Hey just saw this and the issues you were having with your quick strike rigs breaking. Clayton Schick has actually discussed the need for wire leaders as opposed to fluoro for pike. Their teeth can bite through the Fluoro and strip it down its length. Heavier Fluoro is just as easy as its bigger diameter makes it more susceptible to pike getting their teeth through it. I suspect this may be the issue you were having with your 100 lb test mono. Maybe, just something to look at. I use Fluoro leaders for lake trout and on the quick strike rigs for lake trout but would switch to wire if I knew I’d be encountering pike mainly.

Mono sucks as leader material. Flouro is better. Wire is best.
