The only two teams in the next 10 years who has a chance via recruiting is Texas tech and UCF. UCF has the highest ceiling. Also, the expanded CFP will change the requirement of blue chip recruits needed as more teams with less % of them will be making the playoffs every year now
Seemed to forget about Sunshine at K-State as a once a generation QB. Who's Sunshine? Avery Johnson and a reference to the movie "Remember the Titans". One more thing, how many coaches in the B12 have National Championship rings in FB? There are 2 and they both are in Kansas! Klieman has 4 rings in 5 seasons and Leipold has 6 rings. The power of the new B12 could well be in the state of Kansas!
As a Texas fan, the only teams that could make any noise in the playoffs would be Utah, TCU, KState or OK state, but UCF Colorado and Tech are building something special too. Would suck to see most of the B12 get absorbed into the B10 while the rest get pulled into the sec once espn gives up the ACC to the Sec.

@@wrigs1 I think he was referring to Tech acquiring more talent than anyone else in the league, building one of the nicest facilities in the country, and having one of the best (if not the best) NIL programs in the Big12.

Texas Tech is not recruiting as well as Nebraska.
@@Mothball556 1. Who said anything about Nebraska? Nebraska is not in the Big12.
2. It depends who you ask. Based on On3's 2024 team rankings, Tech finished 23 and Nebraska finished 24. They are recruiting a very similar level of athlete right now.

The big ten is never making teams leave their conference. So yeah Indiana and Illinois are part of the power two. And as they get richer then the other two conferences they will get the better commits because they can afford them. Sucks for the other conferences but they got lucky to be in the right conference at the right time.
Um no they can’t need majority of your players to be 4* recruits to have a shot. Only one team has done it with 51% of its players being 4* and that was Clemson
In 2 years the majority of UCF's roster will be 4 stars. They'll have a shot. Now that Houston has a coach, they'll have a chance as well.
I don't know about a "majority" but yes UCF along with Texas Tech will have he best rosters in the Big12 based on current recruiting trends. UCF has a high ceiling and will be a fun team.
@michaeldavis2966 ucf and texas tech recruiting classes would be at the bottom of the sec even arkansas out recruits every big 12 team minus texas and ou who are headed to the sec the new big 12 doesn't have the money the facilities the tv exposure the history of putting players in the first round of the draft to get top talent required to win the championship
@@elvangulley3210 They will have similar talent to teams like Ole Miss S. Carolina, Kentucky, and Missouri by the end of a four year recruiting cycle. So if you consider those teams legitimate contenders then you have to consider Tech and UCF contenders as well.
And if you don't consider those SEC teams legitimate contenders, then we are really talking about 7-8 programs in the entire country that are capable of winning.
@michaeldavis2966 first off gonna need proof on that and second what titles are those programs winning or have won you guys are literally bragging about arkansas level talent and arkansas has struggled in the sec for decades
@@elvangulley3210 Well Tech is 4-1 against SEC teams since Joey McGuire was hired (I'm including UT and OU but also Ole Miss and Miss. St.). Secondly if we look at 247 recruiting for the 2024 class, TTU scored a rating of 236.09 vs Kentuck's 236.86, S. Carolina's 239.75, Ole Miss' 240.20 and Missouri's 241.93. Those are all close enough to be considered comparable recruiting classes.
No titles yet but both UCF and TTU are both programs with positive momentum and that's before the highly talented HS recruiting classes have had time to develop and make an impact.
You also mentioned that the Big12 doesn't have the facilities or resources but Tech has a top 20 NIL program and is building one of the nicest facilites in the country as we speak. It's a $250 million dollar facility.
Oklahoma State almost did in 2011. The Big 12 would need a team like that 2012 OKST team to catch lightning in a bottle and make a lucky run. Is it likely? Not at all. But is it possible? Sure.
I mean anything is possible. But can the Big12 now start out-recruiting the upper tier SEC/B1G teams? The stats are you need 51% blue chip ratio to have a shot. Unfortunately none of the remaining schools are close to that. 2 five star and 37 four star players in the entire conference for the 2024 class isn’t getting it done. The Big12 has an uphill battle to climb. For the 2024 class the B1G has 5 five star and 131 four star players and the SEC has 25 five star and 191 four star players. With NIL recruiting hasn’t seen a major uptick for most Big12 schools. Maybe Tech & OKlahoma State? But you don’t hear much about it from the Big12.
People put too much stock into * on recruiting… many 4* busts and even a decent amount of 5* busts that transfer..
@@dacokc And yet every year it’s the teams with the highest percentage of blue chips that win natties. See TCU as an example. Sure TCU beat Michigan. But ran into a buzzsaw against Georgia.

To further your point, Oregon grabbed 22 four-stars in their 2024 class. That's very nearly 60% of the entire B1G-12. The top 3 classes for 2024 includes more 4-star kids than in the entire BIG-12
The big12 is well behind the ACC with regard to talent.. they are a distant 4th in the P4
@@shallojalloh The ACC has 5 five star and 71 four star players just in the class of 2024. So they’re about even. Take out FSU, Clemson & Miami though and it heavily favors the Big12.

Anything is possible if you get into the playoff… just like Cinderella schools in the NCAA tournament..
There will always be room for blue collar programs that consistently do the little things right in season and during the off season. Colleges like Kansas State and Utah if they can retain their coaching staff over the next 5-6 years should have a good chance at making that playoff with the potential to advance beyond the first round.
Just look at the programs that spent a lot of money on acquiring talent via the NIL. Miami, Texas A & M, Colorado, and USC. All were major "flops" last season. Programs need the right mix of culture, players, work ethic, self discipline and strategic planning. Simply put we have over rated programs based on recruiting. Yet Kansas State and Utah continue to play at champion level football. Utah has beaten USC 3 times in a row and Kansas State was within one play of beating Texas this past season. Keep an eye on the blue collar over achieving programs. They will be in that playoff in the years ahead

It's absolutely crazy to think that Rutgers and Purdue are in a better spot than Oklahoma St, TCU and Texas Tech.

Don't forget about Iowa State. They have played for a Big12 title recently, too. They also have one of the best fanbases in college football and sell out the 2nd latest stadium in the Big12 with a 61,500 capacity.
Iowa St.'s not going to win a national championship.
You would think Houston and UCF would be those teams.
I agree that something has to give if they move to a Super League that the Vanderbilts, Rutgers, Marylands & Kentuckys that have been perinial doormats outside 1 or 2 good years, to be allowed in and other teams left out.
Vanderbilt has 6 national championships in football and is a founding member of the SEC. The SEC conference loves its members and those on the outside don’t understand. Add to that, the fact that there are by laws that protect the SEC members and it’s a tired take by those outside looking in. Best case is for those others to invest heavily in whichever conference they compete in and market their conference to build it up. Yormark gets it. It’ll take some time and some commitment from the membership schools.

@@chucky0034 Yeah, the only ones talking about it are the fans and podcasters of schools outside the SEC and B1G. There is literally zero talk coming from the SEC or B1G about relegation or dumping schools. LOL. Again, those that are outside don’t understand. Watch and see. Navigate is projecting 100 plus million dollar payouts per year per Existing members of the SEC by 2030. There are actual reports from verifiable news organizations on that fact. Joel Klatt and other podcasters can talk all they want but it’s not happening.
You can’t compare the big 12 to the lower half of the sec until they have played the same grind week in and week out.
Considering how 1/4 of the current SEC is former Big12 schools… yes most of the Big 12 knows what it’s like to grind out that schedule..

I’m not so sure he’s right UCF is knocking on the door of a top 25 recruiting class currently they have what a 17th rank recruiting class in 2025. Don’t know if that’s gonna last but they’re gonna be darn close to the top 25 in recruiting their average player ranking in 2024 was close to top 30 already There on a piece to have a top 20 average player rating in 2025

Recruiting isnt good enough, funding is way lower, no one in the new big 12 has even sniffed a playoff (outside of uc while they played in a terrible conference) much less played in a championship game, etc. Oops. Going forward, Utah might win a playoff game some time over the next 5 years. Arizona, maybe.
Anything is possible, but probably not. They probably will never have a team with the talent depth to win 4 playoff games. They had a better chance in the 4 team playoff and the bcs era.

Utah played mighty Ohio State to a standstill in Rose Bowl couple years back ... and beat Alabama in Sugar Bowl not so long ago as well. Don't count them out.

No. When none of the remaining teams won it before, what makes the big 12 fans think they will win it now? No one to blame but the remaining big 12 & themselves, plus their own fans base. Also none of the bottom teams in the SEC & Big 10 won anything & they are with the bigger schools. The only difference is the bottom schools are now in a conference called the big 12.
