The sickest Nature boy quote
This man Chad out here channeling the spirit of all the great sax legends, the section around 11:20 is just brilliant to me
Young dudes playing great jazz. I'm encouraged.
And tenor
jack black plays nice bass!
JACK BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!! L M A O
I really don't think that is Jack Black. You must be mistaken.
Jason Andrews pub vixlgg
Bruno Ferreira you found me out.
Jason Andrews Jacques Noir
I can't believe how good they are! Are you hearing this?......
Stunning virtuosity now at a level unimaginable during the Johnny Hodges era, on and on the saxophone continues to re-invent itself in an organic and progressive instrument for invention. Great LIVE performance.
I wouldn’t say unimaginable
Charlie Parker just doesn’t exist?
I went to sax camp with Justin! Keep your ears on him!!!
Duuuuude! Everything about this performance is burnin!!!!
4:06 Chad looking trying to see what Ryan is staring at while he's soloing 😂
lol
😂

This sesh goes hard as in a Evening Sunset
Annnnnnndddd I'm back a year later after spending a lot of time on my horn. I feel like the more I learn, I reach new depths of realization as to how AMAZING these guys are!!! Well done gents absolutely blowing my mind. I think at one point seeing something like this made me want to throw my sax out the window. But now it makes me want to PRACTICCCCCEEEE!
Justin throws down such awesome ideas in that first solo, blows my mind
Greatissimo!
Chad climaxes with that Michael growl...
Great saxophonics in the order presented...
Altoist has great potentials as an ace virtuoso; don't you agree?
Drummer smokes like Joe Frasier; great rhythm section...
I played with Ryan and Chad at the south Orlando jazz workshop! It was great. Great musicians and outstanding people
These Saxes are all very good wow! ... Alto sax combines great qualities, sound + line shapes that link the past of American jazz and the contemporary modern classical European sounds
That alto sax guy is one of the best of the world i'm pretty sure
He’s playing for the navy commodore band now
I'm proud to be going to the same jazz school as some of these cats🎺🙌💯🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely amazing. Full marks to the rhythm section, who really kept it together when there was so much going on up front. Great bass player! Wow brilliant synergy and energy from everyone, and a great song to choose
Mr. Devlin, I enjoyed your playing VERY much.
WHAT A DRUMMER!
the kid murdered that sax. Really good.
Justin Mendez .... yes yes yes!!
5:53 Brecker licks all the way killin man
Chad has just "saxophonically" exhumed both John Coltrane and Michael Brecker with excellence which is second to none.
Justin and Delvin with Band are smokingly hot!
Lohvissimo!
Ryan Devlin - now that's what I call improvising over the melody.
No the other one - twitter.com/Rylan
Nice Chad, Haitian Fight Song quote, paying homage to Mingus.
Fantastic - please give me your practice routine Ryan. Great absorption of Brecker and Trane man, and perfect control of the horn's range.
.
Wow what an epic for the rhythm section 17:30min... It's like when you get a truck you get a sign that reads "No I will not help you move" maybe drummers need a sign when they see three horn players competing to out blow each other haha... Having said that I like the Alto player and of course Chad but hats off to Thomas who after 12min backing everyone else plays a great solo!!
Justin you are fantastic !
Wow. Ryan Devlin omg. And Justin Mendez. Wow wow wow.
Wow, the alto player blew my mind because of how young he is. Incredible language coming out of his horn. Sounds like he's listened to Oatts!
That’s funny cuz oatts thinks it’s corny
@@Yo-sb9sthow do you know?
Did anyone else notice the Haitian Fight song bass Line in chads solo at 10:27
Bass player... badass!!!
Mad first solo !!!!
Great jam sessions! Great sound from all the line up!
Justin, damn man! You're coming on!
Killin alto solo
Then there's Chad who just Commits a massive genocide with his solo and just sits back down like nothing happened.....
Such insane level of skills these Kat's have
@Cruz Billy the second tenor
I wish I had that sax player as my neighbor.
a real Chad
I think the first tenor saxophone has given another level ... high level.
Excelente musicians congratulations Chad for your solo
Yeah Justin!!!
Incredible how good everyone actually is in that band.
Parabéns Chad, muito musical!
If one of you is invited in Lyon (France) for a master class, I 'll be there, for sure!
This was a ride! Fantastic job to everyone on stage!
don't think so :
The altist, as Konitz rounds around the theme.
The first tenor get a coltrane / Grossman approche of Softly's theme.
the second tenor as an actual approche of the theme with the apports of Brecker, Berg and bergonzi in his impro.....
Chad approves lol everyone killed it. Keep it up bro!
yeah chad. 🎩
Tht was so awesome 😭😭😭
Beautifull
the drums solo was insane!!!
The negative criticisms are pretty funny, and I think a bit dishonest. The fact is, in the same situation, we'd all play with that kind of abandon if we too had those chops.
sax4Him well said
Just because you can, doesn't mean you always should continuously.
@@jonunderscoreit’s how they choose to improvise. I respect those who are willing to play how they choose no matter what people think.
@@duncancofell8960 I respect that confidence too, but I respect it even more when what they're playing is interesting. Better choices can be made in my own opinion which I also respect.
Wow! Can Chad play!!!!!!! Wooooshsshshshshhhssssssssshhhhh!!!!! What a great solo!!
10:35 ...wow, ....how he seemingly slips into clever-extensive-dexterous lines!
11:01 ...Then beautifully lands the courageous line!!!
Heck yes!
How about that drummer?
Hot House quote at 8:03. That's awesome
Damn,....great stuff
And of course they talk in the bass solo! 11:50
My camera work is second to none for this video B-)
LMAOO BRO I WAS JUST BOUTA SEND YOU THIS ON WHO YOU RECORDED THIS😭😭💀
Someone please transcribe Justin’s solo on this😭🔥
Ikr! Not everybody is feeling it but I think it’s sick 🔥
Chad: "Very nice guys.....hold my beer please, I'll be right back".....
killin bro!!
Ditto Señor Mendez and Lefkowitz.
One hell of a sunrise, alright
Killin! Awesome working with you guys at the workshop a few months back!
1st tenor tore it up!
10:50 entering warp mode
YEAH 🔥🔥
All great saxophonists! At the risk of sounding critical, it sounds like the first two soloist are playing from a place of competition versus artistry. We are all guilty of this sometimes. It becomes about “chops” versus truly taking the risk of not being seen as the one with the most chops. This music is very subjective at best and I am truly blown away with the abilities of all these players, but we have to keep in mind that it is about the music not who is going to get the next gig because of how much faster than the next guy you can play. I prefer more space and interaction with the rhythm section. It can become too academic and patternistic which eventually leads to a splash of boredom. Also, what is wrong with a mic? It sounds like it must have been too loud and the players are overblowing. Been there too myself!
As a bassist who supports everyone all the time, the really advance players interact and share the rhythmical space allowing everyone to contribute to the soloist success. As advance as the new players are coming out of college these days, just talking/playing fast might make me remember you but not the band and in the end financially bands get booked/remembered more than individuals.
this is such a great comment, so very true @sal Crocker
@@rudyalexandermarquezmusic NONSENSE
Everything you wrote is complete nonsense!!! You obviously dont really like jazz much. You probably listen to an extremely narrow era of jazz. They play how real artists play! Come to New York and you can see real jazz everynight!!
@@mambojazz1 is it nonsense tho?
Sax tenor 👍👍👍👍👍
Killing it!
I’m pretty sure I saw Justin at NAMM? We were both trying cannonball saxophones
Why is chad’s sound thicker and brighter!
8:58 nature boy - Coltrane
That’s not by Coltrane dawg it’s by Edhen Ahbez
Thank you!
Nice video. I think I will just throw my saxophone out of the window.....and jump right afterwards......
Chad was over killing, as always, but for the other players to stand and play along with him, that is no small feat. Congrats to all. By the way, the kid on the alto sax, looks no older than 16...
astonishing!
yeah santanioooooo
the bass solo was amazing
The bassist was going ham
On fire
Funny how many times Chad quotes the other two's solos
i was just thinking of that like "did he really just take their solos and mock them?"
Chad: Level1, then Level2, then Level3 To Saiyan mode..
I dug the bass solo the most of all
The first solo is everything I hate about jam sessions. Chad's solo is everything I love about jam sessions.
seanwinter sax why? I think he has an unique style of playing music. Thats what jazz is about...many soloists and everyone plays his own style, resulting in a fusion of multiple styles.
@@leonhardriepler I've heard it too much. No sense of melody. Really just notes for the sake of playing notes. It doesn't grab me in any way what so ever. The second solo was fire too though. The OP I think of this video.
You mustn't be an Ornette Coleman fan
@@sethjohnston2331 exactly, nor a fan of late Coltrane too. Love the alto sax boy, full of ideas but only for the open minded. And it has melody too, just more buried and less obvious/classical.
@@saxombie8614 He is awesome! I follow him on Instagram and he's still going strong. He's also very interactive with fans, I have spoken with him before.
I bet Chad taught these guys. :)
Jumping Jellyfish!! that cat who played before Chad is KILLIN!!!! who is that????
Jason Gaye haha thanks man. That’s me
The chord work and amount of technical prowess in these are really amazing.
I'm a bit confused at Justin's solo being essentially an endless stream of eighth notes with 16th breaks and phrases ending on a quarter. Chad does like 70% the same thing and breaks it up with melodic callbacks. It's a bunch of fun melodic shapes but in a really dull rhythm... Is he doing something rhythmically through those 45 second long strings of eighth notes that I just can't hear besides the single long note phrase breaks?
Bravi!
justin said lemme embody chad energy rq
Daaaamnnnn
Is that the new Nexus tenor your playing?
7:46 Haitian Fight Song Bassline as well as 10:27
What up anakin lol
Is that Rylan Clark-Neal on tenor?
Damn
are we gonna ignore chad snuck the lick into his solo?
@Ryan
5:50 Freddie Hubbard
Some of the stuff the other 2 guys were doing was cool, but Chad was the only one that was actually playing the changes and referencing the melody in his solo
And ?
There are different ways of playing, hitting every change is just one of them. Just listen to Mike brecker on this song, most of his solo it outside
@@ninrey19 i know it was sarcastic...but thank you ^^
The Flying Nimbus Definitely not trying to start anything and I respect your opinion. But if you listened to all 3 solos without rhythm section could you tell what the changes were by what they were playing?
Just curious to know who gave a thumbs down and why...
The second soloist had amazing technique but he just sounded like he was cycling through random tricks and patterns. Chad maintained the integrity of the tune and killed it. Every tune has its chord changes and it's important to maintain that structure otherwise you're just making noise.
Does one have to stick with the original chords, especially when soloing?Perhaps people playing bass or comping on piano, guitar etc,can be pushed into that traditional role but even they don't ALWAYS have to play in according with the original chords,do they?Mostly we do but sometimes that has to go out the window.Without such an attitude, there would be no Bebop, let alone anything that followed it,In My Opinion.I wonder if Coltrane,Ornette Coleman or Bud Powell would say it's always so,let alone Eric Dolphy.
bruh that’s Ryan Devlin, I think he knows what he’s doing
also Chad does the same thing sometimes. how dare you call this video “noise”. sorry it’s not smooth enough for you
Oh yes!...so maybe you can teach us on the same "random " tricks...🎷😊
