The watercolor of your little grandson is delightful, Louise! Thanks for sharing all of your techniques and knowledge with us! Btw, I don't tell you, but I love your bloopers at the end. And your new hairstyle is quite striking! I recall seeing some older videos where its similar and I recall thinking that loose style really suits you. I, myself, have worn this same style, longer or shorter versions for almost 50 years now. Naturally curly hair doesn't require much more than some hot rollers and little light brushing. 😉 Merry Christmas to you and Blessings to you and your family in the coming New Year. 🥳💜
Wow! Louise this a a beautiful painting of your gorgeous grandson! It looks so interesting painting on the aqua board and you did a great artwork! Thank you for sharing this new technique ❤Helene
Your out takes are funny, entertaining and keep them in, very touching, makes me smile. Probably because your work is so precise. Thank you for doing these on this platform.
I have never tried aqua board but would like to so your content was very helpful. Would you consider doing a tutorial on aqua board, perhaps letting your patrons know ahead of time so they could order some if interested and others could do the tutorial on regular watercolor paper? I always overwork my own paintings, so aqua board seems like something that would benefit me. The painting of your grandson is beautiful! Merry Christmas, Louise, to you and Dom.
Your portrait of your grandson is so good! I've never tried aquaboard, but I'd like to give it a whirl! Thanks for sharing! ❤ Merry Christmas to you, Dom, and your family, Louise! 🎄🎨🖌🎄
I painted my daughter’s dog, a long haired doxie on aqua board. Yes it is definitely different than watercolor paper, but I was able to get some unique texture on the long fur. Haven’t tried a smooth portrait on it yet. Thanks for sharing this tutorial the painting is beautiful and it demonstrated blended layers, very helpful! Merry Christmas to you and your family .🎄
Gosh that’s a gorgeous painting of your grandson! I have been curious to see what the Aquaboards were all about. I have used the canvas boards before, which I kind of like better for gouache than for watercolors . Thanks for sharing this wonderful informational video! I’m not sure if I am ready to give them a try yet but I do appreciate you sharing your thoughts about how they work with watercolors. It definitely looks like it works more forgiving than watercolor paper. Have a Merry Christmas 🎄 & a Happy Prosperous 2024 New Year!
Your painting is beautiful! He looks adorable. I’m just starting portrait painting and my grandchildren are my subjects. I’m trying hard to make them recognizable 😅. This was a great inspiration.
Beautiful portrait Louise! I've also been experimenting with Aquabord, as you said it's completely different than paper but it does have its advantages! As a painter who works with tons of glazing and wet in wet techniques it was a bit of a learning curve for me. One thing that worked for my process was using staining transparent colours, allowing me to glaze cleaner without lifting previous layers, because even though this product allows for easy lifting staining pigments still takes a bit more effort to lift! I'm curious to try the Claybord for my portrait work! I've heard that the surface is much smoother close to a HP paper.
Beautiful! And I love the final minutes of mistakes! Love all the explanations and tips and feel more confident on trying it myself. A question: can u speed up the drying process with a hairdryer like on watercolor paper? Thx
This board is also called clay board which we use to airbrush on, but could also use watercolour, acrylics etc….don’t have to stretch watercolour paper !😊
My question is, with the highly liftable nature of aquabord, does that change the applicability of cold wax as a sealant? It seems to me that the particles of paint lay more on the surface than on paper, so I’d be wary that the cold wax would smudge the paint, where it doesn’t on cotton. Or would you need to use a fixative spray first and then cold wax? And then, would the fixative spray bleed the colors as well? Anyone with any experience on these specifics?
Absolutely lovely portrait of your grandson!
Watching Louise paint and listening to her voiceovers means so much every time, for I learn from each and every one of her watercolor endeavors.

Have you ever tried to use coffee as a paint to paint? I suggest you can try new thing to explore. 😊 I adore your art, Louise ❤
I wonder if Inktense would be permanent on it! Thanks for this video Louise, Merry Christmas X

Thank you Hanna. I use one. I wait until it's not super wet though- so I don't blow it everywhere.
Excellent portrait! How does it handle staining pigments? Do they lift easily? Thanks.
Hi Louise. Did you get your board from Amazon ? Also did you get one single board or the set of three? ❤️
Gorgeous painting. Is there anyway to seal it without using a spray varnish? There's no way I'm spraying that anywhere near me.
