Agree 100% on prioritizing choices. We finished building for the third time in our marriage last summer. We balanced the cost of an upgrade vs how much we truly wanted the upgrade.
I'm so impressed with how your channel keeps evolving and improving. I don't know who is editing your videos, but it's excellent. I honestly feel your channel is on par or better than HGTV.
Such a great video with lots of information. You guys really should do a coffee table book of all the homes you tour. Yes definitely prioritize where you spend your money.
I very much agree with having a plan but letting the project evolve. We are building our house and acting as our own General as well as doing a good portion of the work ourselves. Doing the work ourselves makes it a very slow process but it also means that I have the time to adjust the design. We realized that a bedroom closet that looked okay on paper ended up being too deep and we were able to block it off, add a different door and make a smaller more useable closet in the hallway. Also a last minute range color choice changed the whole kitchen cabinet color scheme. I love both of those changes in the end.
