Hi Melissa. How was your Easter? I know you guys are still shook up over the fire, but you will be okay. Just take extra precautions before going to sleep at night. Keep a big fire break around your property, & keep the tall trees cropped, that are closer to your chickens. Fires are a very common thing, here in California. I've talked to a lot of people who have been affected by the huge fires, & those are the tips they have given. Love you guys. ;)

You guys may have already thought of something like this, but I looked into outdoor home fire alarm systems & there seems to be quite a few options available. I wouldn't be able to sleep either, but an alarm would make me feel a lot better! God bless you & your family! :)

It's never easy having to wake up to that. I went thru a fire years ago when my kids were small. We were living with my in-laws and there Home caught on fire, destroyed everything. It wasn't easy for a long while. You two will be okay. Give it some time, do what you can to protect yourself and it will fade. Stay safe! Thoughts and prayers are with you. Great first video!

hi Melissa i got a question, did your cat show any signs she was having her kittens? my dog is pregnant am not sure whens she is having her puppies? please and thank you :-D
Make sure she has a large bed to have the babies in and that she knows what it is for. When it gets close...like the last day, she'll start nesting-scratching at her bedding, getting it ready, in her mind, for the babies. If you have a thermometer you can use, take her temp. A temp below 100 degrees means she will deliver within 24 hours. She may pace, whimper and even vomit. This is normal.

And now with Melissa Mondays, I feel I can relate to you for who you are. That's so cool that your mom became a RN :) My daughter, sister, and nieces are all RNs. It seems to run in the family, lol. I also wanted to say that I think it's a great idea to film on Sunday and upload on Mondays. Not only for the benefit of getting the video out on Monday, but also on the weekend it gives a chance to catch up with family, friends, and just have the time to interact with more people. I hope that makes sense . I do know how scary a fire can be that close to you. When I was nine or ten years old, my mom woke us up in the middle of the night to get us all out of the house. A fire had started in a house just behind ours. When I looked out the bedroom window, all I could see was orange, glaring sky. I don't think you ever get the memory or that awful smell completely gone. Luckily, like you guys, a neighbor had noticed the fire and banged on the family's door and got them awake and all out of the house. The whole neighborhood was standing in the street while the Fire Department was putting the fire out. I'm sorry for writing an entire book, lol. Be safe, and I love all you guys and gals :)
I am so sorry about the fires Melissa but like Omar said, you now have the sand trail between the woods & your house so that should keep your house safe from fires. You get some sleep, you all are being watched over from above. I'll be praying for some rain here in Florida. We sure do need it.
Melissa! PLEASE get that mamma kitty spayed and make sure that whoever you give those kittens to can afford to and will get the babies fixed when they are old enough. There are so many cats and kittens being put down in shelters and suffering slow deaths as they try to survive on their own. I see you love your pets but many people are very irresponsible with pets, especially cats.

Melissa, after being through 2 house fires, I fully understand how you are feeling. Every time I smell smoke and freak out. It's been 4 years later from our last house fire. I still freak out. It drives my kids nuts. We live in California and our house backs up to a levee. It never fail around the summer time it catches on fire. I'm just glad California is not so dry right now. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

in all fires there are hot spots that can light back up more so in wild fires they have a good chance for up to a week after its been put out

Melissa, after being through 2 house fires, I fully understand how you are feeling. Every time I smell smoke and freak out. It's been 4 years later from our last house fire. I still freak out. It drives my kids nuts. We live in California and our house backs up to a levee. It never fail around the summer time it catches on fire. I'm just glad California is not so dry right now. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
Great job melissa! Thank you for showing us the kitties and all the other animals keep that coming. It would definitely be difficult relaxing after something like that happened and especially because there is still some smoldering with that tree yesterday morning.take care!
Soooo glad you guys are all ok. I had my house burn down before, I know the fear. maybe it's a good idea to sleep in shifts for awhile, so someone can watch it throughout the nightime hours. continued prayers for you all.

Glad to see all the kids having fun Easter Egg hunting. My family's last one was last year, since the age range was 14-22 for the nine grandchildren. Growing up stinks, but the tradition will go on. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers. :)
Happy Easter to you and your family! Thank God you all are okay and your neighbor happened to be awake. That in it self was a blessing. Besides the great team work from your neighbor,James (Hopefully he got a new phone!),your husband Omar and the local fire department. We lost our childhood home due to an electrical fire and it gets easier with time. Life is a blessing to not be taken for granted. Wow, Patty can COOK!! That ham looks delicious. The kittens are so adorable. You sound so confident. I get the worst stage fright, as you could probably tell by my videos from Don Jose' yesterday. I was nervous as all get-out. lol. Forgetting names, channels, & even the rides I already knew, at Knott's, where I live. lol.
