  • John from www.discountjuicers.com/ shares with you how you can vacuum seal your juices, smoothies, soups, salad, or food in a mason jar using only a vacuum blender.
In this episode, you will learn a few of the different techniques John uses to vacuum seal his juices and other foods in glass mason jars using various methods including Standard lid and Foodsaver wide mouth mason jar sealer and hand pump, using Soligt lids and a pump or simply using a vacuum blender carafe and the vacuum pump that is included with every vacuum blender.
You will learn how you can vacuum blend in your Vitamix, despite Vitamix not making a vacuum blender at this time. You will also learn about the all-new Blendtec Vacuum blender and learn how you can vacuum store mason jars using it.
By Vacuum storing your juices, smoothies, and food, it can last significantly longer while maintaining a higher level of nutrition in the juice.
You will learn how easy most vacuum blender carafes are a mini vacuum chamber that you can use the pull a vacuum on anything that is put inside the carafe.
After watching this episode, you will how easily you can pull a vacuum on any mason jar so you can store your juices, smoothies, soups, salads, and foods under vacuum so you can retain higher levels of nutrition and have a longer shelf life.

Hi Livojj98cc! I hope you're well. Just curious why you would think a glass carafe would be better for blending? I would have thought the risk of a glass carafe shattering would be quite high if say you pulsed ingredients like nuts because they do get thrown around quite a bit. Are there still issues with BPA-free Triton carafes? As far as I'm aware, I still think these are a great option and last for years with no nasty accidents, e.g. dropping your wedding ring (eek) and blending it!

Any idea when the Blentec will release the vacuum carafe that fits the Vitamix? I just used my old original Vitamix carafe to make a smoothie and in 10 minutes it was brown and yucky. I like the looks of the Biochef model but the Blendtec appears to be more powerful and I like the square carafe vs the narrow. Thanks John!!

Could you just fill the liquid to the very top of the jar, wouldn’t that eliminate air from the container?

I'm guessing both vacuums pull somewhere between 17 and 23 Hg of vacuum. 26-29 Hg is generally considered excellent/optimal while the standard household vaccum sealers (eg. Vacuum Saver brand) usually achieve 17-23 Hg which is generally considered adequate. It would be amazing if the vacuum pulling could be tested & verified.

I'm bummed, John. I LOVE your BioChef carafe for the Vitamix, but the general public seems not to be embracing vacuum blending like I hoped they would. It's just sad to use a regular blender now that vacuum blending is available. Glad to see BlendTec stepping up with the vacuum upgrade, and if any of the powers-that-be at Vitamix are reading this ... shame, shame, shame.

Great news, John, I didn't think about putting the jar inside the carafe. I thought I'd have to buy/wait on the food save attachment which you said is out of stock and on back order. Now with my biochef device I won't have to do that. Thanks!

Thanks so much for this video John! You're a legend! Greetings from the UK. Just letting you know I actually managed to get the Food Saver Wide Mouth Mason Jar Sealer in the US after much searching for a few months (couldn't buy it on Amazon) - I managed to track them down from a small local houseware store called Goodmans in Miami - my item actually arrived in the post on the weekend, so absolutely pleased with it. This answered so many questions, but had just one - I noticed you didn't really recommend the red fermentation style lids for vacuum sealing, but can you use the Biochef Vacuum sealing device instead of that red and white pump you showed in your video? Thanks so so much for all the work you do! You also helped me purchase my juicer and literally can't wait to properly start my juicing journey. 😃

That's what I've been doing. It's worth the money to buy one just for vacuum sealing!
