    Funny he subtly mentions that the diatoms are plants. Diatoms are actually protists belonging to the kingdom of life known as Protista, which is largely different from plants. Plants are multi-cellular. Plant-like protists are often uni-cellular, like these diatoms.

    How is oil unsustainable if it came from animals and plants?

    • @MrAerohank

      Operation Pravda It forms at a slower pace than at which we use it. This is why it is 'unsustainable' and not a 'finite' resource (like say, gold is).

    I actually used to enjoy coloring those "oil comes from plants and animals" coloring books in Kidergarden..same ones that had T-Rex standing up like Godzilla with a Caveman standing next to it
    Geolodist look for plate tectonic or ancient volcamo formations for "oil sign" for a reason..it's abiotic as Tiger feilds 20 miles down in solid granite floor of Earth'/'s crust clearly shows
    "easy oil" at surface used to be found at shale rich fossil sites thus old hypothises fossils break down to oil

  • @akashashen
    @akashashen 12 років тому +1

    Focusing on the limited perspective of post-biosphere formations of the sources (why we call them fossil fuels) poses a number of challenges due to contextual weakness of the argument (and I'm not talking about, "where diatomaceous earth comes from").
    As noted by many astrophysical observations, hydrocarbons don't depend on life. I know you cover the physical effects of atmospheric chemical change elsewhere, but the simple focus allows opponents the opportunity to construct strawman arguments.

  • @broark88
    @broark88 2 роки тому +1

    So it'll change the composition of the atmosphere to something similar to what it was when life was still flourishing and those fuels were first formed. And this is a problem that warrants restricting life-giving energy to billions of human beings for... What reason exactly?

    • @wanderingNprobablylost
      @wanderingNprobablylost Рік тому

      You're missing two key facts: 1) is the environment hundreds of millions of years ago optimal for humans' life NOW? 2) since hundreds of millions of years have passed and trillions of organisms have lived and died since then, adding back all that carbon dioxide back on top of the changes now does not provide the same condition.

    is there a way ( with using sustainable energy like solar ) to recreate this natural process a lot faster? Seems very unlikely but I am not scientist

    • @davidmueller3212
      @davidmueller3212 7 років тому

      Solar energy isn't actually sustainable because you need rare earth elements to be mined. Rare Earth's are (as you can imagine) rare, and so they are difficult to find, and often times found with radioactive elements.

      Oil is a biproduct of the earths center core, the planet was once a ball of molten elements which separated as the outer crust was cooling and a large part of the elements was water which evaporated forming the atmosphere, natural gas also is produced by the core so may be a more inexhaustible resource,
