to forgive him when he falls. It is a good thing to prayer the Lord’s prayer…

Many of Rome’s false doctrines stem from their false gospel. Mass, penance, purgatory, etc all stem from their false gospel that doesn’t save and doesn’t bring peace with God. All the extras are needed to fill the holes and gaps in their soteriology, if you can even call it that. Instead of the true gospel that unites us to Christ through Faith and the result is salvation and the sanctification that results in a changed life. With Rome you get an endless cycle of penance and fear and anxiety and a system that gives Rome power and their people terror and anxiety. Rome abandoned the scripture and the faith of the early church long ago. Any honest review of history will clearly show that Rome today is nowhere near what the early church believed. It has been hundreds of years of slow accretions and inventions of men from pagan, mystic and gnostic sources. The Reformation, praise God, was a return to the church that Christ and the Apostles handed the church fathers. It was a return to scripture as the highest authority that all other authorities must be judged against. Other authorities are useful and edifying, but once you elevate some other authority to the level of scripture, you are bound to end up in endless ditches like Rome has found itself countless times.
