+anthony barnes The backup vocals are there to guide the person attempting to sing the song. Song is intended to be sung louder than the backup vocals so as to drown them out. The original did not have the lead background vocals but it did have the backup vocals near the end.

No Karafun has a distinct reason besides being tutorial vocals. Those vocals irritate me too. When you are using these karaokes in open speakers with loud volume that back ground vocal is to loud. It interferes with how I want to sing the song. Not every one has Bob Seger vocals. But that don't meant you can't sing his song as good as him but with a different emphasis than he uses. We don't need another Bob Seger there is only one of those. But we can use new artists that practice different vocal arrangements that fit his backing track rhythm section. Karafun incorporates these back ground vocals to keep you from illegally using their tracks in a professional setting. I usually write the lyric's down and go to the Various Artists backing tracks...which gives you a better opportunity to learn how to sing with a band. Because in those backing tracks there's no entry marked on the screen to tell you when to enter the song with your voice and when to stop singing at the breaks. That way you can learn how to start singing the lyric's by listening solely to what the musicians are playing and when they create the entry. Just write these lyrics down and type Bob Seger Night Moves Karaoke in your You Tube search window...and it will take you a number of versions of this song. Pick one without any lyric's that is only the instrumental portion of it. And sing that....its more productive to how you can sing the song. Rather than what we all heard from Bob Seger.
