A higher power is definitely telling you guys to keep your cottage.
Tobias, all of us appreciate this channel and the things that you two may view as rambling or boring. We like the chatter, home wear, vlogs, hearing about life events such as the home sale & your mental health. You two are humans so perfection is impossible.
Maybe you guys could vlog (holiday trips, shopping ect) once a month instead 🥰
Keep up the good work gents…and in the last vlog, you looked super fit in your white vest Tobias 💪🏽

Hi both thanks for the honest update . I think until you are really clear on what you want it’s probably best to stay put anyway - you have a beautiful home . Good luck with your surgery and recovery Toby 😊

Everything happens for a reason as they say. Being an estate agent I know all the stresses that go with buying and selling. If you are able to keep your cottage and buy somewhere else too, then that sounds like a very good solution. Best wishes for your surgery Toby.

Hello Toby and Mikey-Just got through watching this video. As the saying goes...when life gives you a lemon...make lemonade! It seems like you are doing that as you consider your options, and it prompted me to respond by sharing my experience with house options.
I've owned a fairly large home close to downtown Portland Oregon which i love...but the older i get the more i am certain i am most comfortable in small spaces (i.e. it has an 800 foot second floor which i really wasn't using as i prefer one level living). At the same time i have always had a passion for living by the ocean, as vacations to the beach were integral to my happy childhood.
So this is what i did: about 16 years ago i bought a 450 square foot condo across the street from ocean front property in a city about 2 hours drive away. It is located in a converted very large house constructed in 1938 which has been subdivided into 5 small condos. Fortunately, my little place is on the top floor and has a nice view of the beach and people (and their dogs) going to the beach. I only get down there for about 3 days every 4 weeks, and once i get there i always wonder why i don't go there more often. but at the end of my stay there...i also look forward to returning to my large Portland house.
What i am saying is that sometimes one just wants to get out of the same four walls.
But i think my life is richer for being able to live this way. In Portland I have a group of friends i play tennis with...and at the beach there is a large group of pickleball players i play with. (not to mention beach walks, different restaurants, shopping, weather, even the air is different).
When i retired 4 years ago, i decided to do something with the 2nd floor of my Portland home which, with the exception of the occasional guest, i wasn't utilizing. I transformed it to an apartment (with the construction of an exterior stairway to the second level and changing two windows into an exterior doorway) and it is now a cozy apartment for a quiet single lady who has lived up there for 3 years. She has a kitchen/living area, a bedroom, full bathroom, and washer and dryer. This living arrangement has worked out very well for me, as in addition to everything else, my life partner lives in a neighboring country and i go away several times a year to his place for 4-6 weeks (and he comes here as well), and i don't have to leave my large Portland home uninhabited for extended periods of time.
Just wanted to share my thoughts with you. In the end, it isn't WHERE you LIVE, but THAT you LIVE. I sure didn't plan how my living situation would be...but i am very satisfied with the ability to not be looking at the same four walls every day.
Keep and open mind...it sounds like you are considering all possibilities, but just wanted to share my experience. Oh, and speedy recovery to you Toby.

I moved to Bristol because I met someone from there. I lived happily for 25 years. Our first house took 3 years to sell, and then suddenly it all happened . Our second home was lovely, but a health scare reovaluated our thoughts. Last year, we moved to the Shropshire Countryside and took early retirement. I have been so happy the last few months. Sometimes you have to just go for it. Life's to short🧡

We moved from Essex to Norfolk - I spend a lot of time going back, for the vet, dentist, friends, family etc. It is more of a wrench than I anticipated. Also if you are thinking of letting out a property as a holiday let, it’s quite stressful have done this too, but easier if you are nearby and do the cleaning yourself!! 😂

Hi I am 76 this year and my husband 80 we moved away from the city I was born in I felt a need to live eles where test myself go out of my comfort zone so at 58 and 54 left our house with nowhere to go basically we booked a holiday stayed at my sisters stayed at my cousins moved back to my place of birth and took over my daughters house for 2 years while she was in Japan Eventually after 4 years we found a bungalow that immediately felt like home we gutted it and lived there for 11 years knew nobody but left knowing more people than I ever expected including a very dear friend who .I still see We took the decision to move back because of exactly what your friend says you spend alot of time hosting or travelling However I am so glad I had my adventure! We're now in a smaller bungalow which we extended and in a lovely st with lovely neighbours I have come back to where I left my heart ❤ I think you are lucky not to have to sell to buy another property wishing you well whatever you do x

Aw love you guys and your channel. Sounds exciting if you go for a project to let out and use. We did this years ago and hope you don’t mind me sharing the best advice we followed which was to write a list of what was important and what would rent/let well and the had a scoring criteria next to that list (ie no/ bedrooms, location, parking, outside space, cost of work, USP attraction etc. we also added a weighting, so for example in the area we knew there were lots of 2 beds, but hardly any 3 beds, so if we found a property in our budget with 3 beds this score was doubled. This was so useful as helped focus on why was good business, and avoid letting the heart rule, it also had on the list a score for how much we loved it too ❤. We then could see which properties scored high especially for letting and we have a very successful holiday let now. Good luck in whatever you choose. xx

Sometimes not making a decision, is a decision. Unsolicited…focus on your health, best for your upcoming surgery…take comfort in having a supportive husband, home, pups and family to get you to optimal health. Plans for a garden refresh are fun..especially as spring is around the corner. Maybe a vision board while your recovering. Thanks for the honesty. Best…..🌞🙏🐾🏠☮️

Hi chaps. Firstly I love your coffee cups. I’m so sorry your plans didn’t go as you would have liked. I do love the cottage as you know but I understand the feeling off having a further adventure somewhere else. It’s a very stressful situation moving. Thanks for being so open & I know you’ll be so happy just being together where ever you are. Wow can’t wait till you get in the garden so pleased you’re going to tackle it. Toby all the best for your surgery & recovery. Mikey you’re so funny, brightened up my Sunday. Catch ya later.
