    Hi all,
In my previous videos you have seen solar water heater installation details, parts, plumbing details, site requirements etc. In this video i'm going to show you the Solar collector internal parts, its construction, working procedure, precautions etc. Here i'm showing both Flat plate collector model and Evacuated tube collector technical details.
Generally flat plate collectors were widely used before inventing the ETC tube. Now more and more people are going for ETC model as it is efficient, faster, long lasting, low maintenance, higher warranty, lower heat loss etc. These comparison also i've shown in the video.
FPC Collector : Major parts of FPC collector are Toughened glass cover, copper raiser, header, footer tubes, interconnecting flanges, aluminium fins, PUF or glass wool insulation, GI or aluminium alloy side cover. Most of the branded manufacturers like V-Guard will provide copper tubes, other vendors will give aluminum tubes.
Working : Here water flows in the collector panel through these copper tubes supported with aluminum fins. These aluminum wings coated with black chrome absorbing coating will collect heat from sun light and pass it to water flowing inside the tube. These copper tubes are of around 10 mm dia. These copper tubes are welded and joined together. There is chance of salt formation on the tube surface and welding joints, which leads to rusting and leakage over a period of time This can be avoided by cleaning the panel once in a while.
ETC Collector : ETC Tubes are twin tubes, with triple layer coating, vacuum in between. This vacuum works like thermos flask, keeps water hot for longer duration. These tubes are generally strong enough to withstand hailstorms upto 25 mm, children playing around with balls will not damage the tube. But small sharp tiles, stones fallen on the glass will lead to tube breakage. Once tube is broken we cant get water at the solar outlet line, and the water in the storage tank also spill out. Evacuated tube collectors are generally of 58 mm dia, so that it can hold more quantity of water as compared to FPC and are directly exposed to sunlight so that the heat absorbing capacity (ie.efficiency )of the ETC collector is higher than FPC collector. Tubes are filled with water, but the selective coating is on the outer body of inner tube, which does not have any contact with water. Chances of rusting and clogging is also less compared to FPC.

    Thank you
