I love the patterns and the fabric you chose. I enjoy your videos and the patterns you show and discuss. Your entries to the contests have been outstanding. I particularly remember the jacket you made. Thank you.
I really like the tank. I’ve heard of Anna Zoe but haven’t tried any patterns yet. Love that she’s Canadian and Albertan as well. Thanks for sharing this
I will definitely look into those patterns. The tops looked good on you. I think the red looked best tied at the bottom. I can’t sew anything at the moment as I packed it all up today. We leave Monday to head back to Virginia. It will take me a couple days to get back to normal . However getting my sewing things unpacked and put back is top priority. I have some patterns I ordered before I left for our vacation and I can’t wait to dig into them. Best of luck with the contest.
Victoria, the tie on the top was very much impromptu but I agree that it is the best way to wear it. Funny how sometimes our eyes tell us what to do! Hope your trip home was uneventful and you didn't encounter any weather surprises!
@Janine Sews • Janine: That tank fits perfectly. I don't think I've ever had a tank that fits so well. The red polka dot shirt has vibes of a camp shirt, which are always great for warmer weather. Thanks for showing us your makes. They make it easier to assess the patterns. Also, many thanks for using chapters. I wish all the bloggers did.
Thank you, Yvonne! I think you're right about the red top - it is very much like a camp shirt, especially with that open collar. It will definitely be something that can be worn whenever summer arrives here. I am very pleased that the chapters are helpful. Thanks so much for sharing that with me. ❤️
Love both patterns and the fabrics. You say you're not advanced, but you do beautiful work. You seem very skilled! Definitely getting both of these patterns. That's one of the best fitting tees I've seen in a while. White tees are classic! I'm getting Marie Lecoeur French vibes from you with these two garments.❤❤ Beautiful.
Hahaha! Meg, I watch a lot of Marie Lecoeur's videos! She has such great style and I always seem to learn something from her. I love how European women seem to have such effortless style. I'm really trying to improve my sewing skills, and especially attempt more complicated things this year. Some of my in-real-life sewing friends do absolutely magnificent work and that is helping me to set goals to improve 😊
I loved the red polka dot shirt 👏👏👏, so nice and flowy. The white tank top fitted you so well, I didn’t see your bra in the back, it covered well 🙌🏻🙌🏻.
Oh thank you! I think that the back bra strap may show just a smidge but that might be solved with a different bra. So much better than thinking about where to put the safety pin. 😊
Thanks for sharing what you made for sewfrugal. The red blouse is so pretty, I loved the tied up in front styling. This I my 3rd year entering. The first year, I made my own pattern for a dress, and have only worn it once! I will be taking it apart and making something else. Last year I made the Paolo jacket and love it. Definitely one of my favourite jackets. This year I made tshirts using the Make It Better Yourself ABB tshirt pattern. Another winner pattern. I am now going to check out some of those free patterns you showcased. Good luck, I hope you win something!
Jennett - I can't believe that you drafted your own dress pattern! Wow! That alone deserved to win something ... That Paolo jacket is cute! I'm writing that one down for next year.
Janet, I bought that fabric at a thrift sale two years ago and it always catches my eye but I'm not quite sure what to make. It's cotton interlock (likely 80s or 90s) and is only 115 cm wide. Ideas?
I really like that tank and I’m going to download it for sure. I have a dolman camp style pattern from Love Notions and I’m thinking I could make a combo like yours that would work well with my summer wardrobe. Thanks you for the inspiration.
Hi Janine, loved seeing your makes styled at the end, both look like really useful additions to your wardrobe now that you’re retired. Thanks for joining the challenge again🤗
Sam, thanks so much for watching my video, and especially for leading the challenge again this year. We truly appreciate all of the work that you and Ruan put into this. ❤️
I thought the red shirt looked great tied in front but also thought "kimono!" when you first showed it open - and the tank is great and would be something to make multiples of, for sure. Also like that bunny in the background! I had to laugh when I saw the blue fabric from Joann - I bought it and forgot I had it until you showed it! Yeah, if you don't remember what you have, you probably have too much...
Thanks! The tie at the front was completely unplanned and I agree that it looks better that way or open at the front. There's a black sleeveless dress in my closet that always needs something on top so perhaps that will be the best way to wear the red top. The bunny is Luna Lapin - it's a kit! So much fun to put together. So now that you remembered that you have that fabric, are you going to use it? 🤔🤣
I like your blouse tied in the front! I habpve made the Styla Reina. I love it. I will be anxious to see if you like the top with the sweetheart neckline.
Love the blouse and tank top. I tend to catch sleeves like that on door knobs which rips the shirts 🤦 so I would probably put elastic in the sleeves. That might also make it look smaller?
Hmmm - that's a really good tip! I haven't worn a top like this in a while but come to think of it, they do get caught on door handles. I might play around with either rolling up the sleeves and cuffing them, or maybe adding some elastic. I suppose you could even gather them and add a cuff. Thank you for sharing this!
Gorgeous combo! I actually gasped when you showed the blouse open and tied at the waist. The tank looks amazing and I love that it’s cut in a bit but does cover the bra perfectly. I might have to look at that pattern for this summer. Xx
Thank you, Izzy! The tie-at-the-waist was sort of a desperation move since I didn't like the way it looked open. Although I saw that Cashmerette has the new Club pattern camp shirt tied at the waist so maybe it's a thing? ❤️
Hi from Queensland Australia Janine. I love your tank and blouse combo. The tank fits perfectly and would be a great wardrobe basic so I think I will give that one a try and your blouse drapes so beautifully and can be worn multiple ways so I will have to add that to my collection as well. You are very brave tackling chiffon but the drape works so well in that top. I'll be adding some of your other suggestions to my free patterns list as well. Love your work and always enjoy your channel Janine.❤❤
Yay! This came up on my feed so i guess you made up with UA-cam 😉🤣. Great video. I think that tank fits you quite well. I love that top with the sweetheart neckline, Christelle Coud, Badiane. I'm definitely checking that out. Thanks.
Leann, I'm so glad that it came through. I don't always understand UA-cam, but it's definitely more reliable than Instagram where I'm still getting posts from January 🤣 Please let me know if you try the Badiane. It looks so pretty!
Thank you for the shout-out! I downloaded those patterns, they look great on you!! I love the blouse tied! wow chiffon is challenging to me glad to know the fine needles helped!
I love the patterns and the fabric you chose.

Great video. Your makes deserve to win! Thanks for listing the free patterns-so helpful. Happy Easter.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching! ❤️ And hope you had a nice Easter 🐣

Hello from sunny Atlanta! This video was fantastic! I love your style and your dialogue. ❤️ And the red top was gorgeous!
Hello ATL! Thank you so much!! I'm missing sunny Atlanta these days ... pictures of my tulips popped up in memories 🌷
I liked it tucked in, made you look thinner. Nice make.
I agree that wearing it loose takes away all waist definition, and that's something that I definitely need. Thank you for watching!

I noticed the pink and white striped fabric laying on the table next to you. I thought you were going to talk about it. It looked so pretty.
Janet, I bought that fabric at a thrift sale two years ago and it always catches my eye but I'm not quite sure what to make. It's cotton interlock (likely 80s or 90s) and is only 115 cm wide. Ideas?
I love the tank and blouse. Job well done!! They look very good on you!
Thank you so much!
The tank looks like a great pattern, I will have to give it a try maybe in a dress length. Thank you for sharing 🇨🇦
Beautiful makes.
Thank you! 😊

Jan, that sounds like a great idea! A camp shirt and tank combo would be invaluable for spring and summer.

@@JanineSews you’re welcome Janine 🤗
Red blouse and tank top are really beautiful and look great on you. Look great in red! So enjoy your show!
Thank you so much!
Your blouse and top turned out fabulous, looks great on you.
Thank you so much!
❤the waist tie on the blouse. Great cover up
Thank you, Elsie! I agree that tying the front is the best way to wear it.
Love the bunny!
Thanks, Leslie! That's Luna Lapin - a very fun bunny that sews up quickly. www.coolcrafting.co.uk/luna-lapin/

@@JanineSews Ummm...🙄...well, I'd like to...eventually...after all, I had a reason I bought it, right 😁?!?
I like your blouse tied in the front! I habpve made the Styla Reina. I love it. I will be anxious to see if you like the top with the sweetheart neckline.
Thanks for sharing your good experience with the Reina top! It's good to see something a bit unique in a knit top pattern.
I also think your red shirt looks beautiful tied.
Thank you! I think that's how it will be worn - for sure 😁
