I remember coming here one night in 2010 and I met people from Wales, China, Stoke, London and Yorkshire. What other club could attract people from all over the world. A place filled with nostalgia, gone but never forgotten....KTF.
It was so sad when I discovered it was closing down and been demolished for good . Went to the Wheel for the first time in 1969 and was hooked at the age of 16 .The original wheel was incredible the music, the atmosphere, and the people. I went to the Torch, and Blackpool Mecca but these place never came up to the standards of the Wheel later on tried wigan but by this time was working in the North sea. I still to this day love the music love the people but been living in brazil for the last 20 years, have downloaded hundreds of you tube videos and when we have a party at our house I always insist on an hour for Northern soul videos. Our Brazillian friendshave great rhythem and they are all now dancing Northern soul and not Samba . Many have asken me for copies of the videos maybe one day well have a big northern soul night here.
Such a sad day remember great nights that were had traveled up from Southend in Essex years from 1967 to 1969 maybe 1970 seeing some of the best soul artists happy days
Went to the Wheel when it reopened in the 80,s. It was brilliant then so God knows what it was like in its Hey Day but my friends who went back then say it was brilliant. What a moving film and what a dedicated group of Soulies. I love England!
I started out at the Dungeon and Beachcomber in Nottingham when I was 15. King Mojo in Sheffield at 16. Twisted Wheel at 17. That was in 1966. So sad it's gone :-(
Looking back on that day, I think I was in stunned denial. Like maybe the Wheel would get a last minute stay of execution. But I cant thank Pete enough for making it possible for me to go to a club that lived in legend when I first got into Northern Soul aged 14. I'm wiping away a tear at 13:15. Great times
Very sad to see an institution like that get treated like a toilet block getting knocked down. As we grow and creat culture that promotes joy, we should treat it like a place of worship and make sure to share it.
Great I'd love to get intoutch was all my friends from 73-81 Iam still northern soul danceing ktf Peter stewart ex wolverhampton champion dj and dance champion
Lucky and privileged to have been at the finale night in 2012, best soul club ever!!!! Pete Roberts, you are a top bloke for all your passion and dedication over the years Manchester CC you missed your opportunity to have the best ever advert for a dynamic music scene attracting a world audience.shame on you
The Wheel will always be alive. Now excuse me wile I go off somewhere to cry. We know the price of everything and the value of nothing (thank you Oscar).
How the hell did we dance in there, there was an exhibition at what was the old Salford Art School and the original Twisted Wheel iron sign was on loan, somebody has bought it.
Great Britain. Britain does this, Britain does that, Britain is one of the few european countries that destroys cultural sites like this without a second's thought.
The Twisted Wheel, Tiffanies, The Jungfraugh, The Under the Bedclothes Club, The Manchester Caven, Mr. Smiths, Rowntrees Spring Garden and Sound, The Drokoweeny, CIS. Great times…

If it's working class it will be covered under the grass. if it's upper class it will be maintained no questions asked.
I agree, why did they close it down.

I missed the place first time around....which makes this an even bigger cultural crime to me.... ✊🏽
I hope every business and hotel in the old spot fails so they learn why you never rip down a legendary place for no rason whatsoever.
