John Reilly was the leader of the San Patricios, I believe. I feel a very strong kinship to that man for obvious reasons. "And the English hated the Irish." Yes. And the feeling was mutual. I still struggle with that feeling myself from time to time. Thanks for the history lesson, Pat.
I agree with Paul enjoy the lessons and stories. But I do have a question what part of the country am I looking at in the videos. the view into the valley is outstanding.
Pat I think most ranchers prepare for what is coming no matter what you call it pro active or boy scouting :) As for the Irish deserters maybe hanging was more than they deserved but they did sign on to server in the U.S. military. I know if I deserted I may not have been hanged but would have been locked up and that goes the same for my buddy, he was a Filipino citizen who joined the U.S. Navy becoming a U.S citizen when his hitch was up. I am kind of surprised we had Englishman in the U.S. military considering the times and history. Good video though, I learn a lot from you and Deb.

Hi Pat, tradition but sometimes it's time to change. This bumping on reins comes from hackamore but use that with rope halter is not good. Take a sidepull instead, it's so much better for that circling. Look at my wife when she starts a spanish colt in sidepull, inside leg in turn is so much easier to do. ua-cam.com/video/5zmE1CKbr8w/v-deo.html
The difference in our style of horsemanship is that we don’t want to hold the horse in the frame: We want him to carry the bend himself. That is why Pat bumps and releases rather than holds.
@@PatnDebPuckett A release is a release, not how long hand moves. But look how the horse starts turn and bend with the inner leg. That's what we talk about.
Neither horse is in collection. In the first video, there is no float in the rein. No feel. Both are examples of riding with too much hand and not enough body. I don’t understand why you clapped your hands at your horse.

Pat, great you are starting your own riding school. Are you providing the horses for the schooling? T.Y.
Most students will bring their own horses. When that is not possible such as people coming from overseas, we will have a horse available.
Here you watch real riding, real correction, real patience and not a fake show. And you get to listen to an interesting history story to boot.
