i took an old watch to a watch repair service to see if it can be fixed because it had a small problem and i asked if the watch band can be shrinked. It had the same type of band as the one in this video and he said that it cannot be done and instead offered to change it completely but i refused because i didn't have enough cash with me. I'm really glad i refused because, a week later while i couldn't sleep, i decided to do a little research of my own and see if it really cannot be done and i found your video. Guess what? Took me less than 5 minutes, a surgical knife and an anatomical forceps and you can't even tell where i've opened the watch band. You saved a poor student some money, man! Thanks a lot!

Perfect. You took a mechanical task that was simply beyond my capacity to figure out and broke it down step by incremental step. Your instructions worked perfectly. Now my Vostok Komandirskie watch fits perfectly. This is what UA-cam is supposed to be all about. Thank you.

Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! Fixed the band on my 91 year old grandmother’s favorite watch (which belonged to my late grandfather before he passed) with just a pair of needle nose tweezers and some patience. Super satisfying little project and it was made infinitely easier with this video!

Done. Don't be intimidated. Set aside an hour or so, tools like the above will make this easier, but you can improvise. The little tabs on the links won't look perfect when you're done, but they're so small, no one will ever notice. Great video.

Excellent presentation. Very clear and detailed step by step. Video was all shot very close up and it was easy to see the detail and how the technician took the pieces apart, removed the links and exactly how he put the U-pins back into the ends and reattached the ends. I shortened my expansion band exactly and perfectly. It took about one and 1/2 hours. Due to my age and bad vision, but it worked out great!

this video was great! exactly what I needed. it was a quite difficult to place the pins back so I just slid a pin on one side then slid the other in like a puzzle closed the placement hinges and went to other side to complete the process. I am so happy with my new smaller watch band!

Thank you! i got a watch today for my birthday, and i have very small almost child sized wrists. So unless i want to go around sporting my daughter's dora watch, i have to do adjustments to whatever watch i get. My father used to always do it for me, but after he passed i gave up wearing them. This was simple enough that even after party drinks, i was able to make my watch fit my tiny ass wrists. even better is, it was with minimal injuries from using a knife after said drinks XD. I thank you for the helpful tutorial.

4 Hours later - I finally devised a method - get to the final stage and cut insulating tape to less than the width of the strap and stick it both outside and inside to hold the links in place whilst fitting the clips - still extremely fiddly but finally got it back together - give the clip half a chance and off it goes and hides in the most inaccessible place it can find.

I've never seen this type of band sized without first removing the link cover by prying up the little "prongs" between the links. My band links are so tough that the ends will not bend, even with a fairly large blade. Great video though. Perfect speed!!
