    Dude so glad we found your channel! My wife and I are Brazilian but we live and work in the USA. We are working hard on our portfolio very similar to yours with stocks and crypto(staking ETH). We will probably move to either the south of the north of Brazil in a few years. Keep it up!

    I'm a dual-resident "Gringo" of BR & US and you're 100% spot-on with having passive income to "comfortably" live in BR as an ex-pat since it's so difficult to find stable, well-paying income in the BR workforce. Moreover, most N. American companies--SMB-to-Enterprise--hate, and I mean hate hearing or learning you're an ex-pat who wants to work remotely. I've heard everything from fear of tax-treaty issues to even physical security with all of the bad press coming out of BR about homicide rates, etc. I'm super glad you took the time to plan and now executing with your investment vehicles to create a "comfortable life" for you and your daughter. Cheers. Boa Sorte, Fico com Deus. 💛💚💙

    Awesome videos. I’m married to a Brazilian and also considering moving there. We’ve also thought about Portugal, although I guess that would be a little higher cost of living than Brazil..

    Am thinking of renting my place out in London and moving to either Barra da Tijuica or Fortaleza but I'm terrified that I might get nightmare tennants who leave me stuck without rental income

    • @nordicinvestor
      @nordicinvestor  Рік тому +2

      I was also worried about renting my house out too. I've had some difficult tenants but the key thing is to use a good estate agent, draw up a rental agreement and also have landlord insurance which includes cover for lost rent if the tenants stop paying.

    I wouldn't say the cost of living is lower in Brazil than in Europe. Europe also has a good infrastructure that can save you lots of headache, time and money. It is more of a preference thing where you want to live. Close to awesome beaches or in cold weather. Argentina, Equador, Colombia are probably the cheapest but they have high crime rates. With 4100 USD and Swedish krona going down you would be fine not only in Sweden but in most European countries, except maybe for UK and Switzerland.

    Hi, I would like to hear how you handle Receita federal! I hear the country has horrendous rules about taxing foreigners. I will be in social security; and I am not looking forward giving Receita Federal 27% of my check! I would like to hear your opinion and handling of this issue . Thanks!!!

    • @nordicinvestor

      My own personal experience is that I pay about the same amount of tax here in Brazil compared to when I lived in Sweden. Obviously if you live in a low tax country at the moment then this might not be the same for you. The maximum income tax rate is 27% in Brazil but you are able to deduct a lot of costs from your taxable income such as medical costs, school fees etc which reduces the amount of tax you pay. Also I make that I spread my income between myself and my wife to reduce the burden further.

      I swing trade shares, crypto and commodities. My strategy is very simple, I have a list of companies, crypto etc I have confidence in, I wait for the price to dip and stabilise and sell once it has recovered to previous highs. Sometimes it can take weeks, other times months.

      I read somewhere that they dont tax dividends in brazil is it true ?

    • @chicolofi
      @chicolofi 9 місяців тому +1

      @@money.hungry It is true. But Brazilian companies usually pay part of the dividends under the name of "interest on equity", which is taxed (because these are free from taxes for the paying company). Brazilian tax system is crazy af, that's why the Congress has recently approved a tax reform.

    How much do you pay in taxes? I reckon you have the stocks in an ISK, so pretty much nothing there, but the tax rate for the crypto is 30% (if you file for taxes in Sweden) and 30% on the rental income as well (if you file in Sweden).

    • @nordicinvestor
      @nordicinvestor  Рік тому +3

      Hi, I pay income tax on the rental income. I usually do not pay any tax on my investment capital gains because sales of shares below R$20,000 (US$4000) per month is exempt from tax in Brazil. For crypto it is R$35,000 (US$7000) per month.

      Search tax treaties. You should be fine. But, you'll be paying ALL include taxes on goods & services in BR. I.e. electronics, etc. which are much higher down here!

    Hmmm living $2k USD a month about $10k BRL and another $2k for fun. (And that USD is dropping... I wouldnt be tossing in my job on that... Ok for a holiday... But no good if you are only 35 and have a whole life ahead of you. But definitely Brazil is a great place if you are from US, Europe or Aus and you have about a $500k to a Mil... A Mil there doesnt go far but does here... You can earn about 12 - 16% investing locally with a lowish tax rate...
