I have never seen them like that in Canada. That might be in part because they are not that common end very expensive, but I have had them a few times. Certainly not at a chippy.

you need one when your job title says scallop orgy wrangler.
"it is to prevent inbreeding". Scallops are smarter than British royalties.

I live this program. I have learned so much about what I eat and how it's raised !!!! THANKS 😊
Dude this show needs to be in discovery channel
True that!!! 👍✌️✌️✌️🇺🇸
It already is a TV show lol, these are just clips of it
Its called the coral and is the roe. In New Zealand we eat it with the scallop
In Chile too, raw with salt and lemon juice it's delicious.
I live in Australia and I always eat both parts.
@@varrjames186 but you like the gonads best though don't ya?
According to Gordon Ramsay, the coral tastes of nothing and gets very rubbery.
@@DaveDVideoMaker what would he know? But seriously in new zealand and Australia they taste of scallop, and are very tender. But we eat them straight out of the water, as fresh as you can get.

This video was way too short.

I thought the same thing.
Im trippn thats not the same person he was talkn 2 on the phone?
"Might" end up on dinner plates. You're talking about them as if they're in the wild. They will most definitely end up as a tasty entrée.
No man they become starters innit. Get with the program
He obviously meant that not all would be viable. Do you really think that that nursery harvests 2M scallops every week?
They could be going into Hell’s Kitchen
I've been eating that bit the whole time, because I was told it was just roe...
So is the outer clam shell part of the a anatomy?
exactly my question too
Yes.... the shell is part of the animal. Like your bones. Where else would the shell come from?

Man , that’s some chippy
There’s nothing fishy about this show! It’s very educational and brings knowledge out of its shell
Eyyy!
This was extremely fascinating👍🏽
If it's that easy to farm scallops; why drag and destroy the seabed by destructive fishing?
Yet, no one mentioned that scallops have eyes!!!!
That scientist is hilarious.
Fascinating
I could've googled that for you and saved you the cost of a flight to Norway.
What a way to find out you've been all up in hermaphrodite gonads for years! I think I identify as a sailor now 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Even worse with sea urchins, you eat the reproductive organs part.
Not bad with a beer.
Uni!!!!!
I can never understand why they don’t just google these questions
They do
But just googling it wouldn't make for an interesting video
Also they want an excuse to go travel to places and such.
cool video!
Instead of telling me what the oranges part is, all i want to know is...is the orange part eatable?
of course and is the part with more flavour! Sadly in britain it is usually removed as british are not too keen to seafood/fish flavours
@@bryannoriegamiguel9192 What? No its removed if you buy frozen, buy fresh and its there.
so if you eat the female part it may taste fishy sounds about right
1:35 JUST LIKE HUMANS!
Scallop without the orange, tasteless
Well according to Ramsay, the orange part of the scallop tastes of nothing, and not to mention that it gets very rubbery.
I eat scallops without the orange thingy, taste pretty good. I tried the orange by itself and its a little bland
That’s what Gordon says about the orange part. They taste of nothing.
Agree completely, but the last couple of years I've not seen them any more with the orange on them.
Good quality scallop sashimi without the orange bit is amazing.
The Godfather of a million scallops

Hermaphrodite is an outdated term. Intersex would suit better.
