  • Female garage-rock anthem!
SHE was a garage band of teen girls from Sacramento. They were first known as the Hairem, and then SHE. After a couple years of build-up and some personnel changes, they nailed it perfect with the single, "Outta Reach". With its shuddering lust and snotty intensity it is proto-punk incarnate!

Fantastic band, and the album is a corker, top notch foot stomping garage rock. And wasn't Piper Minas an absolutely beautiful woman? I could gaze at her all day. And she rocks on guitar

First heard this song on an NME cassette compilation of Garage bands called "We Have Come For Your Children" way back in the day. Played this song to death! A true classic!

BAD ASS! Thanks so much for uploading this. This song was originally called " Bus Stop," I think. At least that's how it showed up on Pandora...and it was a different, slower, more simple version (that I fell in love with). But this one rocks, love it! So hard to find too when doing a search on "She." lol
    Thanks again!

That farfisa organ makes this sound more like something from 1966 or 1967. In the early 70s, this sound wasn't very common, although it would be revived with the punk/new wave movement of the late 70s.

Although the Farfisa organ was the "it" instrument in '66 & '67, it was perhaps somewhat of an anachronism by 1970. Nonetheless, She's "Outta Reach" is an innovative song that oddly anticipates the punk & new wave genres a few years down the line. Great stuff!

Yeah, good sound and song. The Pandoras probably heard of them. lol There is a song from 1971 that sounds like a 1966 record and it's called "I love you, I want you" by The Early Americans.

The Runaways weren't the first girls band who really rocked. They were just the first one to really get a lot of hype. Cherie Currie is now a right wing Republican anyway.

Used to bump into one of the band members in the 80s in SF at Cipollina shows... trying to google up anything on this band by their name only is a b*tch. Glad I found this video. Thanks to the uploader, and Karen for chiming in (even just one name will help in searches. Pretty sure the sister (blond) I met was someone else, just can't quite recall her name).
