Teeter Dance can be blocked on your partner's end in Double or Triple Battles if the Pokemon on your team have the Own Tempo Ability. As for Spiky Shield. I don't remember it hurting my opponents when I used it, but I do remember it lowering Attack Stat if the enemy used a Physical move.
I’d say Secret sword is better than sacred sword, at least in competitive. The swords of justice rarely even use sacred sword because close combat is so much stronger. Plus keldeo being a special attacker that can destroy one of the strongest special walls in blissey/chansey is part of what made him broken for 2 generations.
I love your content! Not that this is a bad thing, but the sound and way you narrated this video kinda reminded me of how jwhicz (or whatever that guy's name is) talked in his videos. Just a thought. ❤
@@emperorcubone One of the best. Though despite the move itself being really powerful for healing and neutering an enemy all at once, the Pokemon that get it aren't nearly as effective with it as some of the other moves on your list (like Aegislash with Sacred Sword) so I can see why it wouldn't make it on.
One of my least favorite former signature moves is muddy water. It's not a weak move by any regards, but it's really annoying to me since it's just surf but with lower accuracy and it lowers your opponent's accuracy. Outside of double battles specifically surf is just better except whenever you opponent uses it and they just drop your accuracy every time and make everything they have annoying to play against. Even in double battles where it has the non-rng upside of not hitting your teammate, its really more of a necessary evil than solid option especially since surf can open up fun combos and ways to play around the downside(water absorb, or using pokemon who resist surf as partners so they can eat it up while you drown everything else without having to worry about rng). Funnily enough leaf blade, another former signature move from a hoenn starter, is one of my favorite former signatures since it's a really strong physical grass move that provides excellent stab power and coverage
Spore has caused me so much pain in competitive battles. Like its not fair to have a sleep move with 100% accuracy. The whole reason the other sleep moves are inaccurate is because its supposed to be high risk high reward. With spore its just click a button and get free switch. And dear god have mercy on your soul if you are battling without a sleep clause.
Payback from Fossil Fighters could be a cool Pokémon move. When the enemy attacks you there’s a 70% chance their attack will be reflected back at them instead for 2 turns
@@emperorcubone in the first FF game Payback was called Counter Blow, but it was way less useful. More expensive and only sent back damage 40% of time. The second Fossil Fighters game is really good and fixes tons of balancing issues the first one had, especially with these types of positive status moves. Anyways, I guess we could call it counter blow again? Or maybe something based off the animation in the second game like idk “Aura of Thorns”.
I've never really liked when they give signature moves to other Pokemon honestly. It feels unfair to the few who still have them (like Ho-Oh vs Lugia). Also, can we take a minute to talk about freaking Accelerock? They keep it from the one Lycanroc form that wants it most for literally no reason.
I mean, there are a lot of things wrong with this list. As nice as Sacred Fire is, it doesn't even come close to comparing to V-Create. I mean, that's a 270 base power move when Victini is using it. If they ever gave it to one of the stronger attacking fire type users, instead of one with just a 100 base attack, it would be insane.
Actually psywave minimum power is 50%+1hp, not only 1hp. So at level 100, it does between 51 and 150 damage to the target. And it isn't that terrible, it is used on bronzong in gen 7, so it has at least some uses.
Pretty sure stab doesn't affect psywave in the first place as it is a fixed damage move (after rolling the number) which isn't affected by anything except immunities really
Yes, but that was only in Crystal years later, and since that was the lowest selling mainline Pokemon game ever I think it's safe to assume most people didn't experience that.
Saying that mystical fire is worse than silt shield is kind of dumb lol Mystical fire being added to tons of pokemon is super super important Also wheres darkest lariat?
Don't forget the worst part about Teeter Dance: It also confuses the user when it doesn't have the Own Tempo Ability like Spinda can. In that sense, spreading it around made the move even worse than when it was a signature move!

On the other hand, why is Crabhammer (a former signature move itself) a Water type move (instead of Normal) just because it's tailor made for creatures that are naturally chosen to be Water types?
Clamp being a physical version of whirlpool wouldn’t be a factor until gen 4 🤷🏿♀️
I loved how every time you used Sacred Fire, you'd get the ashes that completely heal your pokémon. I feel like that's what made it even more special.
15:43
Pay say is still a signature move
To this day no other Pokémon can learn it by lvl up
The fact it is a TM/TR doesn't make it non signature
I’m pretty sure Purrloin can get it through breeding if that counts
@@CaptainObliviousV It could back in Gens 5-7, anyway.
Meanwhile, the Alolan and Galarian Meowth families can also learn it by level up.
@@CaptainObliviousV
That's only in gen 5
so does jumpluff in gen 2
It has to be by lvl up for it not to be a signature move anymore
There's no such thing as a signature move with my man smeargle in existence
They say imitation is the moat simcere form of lattery.
Smeralge believe that using imitation to pummel oponent is
Splash actually won a tournament. In sword and shield, there was a Magikarp Cup where all teams needed a Magikarp. Splash was the only status move that Karp got so it was the only move that turned into Max Guard when dynamaxed. Wolfey has a video on this
XtremeSpeed was a signature move for arcanine for Silver/Gold only (well, gold if you had silver and no friends), because in crystal you had the xtreme speed dragonite... i still remember smashing friends with my curse/rest/xtremespeed/earthquake dragonite
Didn't Goldeen learn splash in Gen 1 as well?
9:40 Tail glow in Gen 3 was +2 so it was basically nasty plot before that was a thing. Gen 4 and onwards is +3
At least in the Mystery Dungeon games splash actually does something and makes the user hop to another tile potentially dealing damage to an opponent or relocating the user a few tiles away from an enemy
I like how you always swap the order of "best" and "worst" representatives on the thumbnail. In this case: Aegislash (Sacred Sword, a.k.a. the 2nd place best) on the "worst" side. I just find it funny.
Keeps people on their toes!
I think mystical fire deserves a mention. Giving it to mons like mismagius and fairy types makes so much sense thematically and gave them much-needed fire type coverage to counter steel types.
"Clamp" is actually a pun. Shelder is a clam as in the first four letters of "CLAMp" now you'll never unsee it.
I love how the automatic chapter about Clamp is called "CHOMP".
bone rush is my favourite no longer signature move becasue cubone :)
and i think shadow bone or bonemerang should be used by someone else, i love cubone and i want to it have special something, but alolan marowak have 3 signature moves
Bone rush is definitely great! And the other three signature moves from the Cubone too!
@@emperorcubone Well, by the same token that Sacred Fire is no longer a signature move due to Entei, Bone Rush isn't a signature move since it is also given to Lucario.
@@ZealOnWheels704 If I am not mistaken, Mandibuzz and Vullaby can learn Bone Rush as well

Leaf Blade is my favorite since it used to be the signature of mu favorite starter Sceptile
Same, it's a great move!
@@emperorcubone Just not as great on Sceptile since it became a physical move in Gen 4.
I love your content! Not that this is a bad thing, but the sound and way you narrated this video kinda reminded me of how jwhicz (or whatever that guy's name is) talked in his videos. Just a thought. ❤
Surprised that Strength Sap isn't anywhere on the list
Well which side did you expect it on?
The only thing I would say in favor of your number one pick is that it's Z-move does boost your attack 3 stages...if you want to waste your Z-move.
Raising your attack but 2.5x is not a waste
I wouldn't call that a waste
darkest lariat, the animation is hilarious enough to be worth it by itself *watches snorlax spin like a top*
True, that is a good one!
Hidden Power. I miss it so.
Hopefully we can get a great-unmigration in gen 9.😏
Unown deserves better...
In BDSP Hidden Power is actually back, but only Unown can learn it
Spore has caused me so much pain in competitive battles. Like its not fair to have a sleep move with 100% accuracy. The whole reason the other sleep moves are inaccurate is because its supposed to be high risk high reward. With spore its just click a button and get free switch. And dear god have mercy on your soul if you are battling without a sleep clause.
just switch in ur grass type l m a o
You do know that most spore users have grass coverage right?
@@Shin_Aniki what? im saying if spore is a problem for u then just switch to a grass type to negade it
@@Shin_Aniki im pretty sure spore is 100 accurate bc grass types are immune
I know, but still being forced to sacrifice a team slot for a grass type when I dont feel like using one just to prepare for spore is still annoying
Payback from Fossil Fighters could be a cool Pokémon move. When the enemy attacks you there’s a 70% chance their attack will be reflected back at them instead for 2 turns
Payback is already a move, but we can give it a different name.
Hyper and Super Fang are still two of my favorite former signature moves.
Yes Psystrike, the famous fairy type move !
Fun fact: cut its the kartanas signature move
I still believe each mon should have some hardcoded fifth move connected with the mon lore
Accelerock is great! It's a shame the midnight pup was too bad to get it...
@@emperorcubone i don't get it why midnight didn't get too or at least a move similar to it
Great video!
(Pokémon does a Signature Move)
Smeargle - “Write that down! Write that down!”
"Sketch" it down...
could u not get dratini with extreamspeed in gen 2 from the dragon den behind claires gym or am i misremembering?
You get the Dratini after the quiz

Sacret fire is actually a physical move 😅
I mean, there are a lot of things wrong with this list. As nice as Sacred Fire is, it doesn't even come close to comparing to V-Create. I mean, that's a 270 base power move when Victini is using it. If they ever gave it to one of the stronger attacking fire type users, instead of one with just a 100 base attack, it would be insane.
Fun Fact: All Splash Pokemom eventually learns Bounce later on. (But this does not mean all Bounce users has Splash)
Splash should be buffed to have 80 PP cause funi
Actually psywave minimum power is 50%+1hp, not only 1hp. So at level 100, it does between 51 and 150 damage to the target. And it isn't that terrible, it is used on bronzong in gen 7, so it has at least some uses.
The thumbnail made me afraid that my boi Aegislash lost his signature move privilage
Yawn is a fully accurate but takes another turn to take effect
Fun fact a dratini you get in gen 2 in crystal has extreme speed as well
Pretty sure stab doesn't affect psywave in the first place as it is a fixed damage move (after rolling the number) which isn't affected by anything except immunities really
I'll always have a soft spot for Leaf Blade since I tore through emerald with sceptile as my fisrt mainline pokemon experience
In Gen 2 Arcanine wasn't the only one with Extremespeed. Don't forget you can get a Dratini with Extremespeed after defeating the 8th gym.
Yes, but that was only in Crystal years later, and since that was the lowest selling mainline Pokemon game ever I think it's safe to assume most people didn't experience that.
Did something happen with the chapters on this video? Some moves listed there aren't discussed.
Yeah, I've never done chapters on my own so these are all auto-generated. They're usually wrong...
Signature moves are pretty cool
Saying that mystical fire is worse than silt shield is kind of dumb lol
Mystical fire being added to tons of pokemon is super super important
Also wheres darkest lariat?
Am I remembering wrong but didn’t you get a dratini in crystal with extremespeed? So gen 2?
15:20 what the heck happened to his arms?
Maybe make a video about mon which should have a certain move which they can't get
Don't forget the worst part about Teeter Dance: It also confuses the user when it doesn't have the Own Tempo Ability like Spinda can. In that sense, spreading it around made the move even worse than when it was a signature move!
It doesn't confuse the user, I think you might be misremembering
Misdreavous wouldnt have gotten stab from psywave anyway, its a "typeless" move despite being listed as psychic type, like seismic toss not being able to be super effective. Found this out the hard way during my most recent playthrough of yellow
Don't forget about the extreme speed Dratini in gen 2 at dragons den
“Fast fighting type”
>70 base speed
Kind of strange that High Horsepower is a move that is not like Extreme Speed: very fast and priority only 🐎
It's High Horse *power,* not High Horse *speed.*
