Yesterday I had a good example of why it's a good idea to be prepared whenever you drive. Crossing the border into the US to drive to MA for my step mother's long delayed funeral, border crossing shut down for over 2 hours due to a system outage. Security agents walking down the very long lines of vehicles occasionally to tell people to get back in their vehicles and be patient. Some folks were honking horns, getting impatient, yelling that they needed food or a toilet. I pulled my collapsible mug and a packet of miso soup out of my tote bag, poured out some hot water from the thermos at my feet, and calmly sipped miso soup, nibbled senbai, and read a book until things started moving again. Later in the day, I stopped to have a snack at a service center that was closed down - they had a gas pump and a porta pottie, everything else closed. I watched an older lady walk toward the porta potty, open door, and sort of jump back in horror. I was able to hand her a sealed "Potty pack" which had a seat wipe, hand wipe, tushie wipe, seat cover, and paper. It was enough clean stuff to allow her to use it. (Yes, they are a real product, from the company by the same name!)
I have hiking sticks, two folding chairs and a folding table (they fold into carry sacks and have tent pole style legs), a bivy, a small tarp, a rain poncho/shelter, hat and gloves, walking shoes, cashmere socks (so warm!),-first aid kit, a daypack with the essentials, but no clothes at the moment. I need to add a few things. I keep a Matador blanket, small first aid kit, Swiss Army knife, flashlight, folding eating utensils, a water bottle, snacks, Budi and power brick, shopping bag, mirror with light, eye drops, meds, pen, pad, small tablet, in my purse, and an insulated thermos for coffee/hot water in the console. We're required to have a breakdown kit in the car, which has jumper cables, fix a flat, high-viz vest, reflective triangle, jack, and flashlight. I also have a strip flashlight with different settings that has magnets so it can stick to the inside of the hood, if necessary. My partner thinks I'm mad.
Oh my gosh I feel like we’re related! So much of what you have is exactly what I have! You’ve mentioned that you are required to have an emergency kit in your car and I’m wondering where you’re from?
@@TheoryofSimple Wouldn't that be fun! I'm in Ireland. But I lived in Orange County for 23 years. An earthquake kit was practically mandatory, and I still carry the same things walking here as I did in the San Bernardino Mountains - except pepper spray. It's illegal here.
@@curious855 well, I’m so glad that living in Southern California prepared to for emergencies because they can happen anywhere! Just curious as to what you do carry with you on hikes if you feel like you need to protect yourself from someone or something?😊
@@TheoryofSimple we don't have any dangerous animals, except the occasional stag or bull, and they're easy enough to avoid. I'm legally entitled to defend my home, if I'm in it. In the wild, my wits are my only defense. Everything you could think of to defend yourself, barring martial arts (and it wouldn't want to have lethal consequences) are illegal. Fortunately, Ireland is still one of the safest countries for women, although domestic violence is not uncommon. There's a thing called the 2019 Women's Danger Index, which scores countries from most dangerous (highest score) to least (lowest score). Ireland is at the bottom, with only Singapore and Spain having lower scores. But, like everywhere, violence towards women is increasing. There was a highly publicised murder of a young woman in the last year, who was attacked while on her daily walk, but I have heard nothing about making self-defense easier for women.
@@curious855 it is so sad to hear that violence against women, men rising,. I’m really not understanding why that is.. but I do know that, even though it would be illegal for me to carry something like pepper spray, I would be carrying some sort of multitool or blade or something like a good heavy, walking stick that I could use as a self-defense tool. I guess I’ve just had too many times where either somebody weird started following me and I just felt really uneasy, and wanted to have options for protection. Thank you for sharing that background and everything with us.💕😊
Hi, love your videos. You can also use your head rest to break a window. All cars head rests are removable. This is designed as a safety feature just in case you can’t get to the glass breaker. 😊
Hi Eunice, you are really speaking my language here! Growing up in the Great White North, where for at least 4 months a year, getting stuck in your car could become a death sentence, we learn to prepare our vehicles for emergencies before we learn to drive. Where I live, items for winter survival take priority, so I have many more warmth items. (One tip for winter sleeping in your car here: unless you are wearing snow boots, take off your boots and wet socks, put on the wool socks you keep in your car, then place an activated hand warmer along the bottom of each foot, then top with heavy wool slipper socks, then finally wrap feet in a survival blanket. All of that will go into your emergency bivvy with the rest of your body!) In cold climates, taking care of your feet in the cold is essential, every winter one hears at least one story of someone being stuck in their vehicle overnight and needing to have their feet amputated due to frostbite.) I would love to have a vehicle like yours, mine is much smaller and less well thought out in its design (it was literally the only small crossover in the car place when my venerable old steed gave up the ghost). Far less space in mine, so I need to rely more on organizers slung over seats. Molle back seat organizers on both back seats filled with pouches of useful stuff, including a small Barocook and fuel packets for heating food or water inside the car and a small fire extinguisher, a combination trash bag/tissue holder on the front seat, a cute front seat organizer from Vera Bradley that doubles as a walker organizer when I need to walk around stores and use my walker for pain. I also keep an unexpected motel stay bag in my car for those times I might need to stay somewhere without having planned it, a cook/drink kit with a single walled water bottle in a molle water bottle bag, and a Mountain House bucket in case of longer stay (the bucket takes up more space, but helps cut down on rats and mice getting into it - in my very old house and alleyway shed garage, mice and rats are an enormous problem.) Some of the things you mention, like pepper spray, are illegal here. I discovered a while back that US border guards get very shirty about people having anything in their vehicle when crossing the border (enough cash for a couple of nights at a motel in my wheel well got me stuck in secondary for about 3 hours when I crossed the border a few months ago), so I tend to take nearly everything out when I cross the border. I am doing that fairly frequently at present, living on a border city - usually to shop or pick up some gadget I've ordered from your Amazon shop which I can't find here in Canada. I have to be very careful, but I do keep the classic AAA emergency bag, which doesn't usually raise eyebrows, with a few small additions, and a water bottle, and a VSSL flashlight filled with small emergency supplies in my glove box. That doesn't appear to be suspicious. But I feel better when I can stay this side of the border and keep all my winter necessities in the car.
I have always traveled with snacks and water plus a blanket in the back. You take it to the next level. I am going to add a few of the items you have in your Jeep. Thank you Eunice for a very helpful video.
Excellent video! Colin Fletcher wrote a great book on backpacking that has a list of the 10 essentials of Camping. That is my go to list for emergency supplies to keep in my car. First, I keep an extra days worth of my meds in my purse at all times. Chemical hand warmers, non-perishable food, water, first aid kit, pocket knife with multi-tool, extra batteries, waterproof matches, extra jacket & socks, & a rain poncho all in a sturdy back pack, An emergency car kit, weather dependent supplies, weather radio, and a blanket stay in my car as well. Also don’t forget to refresh your kit yearly! Products expire, meds also, & batteries go bad. My Tip: A pack of baby wipes and a microfiber cloth are invaluable.
I have a lot of the items you have, but not nearly as much or as organized as yours....I need to remedy that! I have 2 dogs, so I have a bag for them with water bowls, a couple of bottles of water (that get replaced regularly), extra collars and leashes ( I had a collar break on a walk once), pre-packaged treats, toys, poop bags, etc. They have harnesses and seat belts attachments as well, and they each have a bed in the backseat to be nice and comfy on long rides. They also each have a backpack so they can help carry the load if needed! Oh, and they are very protective, so great deterrents to shady folks. They are with me most of the time.
This video is very informative. I keep a lot of the same things you keep in your vehicle. I also keep glass cleaner, water, oil for my vehicle, extra sunglasses, a bowl, a leash, a harness, poop bags, seat belt and a copy of the shot record for the dog.
Thank you so much! It’s funny you mention glass cleaner because I just took it out of the car because I wasn’t using it much but I might put it back in there! And yes if you have a pet, you definitely need to treat that for a family member with love and care🦮🐾🦴
Great video! You shared several items I need to add to my vehicle. I don’t have a need for much survival gear, and I live where it gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter, so probably couldn’t carry some of the pressurized items you have on an everyday basis. Would definitely throw them in for camping! I always have a dog leash in case I come across a lost dog, heavy duty gloves for unexpected and unpleasant tasks, packing tape for closing a package, a few stamps in case I remember I need to mail a birthday card while I’m out running errands, a pair of socks because I inevitably decide to stop and try on shoes on a day I’m wearing flip flops, and I always have scissors and probably use them weekly - if only to open snacks. ;)
Thank you so much! Sounds like you’re very prepared! Are used to carry stamps and packing tape, but I very rarely need those so I remove them from my car. Truly appreciate your feedback and sharing with this community.😊🙏
Travel in rural New England. Always water, extra down coat in the winter, mittens, hat, boots, blanket, shovel. Something fluorescent to tie on antenna.
Yes! I lived in New Hampshire for eight years and I remember those cold winters❄️🌨️☃️ you also had to have an ice scraper and chains and special things for your shoes so you could walk on the black ice! Oh, and you also need to have something to unfreeze a lock on your car door! ❄️❄️❄️
Great video!!! I love how you put eye wound care in your first aid kit. It's not common to see someone else that does that. Keeping safety goggles is a good idea too. I keep a lot of things in my car. I have an emergency radio that is solar/handcrank/battery powered (which has a flashlight, flasher, and can charge things) in my car emergency backpack. I also have a small device that is a personal alarm, glass breaker, seatbelt cutter, blade protector for the seatbelt cutter that glows in the dark, a flashlight, and an emergency flasher. I also bring my Swiss Champ knife, a slingshot, ammo, pepper gel, a stun gun/flashlight combo, an emergency blanket, an emergency bivvy, a fire kit, a solar panel, USB batteries, etc. I keep a fishing vest in the car to keep important items on your person.
You are definitely prepared for anything! Yes, I like to keep an eye wash kit in my emergency kit because that’s one thing that you need to take care of immediately! Are used to carry one of those solar Craig radios, but it just never seem to hold power even if I kept cranking it, it just start died. Maybe they have some better ones out now that I can look at. Thank you for giving us all of your items and feedback 🙏so that those of us can keep everything prepared in our cars! 😊❤️
Wow I loved all the peoples comments so interesting especially what you need for winter, here in hawaii I would worry a can would explode in the heat. So different problem here I should keep a portable fan I have several of them, I will put one in my car. And I have a table from Amazon that I can put on my steering wheel works really well.
Yes, different regions require some different equipment depending on where you live. I tried that steering wheel table and for some reason it just didn’t work well for me. I’m thinking of getting the one that fits in the cupholder and has a place to hold your cup and food..
There is a saying 2 is 1, 1 is none. I like that you have backups for things that would be hard to do with out because things can break or fail all the time. Great list. I have two car jump batteries but they are about half the size of yours but that way I can jump not only my car but charge my phone and/or jump someone else and it also comes with an air compressor attachment so I can inflate a tire or a ball.
OMG!!! You are truly THE Gadget Queen! Love all your ideas… and what I especially like is that they are gender neutral ideas that every traveler should have🤩
I just visited your store. Nice selections, and I carry part of that stuff in a mobile pack. Starting to think about a Faraday cage. You saved me some shopping time. I drive around with a huge battery, so everything will be charged. Theses days I keep everything charged and have multiple power bricks.
We are very much alike, and I always feel like I’m carrying around more power than I need on a daily basis, but there are times like today when I was in the hospital all day and both my phone and my boyfriends phone or dying and I was so glad I have the batteries with me! It’s like house insurance car insurance you don’t want it but you’re so glad when you have it😊 truly appreciate you watching and giving me your feedback on my videos!
I like your tool kit and the trekking pole. I also have the car charger unit.. big saver. I also carry a small portable air compressor for tires. I liked this video and thank you 😎👍🏻
I carry a tire inflater that plugs in the cigarette lighter. On sand, I've had to deflate my tires a bit. It's good to be able to fill my tires back up.
That’s a great idea! I used to have a tire later, but I don’t know what happened to it. I definitely need to get a new one. I just keep it in the car. I want to thank you for the tip on the sand because I never knew that’s how you drove on sand.😊🙏❤️ thank you so much for sharing that😊
Here we go again LOL, I have half of what you have but I do have a container with all of those things in it. Never leave my home without one insulate Contigo bottle with cold iced water and one with coffee or Chai tea. I have the same Jumper cable you have and the battery as well. Because I live in NC and we have cold winters, I keep a blanket in the back of my SUV. I keep protein bars, a couple of bottled water, first Aid kit, carabenas, gloves, Jack, set of bolts and screws, Engine oil, plastic like the ones they have in Lowes in the Nursery, so that I can protect my car when I get plants. I also got in Amazon a set of three foldable insulated shopping bags that I take with me all the time and have some when I travel. So yes, I don't have as much as you do, but I am prepared. My kids think I am crazy LOL. In addition, I keep a pantry with extra food supply for three months and rotate them. LOL😂😂😂
Eunice, I've been power watching your videos today and THIS BY FAR IS MY FAVORITE!!!! Not because I particularly NEED to do this in my car but because you showed your personality in this video!!! I love your side comments throughout this. Keep up the good work in your next videos 😂
Bravo 👏 !! you hit the 🎯 again👍 Multi tasking tools, locally appropriate prep; yes, we are so proud of YOU! Enjoy watching each episode to learn; gives me a moment to take a step back and compare to my own. For me a toilet kit is a must! Since kits are not easily accessible here in the states, I’ve been watching how female car campers are solving the issue. (For example, stuck in the traffic with no ending in sight due to snow storm n not able to leave the car, having toilet kits become crucial) Thanks again for showing us the must have’s!!
Thank you! That is also a reason I carry the air sickness bag. It is handy for so many things! Let me know if you find a good portable toilet for the car! I keep Looking too!😊
I live near Montreal, there is a long river that goes from basically the farthest east coast of Canada to Ontario. I keep a paper map of all the different bridges that can get me across if going through the city is not the best way
I think you were made to live in Alaska! I actually live and grew up here in Alaska and I don't have half the items you have - and I REALLY SHOULD! Love this video! Thank you so much. I do keep a several pairs of disposable exam gloves (all kinds of uses), rain jacket, warm mittens/gloves and socks always. In winter, the jump charger gets depleted quickly and probably not good for it to freeze/thaw, but we have one at home so one of us can bring it to the other one if needed.
I went to Alaska for the first time last year, and fell in love with it! I can’t wait to go back. If I live in Alaska, there be a few other things that I would keep in my car.. are used to live in New Hampshire for eight years so it’s pretty cold weather there too. I would carry a lock deicer in my purse, but I would also carry chains and ice scrapers, and some of those nonslip ice things for your shoes. Course I also used to live in Lake Tahoe and I always carried snow shoes with me.😊❤️🙏
🌸 Great advice ! Now I want to go camping with everything in your Jeep. Lol Wish I had all these things when we were flooded out of our home in 2019 :/ Another great video !
I’m planning a solo road trip. I purchased the round tissue boxes that fit in my door or cup holder. I’m going to purchase a few of those gel pepper sprays. I keep emergency cash ($50) in my phone case behind the phone.
Thank you so much for sharing that! I used to use the round tissue holders, but I found I needed a cup holders more and that I could put the tissues in that holder on the visor. I use to put money in my phone case but now that it’s see-through, I don’t put it in there.🤣 ❤️
If you're going on a trip, carry more cash than $50. Cause you may need it for a hotel food or a fix of flat tire or stuff like that, you don't need more than $50. That way, you don't have to use your credit card.
Yes! I use that on a daily basis! And even when I don’t pull it down a little bit that hangs out at the bottom, sometimes provides just the right amount of sun protection! Totally worth it buy!😊❤️
Another great video! I keep a backpack in my car with overnight camping stuff, clothes, water and tools. I switch it every 6 months to refresh the water and snacks. I also make sure the clothing is weather appropriate for the upcoming season. I'd love to see a video on how you got into preparedness. 😊👍
Thank you so much Andrea! So great that you are prepared and check out everything every six months! I think my preparedness comes from living in so many different places, and some of them remote. Plus, I was a volunteer ranger for the US forest service and we’re always try to be prepared.😊
Ohh my gosh. I don't the same thing. Not as extreme as you, with all that you have but I like to be somewhat prepared. You have many great ideas I can add. And items I didn't think of putting in my rig. Thank you for sharing.
You are so very welcome and I’m glad you are getting yourself prepared! We never want to be able to rely on these things that when my family was evacuated two years ago, I was so happy that I had some things in my car to make us more comfortable. 🙏😊
One more comment, then I'll shut up! While I generally prefer to make up my own first aid kits, I did notice a very good premade one in Walmart's camping section. I think it was called Explorer or Happy Explorer or something similar? It's in a plastic case with a handle, so more for keeping in a car than carrying around in a backpack. I was really impressed with both the range of stuff (including common medications) and how well it was organized. It might be worth taking a look at.
I hate Walmart but I have to say that I have a small backpack that I paid $20 for. I keep it in my car and use it frequently when I get to the hotel room after a plane ride. I don't want to have to open or dig into my main luggage. It stays packed with everything I need for a one night stay and is still like brand new!
@@sunnyscott4876 first of all that’s a great idea! If you’re only staying one night and have to go somewhere else to pack a small backpack with those things. I have a really tiny waterproof backpack that I bring with me almost every trip and I think that might work well for something like this! Thank you so much for sharing that with us!🙏💕
Hi Eunice, thank you for the great vids :) just wanted to add that you may want to keep a portable air compressor for your tires! Although maybe the fix a flat is the same purpose.
Perhaps an emf bag would be good for that garage opener? Another thing to consider is to drill a hole in each side of the doors through the door into the jamb, big enough to put a trimmed down old school steel tent stake in. Why? If the thieves do grab your code via a scanner, your door won't open because of the tent stakes. Even one works well and especially when you leave town for a trip. The usb car jump battery is what I find I use most often. I'm known for helping people on the road. I carry cheap headlights and flash lights from wallyword to give to people on the road if they are broken down at night. Easy way to be nice. I have safety rules though. No stopping at night unless it's a girl, it happens I live in a uni town. I do carry tools for basic repairs, I can talk them through it, but don't work on other peoples cars. I keep a flashing hockey puck in my truck, very bright and adjustable settings. I also have a set of road flashers that look like flashlights, but with the adjustable settings and stands are VERY good for road break down lights. With magnets on them you can stick them on the vehicle or more vis. Goes well with my hi vis vest I always keep for night time break downs. I'm just not a fan of combustible flares. LOVE your vids!
@@NothingToNoOneInParticular those are some awesome ideas and I’m also so glad that you help people out when they are in need. It’s unfortunate that we have to be cautious against helping men these days but as a woman I get where you’re coming from.! Love the idea of the tent stakes in the support beam to help prevent thieves from opening your garage doors when you’re away!! my garage doors have special locks like that on them that prevent them from being opened when I’m away, but I know the older garage doors do not have that. Thank you so much for sharing your great gadgets and idea ideas with us.😊💕 I enjoy making these videos and I truly enjoy getting feedback from viewers like you that also help all of us🙏
I am Colorado and Arizona which is hot in the summer and the main thing is to carry water with me but I don’t keep it in the car unless I have a cooler when I travel, also Whole Foods has some free ice that you could get for your car coller. Also I never never let my gas get below half of a tank so in case I get stuck in the traffic
@@TheoryofSimple in Arizona is in front of the check out right after you check out because it gets so hot 🥵 out here and it’s free not sure if every state has it. We get up to 120 in Arizona so we have to carry water with us in the summer and can’t leave it in the car.
I lock my garage door opener in the glove box. It's not a daily use item for me, just occasional. Our garage is detached from the house so they at least couldn't get into the house with it. My car has all kinds of equipment as I'm an EMT/Firefighter/SAR mantracker. I could live out of my car indefinitely if needed. It's smart to be prepared especially for us women who travel alone. Along with these items I keep a small compressor in the back and tire chains for winter.
Yes, as a woman, traveling alone, we need to be ultra prepared! I have camped out of my car for days, but I had to take the camper apart to use for passengers, and I’m probably gonna rebuild it as a single person No build car camper. I do want to get a compressor for my car. Someone had mentioned that there was a jumper battery that had one on it but if you have a compressor you recommend I’d love to know the link.🙏😊
Lol! Well, I truly appreciate that you watch my videos you’re getting some great hacks from them and also some great products, and I would look at it. This way is especially with these emergency and preparation videos is that it’s money well spent because when you’re in a pinch and in an emergency, you will not be thinking about the cost of something, but rather the fact that you have something that will help you.🙏😊💕
It has been such a crazy winter! We actually had to use a credit card to scrape off my windshield one morning going to the airport! I have never had to do that before😯
I have several items for winter survival in my car. One thing I have is a plastic toga that I can throw over me in case I need to change my clothes. A woman invented it. Wish she had back in my 20's when I used to scuba dive...LoL. Anyway it is available if I had to car camp or if my clothes get dirty( such as vomit or stuck in bad weather) and need to change clothes.
Lol! My family calls me, inspector gadget, and some people on here. Call me, Mary Poppins.! All I can say, is any money I make on this channel goes toward buying more gadgets🤣😂
Those are some great ideas! I better get to work prepping my Suburban. I usually have snacks, water, jackets, blankets, and a couple of current DVDs for the kids. In addition to that basic stuff , I have a roll of paper towels, a fire extinguisher, and a snake venom extractor kit 🤣 what can I say…. I live in Alabama 🤣🤣 Oh also a wine opener… that has saved many people, many times.
I watched your vid on cross body bags and plan to order one today on Amazon. I'll suggest it to a friend whose purse was stolen while visiting Egypt, last summer. The go to Peru this summer. Cynthia 🌷
Oh, just a wee comment about water: should you be in your vehicle for longer than anticipated and run out of water, it can be handy to have backups in there all the time. The smallest size plano plastic ammo cans will accommodate a whole bunch of those emergency packets of water, all standing on end. I keep one on the floor all the time, along with a similar small plastic box filled with lifeboat rations, just in case.
I don’t carry water in my car in the winter here in Alaska as they will tend to freeze if left in the car. We park in our garages, but I worry about the water freezing if I am out all day. Does anyone have ideas on this? How do you store water in your vehicle in winter in temperatures below freezing?
@@akliana I live in Canada, so things also freeze if left in a car here in winter (that's why I don't leave glass bottles in the car - they work for Eunice where she lives, but not in Ontario!) The ones I store are the small 4 ounce mylar packets from the same companies that make the lifeboat rations (Datrex and Mainstay). Yes, they can freeze, although the mylar seems to offer some protection. But they are so skinny that they thaw very quickly. I place them in my armpit (with my winter coat on, so they don't cool my body temperature, I can't feel them through the down!) and it only takes a few minutes for them to thaw out.
I recently came across your videos and have been enjoying them! Question for you regarding pepper gel. I think it’s a great idea to keep that handy in your car for safety. Though, I wondered have you had any concerns or issues with the summer heat (i.e. leaks or explosion due to pressure)?
First of all, thank you for finding my channel and watching the videos and giving me great feedback. Secondly, Great question! I have not so far had any issues with keeping it in my car. That being said, I don’t live in Arizona or somewhere that really has extreme temperatures. I know that they have to do certain readings with these types of cans for heat and cold so they probably have some thing on the website somewhere that tells about it.😊
Oh my your my kind of gal, I have many things you have including the mesh screen I also have strong magnets to keep it down tighter. I have a disposable toilet from daiso it is just a bag that gelifies the liquid. I have large trash bag in case you never know if you gotta have watery number 2. There has been many long traffic in Hawaii and you never know. I also carry doggy pee pad again you never know. I have used water bottles with water but not for drinking for washing hand or washing whatever you need to wash. Also I always bring new bottle of water for drinking. I don’t have tools, but if I lived in a large state like you I probably would. Here in Hawaii we can go around the island in a day so no need for tools I also have AAA. I do however have a battery charger and an extra phone, Tmobile plan I have allows for very cheap phone lines so I have in my glove compartment. I also take that extra phone while traveling. In the glove compartment I keep extra charger and extra phone, also have my garage opener in there, cause just like you, dont want to draw attention. I have umbrella and doggie stroller in the back. I don’t have extra hundred to keep in car, but I have around ten dollars of bills and coins in my daiso small container with car wash coupons for those drive through restaurants like McDonald’s. I have reading glasses and sunglasses and other glasses in the console. Also I have jacket and sweater which I keep over my seat. But you gave me a good idea I should keep a poncho the cheap kind from Walmart, I better put one in my car. I also have extra slippers crocs that I keep, because several times my shoes have broken, so if my shoes break I can put on extra slipper from trunk. If I lived on the mainland then it would be sneakers, here Hawaii we can do slippers. Again it’s a small island so water is all I would need, cause I do have AAA, but there was a time that traffic was so backlogged people were stuck like over 12 hrs, someone hit the overpass that was a nightmare. So I often wondered about people who had kids, elderly or even sick people what they could do if they needed to drink, eat especially diabetics or children. When I have the grandkids I always have goodies in the car, just me usually only water, so your ideas are very good in fact excellent. Especially for a large state like California. Thank you for this very informative, interesting entertaining video. Thumbs up
Toilet paper is a great one to have. I always have baby wipes with me in my purse. The water bottle that I show here, unfortunately is no longer available. I have seen uninsulated stainless steel water bottles but not with a filter.
We've been looking for three or four years and he was absolutely was the guy to go to cuz we have me and my wife and took two grandchildren 2 and 4 years old and he was the only the one that ever mentioned about 3 point seat belts because three or four years ago. None of these class B RVs had 3 point seat belts for the kids, Just lap belts. There was never nowhere for the grandchildren. Now my finally almost all class b RVs have 3. belts and the little two seats behind the driver are so perfect We're actually in about 7 to 10 days picking up our brand new first time Winnebago Solis px, a limited spit orange as bright as it can be orange and they're just offering like two per dealer. So we're very excited and we'll take a spring break trip here. We live in Galveston, Texas and we will be going to around Kerrville Texas on the other side of San Antonio to like a Jellystone park for a stuff for the kids so we're very excited
@@ronaldcreighton3289 that sounds like such an amazing trip and white wonderful memories you will be making for you and your grandchildren! I hope you have a wonderful and safe trip and looking forward to seeing you on Neil’s channel as well as mine more often! 😊
Well, that video really was pretty much everything that is in my car except when I’m camping! I do bring other things when I’m car camping or going camping in a tent. 😊❤️
We have a number of similar items in our individual VEDC. I think really great content would be to demonstrate each item. Many of the multi-use or multitool products made in China may fail when used. As an avid backpacker since childhood, I know to ALWAYS test out/set up any new piece of gear BEFORE taking it out on trail. Thank you for the content.
Thanks so much for your feedback! I think I would have to break this video down until some smaller segments to do demonstration because it was already long enough as it was! I might do that in the future, but I agree, and I do test out everything before I make a recommendation! ❤️😊🙏
@@TheoryofSimple Definitely in parts. Demo one or two items that are in your VEDC as part one and continue one or more items as subsequent parts two, three, etc. It could go on a single playlist: Vehicle EDC along with this video. Then people could check out as much or as little of the playlist. 🌿
Ahh zip ties! How did I forget those?🤪 I did have a notebook in my center consul. Actually it was a Post-it note pad. I carry pain reliever in my purse so I don’t have much of it in my car plus one time I left a bottle of it in there and the gel caps all stuck together and I couldn’t get them apart.. thank you so much for your suggestions and feedback😊🙏
Hello Eunice! I'm a new viewer to your channel, I've watched a few of your videos in the past few days and after this one... I sub'd! I love the bigger shovel you showed us, I have something similar, but a little smaller, yours looks more hefty, which I think is an advantage. Thank you so much for providing links on the items you use, unfortunately the shovel is no longer available. I guess I'll be going online to see if I can find a different place to get it or something similar. I appreciate you doing these videos they are very helpful! Have an awesome day!! Cilla
Hi Cilla! thank you for subbing and welcoming you to theory of simple! I’m so sorry that shovel pack is no longer available so I’ll have to see if I can find one similar that I can change the link to so thank you for letting me know! ❤️ truly appreciate you shopping from my channel and supporting me. It means so much.🙏❤️😊
Go on UA-cam and look for the Canadian prepper. He's got a store and he has that shovel that she has that comes apart and has many things on it. It's about $200, but it's worth it.
Sadly a mudslide for you brought to us an awareness of EDC gear in the car. We have all seen premade ones and is great then not having anything, but I do love the suggestions here. For me I know it changes from season to season and of course with teens now they are responsible for putting a backpack together. Leave it the inside of the room or if the weather forcast is not looking great then downstairs, recheck, charge all electronics and have powerbanks all ready now. OMG that portable fire extinguisher I need to get one. Just for me if I travel over an hour away from home I ensure that I have jackets to just a jogging type of clothing with socks and shoes. A small little beauty kit and small treats with water. I have a Kia 2023 Soltus so it is small and I am mindful what is put in the car to a limit.
I’m exactly like you in a sense that if I’m approximately an hour away from home, I have other things with me. I always carry an EDC bag. And that just has other things in it that change with the seasons.
Yes, after the pandemic, toilet paper is something everybody should have on hand! I generally have a travel day that I bring with me, and it has cloth in it😊💕
I always go to the dollar store and get the regular square box of tissues and then throw it on the seat or on the floor in the back. I always have tissues juice that way. You get rid of the cardboard box. When it's empty, you can fill it up with something that you keep garbage in your car. Good place to put it in.
That visor extension looks great! Just ordered it through your link. I’m 5’2 and the sun always blinds me this time of year. I can never get the visors in the right position, and invariably the sun in right in the gap.
I just ordered the visor as well. Here in Alaska during the months of November thru March the sun is right at my eye level around 1 or 2 pm on a sunny day. I’m 5’1” so my eyesight is right below the visor. This will be handy. I’m ordering 1 first to see how I like it. Thanks for these tips. Alaskans always carry jumper cables as we’re always helping each other out when cars don’t start on a cold winter’s day or when we are travelling across Alaska like from Anchorage to Fairbanks where there are few gas stations between the two cities.
Most people's garages are full of stuff. They don't use anymore. And it's a good storage area that these people used the garage for me. If I had a garage. My car would be in it only my car. You can always get a shed. Put it in your backyard and put your lawn equipment in it or stuff that you don't want anymore. Get rid of it, so you don't Keep it forever and never use it.
I really enjoyed this video and saved it to go over again to find some of the items like the drop down sun visors for us vertically challenged... loved that one I have some of the neato things mentioned but there is so much to implement from this emergency gear list... Thank you so much I thank you for the thechie infor as I am lacking in that direction and love the infor on the chargers for laptos with multi uses... ] so ideas I might d for my comfort would be ...socks...I have a thing for keeping my feet comfy and warm, homemade beef jerky and dried fruits and nuts, small pad of paper/pen, old school address book with phone numbers incase memory wiped out, and a spare key box bolted to bottom car with combination to house spare key or fob for car if you got locked out. And a small amount of daily medications in a pill box if you are stuck away from home for a few days...
Thank you!! Great ideas! I keep socks in my extra shoes and meds in my purse. I have sticky notes in the console as well. Happy you are prepared for anything!
I keep a personal alarm. I don't want to use spray ,it takes time, I may be affected.I want to keep my windows closed from danger. When walking you just turn it on don't need To be close to your 🕺. A handful of change thrown at someone's face. The side of a coin can be used as a tool to mark a trail. Fire Extinguisher can be spray to make a fog screen . Shake up a can of soda. Pop that baby and it makes a mess on intruder, but want hurt you.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback!🙏😊 I think a personal all alarms great if you’re going to be around people, but I have another video where I was hiking and there was no one else around for miles. So personal alarm would’ve done nothing. The pepper spray gel is good because it’s not a spray but a gel and it’s much less likely to affect you because the direction you pointed it’s where it goes. I personally carry a multi tool with me every day so I think that is a great tool to mark trails, but also to use for other daily use and highly recommend a multi tool for everyone.🙏😊
Wow! That is exactly why i like to be prepared! Good for you, Jen! I bet that lady was very thankful for you! 💕😊
Thank you so much for sharing it with us, Erin! That is a great hack to know! 😊🙏❤️
Wow! I didn't know that!
Thank you!!
All great ideas, Jen! Cd weather means extra items to keep safe in emergency times! Thank you for all your great ideas and sharing them with us! 😊
Wow, I need to get on the ball and get better prepared! Thanks to both of you for the ideas and insight ❤ for safety😅
😊
😊😊😊
😊
I like those sun visor attachments
It is so great! Use it everyday ❤️😊
I have always traveled with snacks and water plus a blanket in the back. You take it to the next level. I am going to add a few of the items you have in your Jeep. Thank you Eunice for a very helpful video.
Thank you, Patti! Happy you are trying more prepared and finding some new things to help you prepare! 😊
It’s a great trip to make sure that your batteries are fully charged and checking things out every once in a while and making sure everything works! 😊
Thank you, Cindy! Great ideas for those with pets! 🦮
I also carry a dog leash.
Thank you 💕😊 could you share the link to your jumper with air compressor? 🙏
OMG!!! You are truly THE Gadget Queen! Love all your ideas… and what I especially like is that they are gender neutral ideas that every traveler should have🤩
Thank you, Monique! So happy you are finding my videos useful! My family Cosmi, Inspector gadget! 😂🤣
I liked this video and thank you 😎👍🏻
Thank you! Air compressor is the one thing I need to get! My boyfriend has it in his car.
LOL😂😂😂
Lol! Cut from the same cloth! I think much of this stems from being a mom, we are always prepared for anything!😊
Eunice, I've been power watching your videos today and THIS BY FAR IS MY FAVORITE!!!! Not because I particularly NEED to do this in my car but because you showed your personality in this video!!! I love your side comments throughout this. Keep up the good work in your next videos 😂
Thank you so much! I try to put a little bit of me, and each video …some get more than others! 😜
My new favourite channel. Thank you.
Gosh, thank you so much! I’m so happy you are enjoying my continent and look forward to your feedback on my other videos!🙏😊
Good idea about the garage opener because that has happened around my neighborhood too .
Thank you, and Yes, unfortunately, it’s becoming all too common and every neighborhood😔
Bravo 👏 !! you hit the 🎯 again👍
Multi tasking tools, locally appropriate prep; yes, we are so proud of YOU!
Enjoy watching each episode to learn; gives me a moment to take a step back and compare to my own.
For me a toilet kit is a must! Since kits are not easily accessible here in the states, I’ve been watching how female car campers are solving the issue.
(For example, stuck in the traffic with no ending in sight due to snow storm n not able to leave the car, having toilet kits become crucial)
Thanks again for showing us the must have’s!!
Thank you! That is also a reason I carry the air sickness bag. It is handy for so many things! Let me know if you find a good portable toilet for the car! I keep
Looking too!😊
I live near Montreal, there is a long river that goes from basically the farthest east coast of Canada to Ontario. I keep a paper map of all the different bridges that can get me across if going through the city is not the best way
Yes! Always alternate routes! My brother lived in Montreal for a few years and I loved visiting him and that city🙏❤️🇨🇦
As always you have lots of neat and useful things. Thank you for all the work you put into your videos. Very helpful.
Thank you, Don! So happy appreciate the work I put into these videos!🥰 I’ll try and keep them coming!
Lol
Wish I had all these things when we were flooded out of our home in 2019 :/
Another great video !
Thank you so much! 🙏😊 better to have your car prepared and not need it then not have it prepared and need it!😀
I’m planning a solo road trip.
I want all of these things, but that sun visor extension is wow! I definitely need one of those, and what a great gift idea for everyone I know!
Yes! I use that on a daily basis! And even when I don’t pull it down a little bit that hangs out at the bottom, sometimes provides just the right amount of sun protection! Totally worth it buy!😊❤️
Very neat indeed!!
Thank you! Cheers!
@@TheoryofSimple that is so cool!!
Thank you, Jen! I’ll have to go to Walmart and take a look!😊
Although maybe the fix a flat is the same purpose.
thank you so much 💕😊I actually did add a portable air compressor to it! Better safe than sorry!💕😊
Also I never never let my gas get below half of a tank so in case I get stuck in the traffic
thank you so much for sharing that.! Where do you get the ice at Whole Foods?🙏
@@TheoryofSimple in Arizona is in front of the check out right after you check out because it gets so hot 🥵 out here and it’s free not sure if every state has it. We get up to 120 in Arizona so we have to carry water with us in the summer and can’t leave it in the car.
@@Kaykavoosi8 yikes! That is super hot! Glad they provide that for you! 🙏❤️😊
I love all the safety and security tools and strategies ❤
I’m so glad you found these hacks helpful and I hope they help you as well🙏❤️😊
Have watched some of you packing videos, but love this “Safety/camping” one! Thanks! You are costing me money.
Lol! Well, I truly appreciate that you watch my videos you’re getting some great hacks from them and also some great products, and I would look at it. This way is especially with these emergency and preparation videos is that it’s money well spent because when you’re in a pinch and in an emergency, you will not be thinking about the cost of something, but rather the fact that you have something that will help you.🙏😊💕
I Cary the Swiss army knife with me which I love. They have the card one that you can put in your wallet also
Yes! I Carry, the Victorinox nail care with me every time I fly! It’s a great little multi tool to have😊🙏❤️
I love love sesears also I am glad that I am not the only one
Im near Sacramento and I needed an ice scraper this winter around Christmas it was freezing. But I grew up on the peninsula and didn’t need one there.
It has been such a crazy winter! We actually had to use a credit card to scrape off my windshield one morning going to the airport! I have never had to do that before😯
Great advice. Love the sun visor. Great ideas. I’m going to sort through my emergency kit for my van. Thank you.
You are welcome! Hope you find some great things for your car kit! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Interesting! I have not heard of a toga to change clothes. I just usually deck change. 😊
I never knew there was another gadget addict in the world other than me. I can’t afford all the one you have. 😊
Lol! My family calls me, inspector gadget, and some people on here. Call me, Mary Poppins.! All I can say, is any money I make on this channel goes toward buying more gadgets🤣😂
Great thx!!
You’re very welcome and thank you for watching and commenting😊💕
Those are some great ideas! I better get to work prepping my Suburban. I usually have snacks, water, jackets, blankets, and a couple of current DVDs for the kids. In addition to that basic stuff , I have a roll of paper towels, a fire extinguisher, and a snake venom extractor kit 🤣 what can I say…. I live in Alabama 🤣🤣 Oh also a wine opener… that has saved many people, many times.
I knew I was forgetting something! The wine opener😊❤️🍷
I watched your vid on cross body bags and plan to order one today on Amazon. I'll suggest it to a friend whose purse was stolen while visiting Egypt, last summer. The go to Peru this summer.
Cynthia 🌷
Thank you, Cynthia! 😊🙏❤️
love the duct tape on the sharpie. I'm doing it right now!
Yay! A little duct tape can make a big difference! 😊
Wow! That is ultra prepared! Thanks for the tip on the water and food!😊
Thank you for all the tips you shared; I have two pages of notes and need to get to work on getting my truck prepared!
@@harrietts this is why I love this community is because everybody is so willing to share what is been working for them! ❤️
These are all terrific ideas, love your channel, thank you!! 🙏💯👍
Thank you so much! So happy you got some great ideas from my video🙏❤️😊
I know that they have to do certain readings with these types of cans for heat and cold so they probably have some thing on the website somewhere that tells about it.😊
@@TheoryofSimple makes sense. Good suggestion, thanks. I’ll plan to look into it and hopefully find out through research rather than a mishap 😉😁
@@samcisney7890 yes! Better safe than sorry!🙏
So much great information fyi if you have used your Sawyer you need to keep it from freezing in cold weather
@@erismom69 great tip! Hopefully it’s dry and you don’t have to worry about it cracking!
Oh my your my kind of gal, I have many things you have including the mesh screen I also have strong magnets to keep it down tighter.
I have a disposable toilet from daiso it is just a bag that gelifies the liquid. I have large trash bag in case you never know if you gotta have
watery number 2.
Thumbs up
Wow! Thank you! You are really prepared well and have given us some really great ideas! Thank you for sharing all you ideas with us! 😊
I have a roll of toliet paper and baby wipes. The metal container for water is a good idea. I was trying to figure out a way around glass bottles.
Toilet paper is a great one to have. I always have baby wipes with me in my purse. The water bottle that I show here, unfortunately is no longer available. I have seen uninsulated stainless steel water bottles but not with a filter.
Hello, you brother said to check you out some following your channel. He's the best. We're all glad he's back
Thank you for checking my channel! I’m happy he’s back as well! 🥰
Now my finally almost all class b RVs have 3. belts and the little two seats behind the driver are so perfect
We're actually in about 7 to 10 days picking up our brand new first time Winnebago Solis px, a limited spit orange as bright as it can be orange and they're just offering like two per dealer.
You are prepared. Thank you for sharing. Can you do a what's in my car?
Well, that video really was pretty much everything that is in my car except when I’m camping! I do bring other things when I’m car camping or going camping in a tent. 😊❤️
Your videos are so super helpful 👍🏼 Thanks for helping us out with all your great tips and ideas.
Thank you, Noemi!😊
You really know how to make videos that are SO useful and informative! Great items!!
Thank you, Marjie! 😊
Girl where is your silcock key?!?!! Use it to open water spigots on the outside of commercial and industrial buildings. Great video!
I do have a Silcock key! It’s in my go bag, which was another video. I did a while back.😊❤️🙏
The shovel ... unscrew the fero rod and I bet there is a Whistle on the other end.
I will check that out! Thanks💕😊
@@Swimdeep yep! Once I get David stabilized , I will get to it!😊
Great video. Can’t think of much except zip ties, scotch tale, a notebook and Tylenol.
Tooth brush and tooth paste in your to go bag
Great video, lots of ideas of things to be prepared.
Toilet paper or pee cloth may be good too.
Yes, after the pandemic, toilet paper is something everybody should have on hand! I generally have a travel day that I bring with me, and it has cloth in it😊💕
A flare if you need help on the road. Also an empty new gasoline container, for you or someone else.
Yes! Great additions! I have just ordered both! Thank you for sharing this with us❤️🙏
So many wonderful tips. Where did you get the crate?
Thank you so much Deirdre! Here is the link to the collapsible crate! amzn.to/40JNQhm
Hand sanitizer is one thing that I always carry
That’s a great one, and I usually have a little spray bottle of it or at least some wipes that are antibacterial😊🙏❤️
Lysol and TP
Yep! And baby wipes 😊
Interesting to see how you pack your car 👍👍
Thank you!
I would spray a bit of WD40 onto those screw-together parts.... the squeek tells that they haven't ever been used.
thank you for the feedback. I’m very lucky that I haven’t had to use them but it’s always good to have them in case you need them ! 😊
Thank you for sharing all your great ideas!!!
You are so welcome! 😊
Ohh lady we're alot alike. I carry a lot with me too. But I'm getting new ideas now. You seem to be more extreme than me tho. Lol
They cal me inspector gadget or mary poppins🤣😂
Love these! So helpful.
Thank you!😊
I really want you to do an emergency kit go bag for your dog 🐕
Ok! You got it! 🦮🐾🦴
@@TheoryofSimple yay! Can’t wait!
And a fire escape plan including a dog! :)

Hi Eunice, regarding the tissue holder, does it fit regular tissues or do you purchase refills from Amazon?
I just pulled tissues out of a regular box and put them in there. It’s just cheaper than buying the refills from Amazon.😊🙏❤️
I always go to the dollar store and get the regular square box of tissues and then throw it on the seat or on the floor in the back. I always have tissues juice that way. You get rid of the cardboard box. When it's empty, you can fill it up with something that you keep garbage in your car. Good place to put it in.
I love ur car 😍..
Thank you! 😊
Oh no...I cracked up for five minutes. You had to use your jeep as a car.!!!
Lol! 😂🤣 making back into a camper soon!🙏
UTRINQUE PARATUS IN EXCELSIS!!!
Thank you! 😊
That visor extension looks great! Just ordered it through your link. I’m 5’2 and the sun always blinds me this time of year. I can never get the visors in the right position, and invariably the sun in right in the gap.
Thank you! I love that visor extension! 😊
@@akliana thank you! I got this visor helps you! I Love Alaska. Got to go there last summer and fell in love!
Do you have her link where I can order it sun Visor.
Where do you get that sunblocker at? I've been looking for things like that and there's not around anymore.
@@juneallen4926 everything should be linked in the video description😊
I am confused: why do people park outside, if they own a garage?
Small 1950’s garage that will not fit a truck and garage is used as a workshop😊
Most people's garages are full of stuff. They don't use anymore. And it's a good storage area that these people used the garage for me. If I had a garage. My car would be in it only my car. You can always get a shed. Put it in your backyard and put your lawn equipment in it or stuff that you don't want anymore. Get rid of it, so you don't Keep it forever and never use it.
Somehow I thought you were going to have a portable canoe.
Lol! I have researched into getting an origami kayak! Just not in the budget at this time! 🤪
I feel unprepared right now….
The good news is you have time to make some changes now and it may not be perfect but it’ll be better than it was🙏❤️😊
Tent
Yes! Or a footprint/tarp at least! I have a 2 man backpacking tent that I may throw in the back! Thank you for suggesting 😊
Actually the paper spray on your key chain is not good for your car starter. Your key set is to heavy
Haven’t had a problem yet and it’s a 2010 car. 🤷♀️
Ummm. I think a few people now know you keep 100.00 cash and where your garage door opener is. Just sayin🤷♀️
Yep and that’s why you move things to different places in your car all the time just to keep them guessing😉
