enjoy the medical laboratory science videos. I am currently in the process of getting into the program in my town. It would be nice to see a "day in the life..." video. thanks for the great content! 😊🤓👍🏾
Thank you Char Miss! I’m glad you enjoy my videos 😊 I wish you the best of luck in your program. That’s an awesome video idea! I have to start filming some clips and get that video together! Thank you so much for supporting me and my videos ♥️
I’m a high school senior and I think that I want to pursue a career in lab tech. Your points really helped me reassure myself that I am making the right choice. Thank you!
Thanks for making videos about the field of Medical/Clinical Lab Science! I just started as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist right at the start of this crazy year 😅 This profession is greatly in-demand, and I highly recommend it to those who agree with all the points you mentioned in this video!
Thank you for your video! I'm majoring in BS in Medical Technology Science. Do you have to pass any tests to be eligible for clinical rotation? I'm so worry about all the Chem classes, Do you need to get all A or just C and up is good for graduation?
You’re welcome Mie! You have to pass all your classes before you can do clinical rotations with at least a C. Of course it’s better to get higher grades but at least a C but it can depend on your program requirements :)
Does it get easier when it comes to drawing blood? Blood isn’t necessarily what’s grossing me out it’s just being able to do the venipuncture correctly and not hurting the patient. Going to be starting my CLS program this fall and starting off with learning finger pricks and venipunctures for blood samples.
Yes it definitely does take a lot of time and practice to get more comfortable with your own blood. It didn’t take me too long but there was times when I had hard sticks and I would have to ask another person for help. Best of luck in your program and they should be able to give you some practice there as well. During my program we had the option to draw blood from a classmate and I did and it was fine :)
Hi there! I did 4 years of undergraduate schooling and my major was Medical Laboratory Science. I did not have to get a masters degree after I completed my 4 year degree.
Rosa Perez oh okay thank you! I’m currently a health science major and want to change my major to clinical science. Your videos have helped a lot and I think I am going to change it! :)
You’re welcome Cecilia I’m glad I’ve been able to help and that’s awesome double check with your school to see if they offer that program and I wish you the best of luck! 🥰
What state are you in? There are PLENTY of jobs. Pay is slightly lower than nursing but you don't have patient interaction. My goal is to make a video about MLS vs. Nursing!!
In Michigan my Pay scale was $25 an hour up to $38 an hour.... In California my payscale is $45 and hour up to $60 an hour. 97% of the states pay like Michigan or Worse. If you want to make real money go to California.
@@CJN4737 That is because California's COL is astronomical. A huge chunk of your check will be going to housing, even with roommates or a spouse. You will likely not find a home unless you become something like CRNA or marry a doctor/engineer. Also you will be taxed A SHIT TON. A person who makes 100k a year will be taxed 30% leaving them all the way down to $63k net pay. In other words, $45 an hour is only "okay" in CA and you won't be making more money.
Hey Rosa, Im currently Researching the MLS Career on whether it may be a potential career path I pursue so thank you for the Videos. One question I have is, What fundamental academic skills does one need to have or would need to acquire in order to be successful in a MLS Program?
Hi Jonathan, thanks for reaching out! I say just a good understanding or interest in science. If you are not interested it will be hard. To be successful in the program it is important to ask questions, follow directions, and the most important to become certified is to STUDYYY!!!
I have an inquiry ! I have a bachelor degree in chemistry sciences, and have experience around 10 years in Iraqi ministry of health. My question is - Can i work in the USA ? How? Thanks a lot
Hi Rosa! I am taking Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and I just finish my semester 3. How do you get rid of feeling afraid of not able to work / done task well in the lab when you just started working/practical in the lab?
It’s a matter of having a positive mindset. Remember that everyone was in your place at one point. You will make mistakes and it’s a matter of learning from them and not making the same ones next time. Take lots of notes and ask plenty of questions as well.
How do you learn to overcome fears before work? I get nervous going into work that I’ll get an emergency case that is very stressful! I don’t want to dread going into work.
Try not to overthink situations. Sure sometimes things are stressful but they will not always be that way. Use some techniques to help you relax and try not to worry about the worst case scenarios. Best of luck.
Hi Rosa! If you wanted could you get your masters in the same degree? Could that open more manager type positions for you? Like supervisor? Or manager?
Hello beautiful, thank you for your amazing information. I’m majoring in ClS or MLS as well and I’m done with my college and transferring next semester. So I’m trying to find a job in this field to get some experience, but I can’t nobody wanna give me a job without degree even though I have taking bio, Chem, calculus, and physics classes. Can you please give any tips how to find a jobs?
@@RosaPerez it would depend on qualification. I know some Indian qualifications aren't accepted in other countries, so you may need to consider looking into educational requirements and just reach out to the place you want to apply and see if they will accept you etc.

We also did fingersticks as well and I had a partner who actually stuck me near my nail bed and that was such a terrible experience It hurt so bad :(
It does get alot easier over time
Can clinical lab scientists get patient care/exposure in certain jobs setting?
In some smaller labs there’s a chance you may have to draw blood which gives you patient care experience :)
Would you recommend to do a MLT to MLS bridge program?
Yes, im not sure exactly how they work but it will allow you to become an MLS
Did you take 4 years of biology in undergraduate school and spent 4 years to become clinical laboratory scientists in graduate school ?
Hi there! I did 4 years of undergraduate schooling and my major was Medical Laboratory Science. I did not have to get a masters degree after I completed my 4 year degree.
Rosa Perez hi is medical laboratory science major the same as a clinical science major.
Hi Cecilia, yes they are both the same major. They are just giving different names depending on the school.

Is bachelors ib biomedical science allow me to be a medical laboratory scientist?
It is possible. Check with jobs you are considering to see if they only need a bachelors
In This field which specialization is best Microbiology , Hematology , immunology biochemistry ? Please reply 🙏🏻

I would check specific job listings in the area you are interested in working in.

Yes exactly! Great advice :)
are you interested in any specialty?
Hi there! Not anything very specifically but I do really like blood bank and chemistry 😊 If I had to pick one I would say blood bank is my favorite!
Hi. Please help. Do I need to be really reaaaally good in math? I'm excellent in biology though, can that cover up?
Hi! No you just need to know basic math and you learn it on the job as well
Biology won’t really help too much in the pharmacy
@@RosaPerez thank you, thank you so much ❤️
You’re welcome!
How do you do well in all the science courses. I am good at all the sciences except chemistry.
Time, effort and the most important is asking for help when you really need it
I’m the same was I was not good or motivated while taking my chemistry classes.
I found friends to study with and asked the TA for help
As lab technician. Do I need to draw blood .???
You may have to. It depends where you work.
@@RosaPerez what about a lab scientist? Do they draw blood too?
Hi can I get an associates degree for lab tech with a Ged?? I also completed an associates in nutritional dietetics
I am not too sure how the process with a GED works. I would have to do more research.
In 11 I choose management can I do mls ??
Is it general management?
