Takahashi didn't cut World of Memories short due to waning popularity, he was hospitalised while writing it and a bag that contained story notes was stolen from him by a mugger. He regretted not getting to flesh it out more, particularly concerning Seto's connection to Blue-Eyes. He just had to make due to meet his deadline. Also the anime cuts out a lot of important context.
Oh he did that too didn’t know he did out side of super interesting
5ds was peak, i dont care what anyone ever says, 5ds is peak "OH ITS JUST MOTORBIKES NENENENNENEEENEENE" BUDDY BOY, "DELTA ACCEL SYNCHRO" WAS THE LITTERAL COOLEST THING I HAD EVER SEEN(until i watched naruto)

Putting Yubel in the same tier as Dungeon Dice Monsters and Duel Monster Quest?
Personally, I think Zexal should be quartered for Number Hunter Arc, WDC Arc, Mythian Number Arc & Barian Invasion Arc since Zexal & Zexal II are technically two different entries, but yes:
Zexal is very underrated
no its not literally everyone likes zexal
Still he gave both ZEXAL I & II S-Tier which is awesome
ZEXAL is peak
@@alsome3325 most people who have seen the whole thing subbed (and a lot of the time dubbed too) absolutely love it
The problem is that ZEXAL has been shit on for over a decade by people who haven’t seen the show so much that some don’t even bother watching it because of preconceived notions about the show
@@fxzzy__ I have seen both Seasons of Zexal in sub. I still think the series is pretty mid. The barian arc was pretty good but most of the stuff that happened before was pretty boring and nothing very special even for yugioh standards. Also still can't stand Yuma to this day, even though he got better with time.
I instantly like cuz it's one of first yugioh series I watched when I was a kid and even rewatching it I still like it
Once again, I love the journey from "Zexal is dumb and annoying" to "ZEXAL IS SO GOOD YOU GUYS OH MY GOD!!!"
And considering how often I see that happen, I'm just gonna call it.
There are two types of Yugioh fans.
Those who love Zexal.
And those who haven't watched it.
It's some of the most childishly written characters I have ever seen, where you can predict what is going to happen and what they are going to say from a mile away and that doesn't mention how derivative it is of previous yugioh anime before it. It was eye-rolling cringe in so many parts. The only reason why I am even saying anything is the supposition that people only don't like it because they haven't seen it. I have from start to finish, and while there were characters I liked, it was not nearly as good as this guy made it out to be. It was like DM specifically remade but worse.
I must say tho, if anyone is planning to watch it, PLEASE watch it in Japanese, the western version that came to us changed too many things, from dialogues to entire music scores, and that’s criminal, because Zexal has some of the best musical scores in the franchise, and characters like Vector have an awesome voice
Arc-v is actually decent as well.
Hated simply because they didn't grow up with it.
I'm the third type of fans: those who watched it and still didn't like it 🤷♂
Watched, just boring
I absolutely love this. Ranking arcs instead of series lets the series highlights truly shine and series lowpoints dont drag the whole series down with it
No matter what your evaluation is, I'm going to enjoy them because from the onset, you're giving each series the fairest chance you possibly could
Hoping my favorite arcs land in at least B-tier
CRASH TOWWWWWWWWN!
I’m glad he’s got both ZEXAL I & II in S-Tier the world is healing man. I hope it’ll get more rep with the years to come
WRGP that low was kinda crazy to me though
@fxzzy__ 5Ds is my favorite series, and GX and Vrains have a special place in my heart
But mannnnnn, Zexal II was so good, peak of the Yugioh anime in my opinion
I feel like him having such a different view of Vrains and 5Ds compared to the fanbase comes from his taste in pacing. Most of us have no problems with the tournament arcs and think Vrains was super rushed. Meanwhile, he's tired of the tournament arcs and thinks Vrains was paced super well. To each their own!
What i like from Zexal to Vrains is that the plot is set up from the start to end.
In the previous series it always felt more like something out of nowhere happens (DM suffers the least from it but GX and 5DS very much do.).
In Zexal the conflicts are established early Barians don't come out of nowhere, but the existence of the Astral and Barian Worlds is set up from the start.
Arc V has all the dimensions and the whole mystery of the Yu-boys set up well, the payoff was the problem.
In Vrains The Lost Incident is the reason everything in the series happens, season one is Yusaku trying to gain closure from it, season 2 is the Ignis taking the spotlight, and in season 3 is Ai's last stand.
The biggest problem the latter 3 Yu-Gi-Oh series have is the lack of time, all of them suffer from being to short, Vrains especially.
Zexal could have gone deeper into the Astral World and ther Chaos power equivalent, Cosmic, Chaos is, while having many definitions, is highly tied to the individual and emotions, Cosmic while we know that it exists and that it is the opposite of Chaos doesn't say much.
Arc V has been talked to death but they wanted far to much with little to no time, the whole final battle with Zarc is the best case for it, the only one they care about getting back is Yuya and a little Yuto the other two aren't even mentioned.
As for Vrains I don't need to say anything the, had only 120 episodes while it's predecessors had around 150 as a minimum.
VRAINS appreciation 😊
Every 5D's arc ranges between A and S tier to me it's the most perfect we'll written Yu-Gi-Oh!
Unexpectedly enough, the WRPG arc is S+ tier, Yusei duels with the Ragnarok team as he was mounting a comeback while all odds were impossibly against him and the OST boi the fukkin OST uggh is just goosebumps inducing.
Team Taiyo duel especially is so PEAK
Battle city is peak Yugioh . Virtual World hold a special place in my heart , loved every duel of that arc !
Why do I sense a Maze set centered around The Big 5 and Five-Headed Dragon?
BC the best arc in yugioh!
Yeah no
4:25 I agree so much when you say "I love when they branches away from the card game".
Yugioh had/have so much potential for developing new mechanics or board games. Manga and first part of the anime show it well.
Putting WRGP in F is DIABOLICAL. Team Ragnarok vs Team 5D’s was literal PEAK yugioh.
The nordic gods, the restoring of honor for Jack, the vengeance of Dragan, Crow and Brave realizing they are more similar than different, Yusei and Harald having the most twists and turns in a duel ever, not to mention Yusei dodging 10,800 DMG at the last second and using Harald’s card as HIS win con, I mean, come on.
The beginning of season 2 (after Dark Signers) is majority filler trash I won’t lie. However this lasts only about 20ish episodes and then the ACTUAL wrgp arc begins. I know you don’t wish to spoil too much but the difference between pre-WRGP and once the tourney starts is night and day. Not to mention the tourney lasted much longer than the filler before it. Yusei’s evolution vs Placido is an iconic part of the series most look back on as one of the best parts of the series.
This response is laughably long considering this show was made over a decade ago but I felt obliged to come here and defend what many feel is the peak of yugioh, clear mind. Good video overall, cheers.
The summoning chants is what makes 5Ds memorable
Team Ragnarok, the last duel of Aporia, Antinomy, and the big final : Z-one (and his top tier OST).
The beginning of the WRGP arc was average, but the ending was masterful!
Crash town tho? Awesome. WGRP needed more than yusei time

Not really i would said it have run time problem and lack of Silce of life ep that could improve Yusaku development so he can be more understand than people just trash him as unintersting character with very low personality
Vrains did almost everything wrong, it’s not good and I almost feel like the show is…soulless as well.
saying that GAMECUBE was not a popular console is WILD af
the second half of 5ds is indeed worse then the first but it isnt horible, definetly not much worse then most other yugioh arcs
Crash town and the match vs the nordics are great
1. VRAINS is definitely the best as the card game complimenting the story instead of the other way around. Its detracting factors are some core cast not getting as much shine and being unfairly undercut in episodes as just where the Ignis War arc ended, you could tell they originally had greater plans for the 3rd arc that were forced to be scrapped. Though the skill level of the VRAINS main cast is the best Yugioh has ever been, they're like at the endgame level skill of the other series from the beginning.
2. GX because it's one of the only Yugioh series to actually show growth and consequences of characters PLUS what happens after those things transpire. It's a full journey as opposed to just part of one. I think Season 3 or the dimensions arc is so good that it sets up the final arc and contrasts the beginning so well that it makes GX so unique and Jaden/Judai one of the more dynamic characters (he literally is counted as 2 characters in Duel Links due to how different he became). While most of the early seasons have that fun slice of life vibe to it, there are some complete nonsense moments (especially in the Society of Light arc). While the rest of the cast doesn't get too much spotlight in major duels, we do get a sense of growth with some of them (Syrus/Sho and Chazz/Manjoume in particular) by the time we reach the end. I also think Yubel is the best written villain in the franchise and the only one who essentially got what they wanted in the end and never having lost more than once (even then it was due to a kamikaze attack from Jesse/Johan where Jaden won by default not skill)
[3 & 4 swap depending on my mood and opinions that day honestly because they're very close.]
3. Zexal, but I don't agree with the breakdown of arcs as Number Hunting shouldn't be combined with the tournament because the pre-tournament stuff does not relate to the overall story within the tournament plus those duels aren't tournament duels with the same stakes; and the search for the Mythian Numbers should not be counted with the Barian Onslaught as the goals, motivations, and players involved change drastically between them. I think Yuma, Shark, and Kite/Kaito are great characters with very compelling arcs (and kinda Astral the times they let him be his own character, which they got better at as the story went on). However, the rest of the cast is just set dressing with very little follow-through or just cast aside once they've served their use with a good number of them not being very entertaining. There also didn't feel like there was much consistency with the Barians after they got introduced, and maybe there were plans that got changed part of the way through. Vector and Mizael are the only 2 that felt locked in, the others kinda changed with whatever was convenient for plot, and the reveal of that last 2 felt like it retconned a bit of what we learned about them already from season 1 and even the arc before it (seriously, the leader of the 7 has some wonky hostory and what we learned about Barians would contradict what we saw in Season 1, or bare minimum it should've happened differently or been foreshadowed for that Barian reveal). Also, those 1st few episodes are kinda trying your best to get through it to get to the good part, which does repeat in season 2.
4. 5Ds is a good show, but mostly for the first half with only highlights in the second half of the show. I'm also biased against Yusei a little because he's so many of the fandom's "perfect child" and that they couldn't just let him have that legitimate loss against Kalin/Kiryu. I also feel like the elitist and classicism themes disappeared very quickly, which kinda makes those episodes stuck in the detention center feel like a waste. Dark Signers are fine, but it is pretty clear that Crow's involvement changed mid writing. It also doesn't make sense that the original owner of the Dragon Head Signer Mark didn't have a Signer Dragon at all. The WRGP wouldn't be so bad if it actually played like a team competition where Yusei wasn't responsible for 4 of the 5 wins Team 5D's got in the whole over 30 episode tournament. The other signers outside Yusei, Jack, and Crow (so the child twins and the girl) barely got anything in the second half. Again, timeline story, but the bad guys are using the ones that attacked them in the future too, just to add that in. I really think people put this show so highly because they think Yusei is best boy or they only watched through Dark Signers. The show isn't bad, and it does have some really good parts in the second half, it just isn't the best or "the last time Yugioh was good"
4. DM, I know it's what started everything, but it did its job at laying the foundation for the future shows to succeed. It was the first shot and did well, but it walked and crawled, so the other shows could run. Battle City is still the best tournament arc in the franchise after watching everything. Pegasus, Marik, Joey, and Kaiba are always a delight to see on screen with the story of Yugi and the Pharoah being a fun one to follow. It's just the character out shine the story so much that you look past the mess that some of it is. It also doesn't help that Tristan and Tea don't contribute too much despite always being there, Kaiba and Joey aren't really allowed to get big wins off major imposing characters until Orichalcos, and Yugi (not the Pharoah) doesn't get to have that same level of development or even sense of agency shown that our other MCs do until the very end. He went through many trials, but it was with the Pharoah in the driver's seat and we don't always have a clear distinction of who's internal monologue we're hearing. Though nostalgia has me love it, objectively, it is one of the weaker shows from a writing standpoint. Also, the jump to the final arc was very jarring and I don't think it managed to recover the momentum until we're wrapping up against Bakura. I will also point out that I don't like how it ended Mai's arc as the only other character to be in most of the arcs, I really wanted her to be relevant to plot (like a descendant of Atlantis) or have that moment of being brought back in the friend group.
5. Arc-V is not bad, in my opinion, but it is so much wasted potential and wracked with problems. On paper, the premise is interesting and the very beginning of it jas you curious where it'll go, especially with the unexpected turn that first tournament takes. But then you get to the Synchro Dimension and the cracks start to show with the pacing and the way this show uses it characters, realizing that the actual first red flag is what they did with Yuto. Characters have so much potential, but many don't achieve it and worse, it impacts your main cast because this show suffers from a bloated character roster. You have your new characters, you have characters from other dimensions, your 2 main protagonists have dimensional counterparts, and then you have legacy characters from past shows you have to give time to because they're fan favorites. It really shows when that final boss battle hits and you see how many people are involved and that's already subtracting 8 from that number. Going back to pacing, we spend so much time in Synchro Dimension that at first you just get a little bored with it, but then you see how little XYZ gets and you're a little annoyed, but then you get to Fusion and it's so much nothing burger/who cares that you get upset Synchro is the only one that any form of world building and special treatment (even more than Standard where you started). There are so many moving parts by the end, very little resolution is given, and then the final few episodes is extended epilogue that doesn't end in a completely satisfying resolution. It tries to take the Duelist Kingdom and Battle City parts of DM, the Dimension hopping and depression bit of GX, legitmately just reskins Fortune Cup of 5Ds, and the Barian Invasion of Zexal to mix them all into this 1 story that kinda forgets the overall picture at times. This is also the first Yugioh with so many named and important girl duelists and it really sabotages all of them by the end, even the boys aren't saved from this fate. The Rival of Arc-V, Declan/Reiji, only has 8 duels in the show, which sounds okay at first until you realize that Arc-V has 148 episodes and his duels count for only 14 of them (they're not even the sole focus sometimes of that episode). Arc-V is best explained as someone tried to do Avatar the Last Airbender but with Yugioh and Sci-fi, keyword being tried. It does have some really cool duels, legacy characters appearing with updated decks is awesome, and it has the best parent/family character in any of the Yugioh shows. Arc-V makes you want to know how they'll reach the end, but makes you doubt the choices taken to get their. (I would say the Action Duels were really a plus, but sadly, they don't stick through the whole season like riding and speed duels do in 5Ds and VRAINS respectively)

I adore Arc-V but the Synchro Dimension arc is so long for no reason at all, and we have so many mistakes on that arc, which is such a shame at the end. I don't think Arc-V is bad (it's just too rushed at the final arc), however, I agree that it could be more consistent and it should had given more fanservice (in the other hand, I dispite the "legacy characters"; they were a mistake too, since the production didn't had plans to do it; Ren from the Arc-V manga should be Jack Atlas, for instance). Also, ZeXal has at least 4 arcs, bro: hunting numbers arc, Duel Carnival arc, Barians first arc and Nash & Barians arc. For last: the DM final arc should be a tier higher; it's not the greatest arc of DM, but it is not that bad either
More fanservice? Like adding zane or quattro? Truesdale was mentioned and lazar came back
VRAINS: good themes, but if your name isn’t Playmaker, Soulburner, Revolver, the Ignis, or Bohman, you don’t matter
Arc V: High ambition, inconsistent execution.
Zexal: Solid but the supporting characters are just support for a reason
5Ds: great first half, inconsistent second half
GX: a chaotic mess but grew more solid as it went along
DM; the original, overrated but a strong start
Sevens: consistent but can be too fast paced
Go Rush: interesting for better and bizarre
Go Rush!! isn't over yet. So I think you shouldn't rate it, the same goes for SEVENS because Go Rush!! is both a sequel and a prequel to it.
Regarding your point about Vrains, I don't undertstand the criticism. You can apply that logic to any of the series. Obviously the main characters and antagonists are much more impactful to the overall story than the side characters. I agree that Vrains handled the side characters poorly, but so does every yugioh series tbh.

*GX:* Slice of Life that tries to do more.
*5D's:* Motorcycles with Dragons

*Sevens:* Loved the Chekhov's Gun format of writing and seeing the supporting cast not treated like garbage.
*GO RUSH:* Early to judge but for now, it's strange.
Zexal just has too many characters but i feel like it has the best supporting characters when it comes to the more important ones
@@surdine6671 That's because compared to other series Vrains purposely already have a small cast compared to the other series, yet they still had issues with treating their side characters well.

Most of us began with duel kingdom
My main complaint with Vrains is that there wasn’t enough deck variety with the villains. If you took a shot every time they said hydradrive or Dark Templar you would be plastered.
You’re exaggerating plus VRAINS still easily had the best Yu-Gi-Oh! gameplay out of all the other YGO anime
@@fxzzy__ Vrains duels are the most boring by far. Every card has like a different effect for any place it finds itself in (they do something in the hand, then in the field, then in the graveyard, then when the are vanished...), so there's never any tension, you know any time someone is about to lose that they can invent an effect for whatever card they have in whatever place that prevents them fron losing.
Also, the results are too predictable and the main cast is too pasive. Every season is: The main characters get locked in separate rooms (or the villains find another way to fight them 1 on 1 in their preferred order), then they duel them following the formula: Is the villain a sidekick? Then they lose when they fight literally anyone. Is the villain the main villain? Then they win unless they are fighting Playmaker. Yeah, there are some exceptions, but they are all also predictable. Its literally the only show when I could guess 100% (no exaggeretion) of the results. I don't think I need to explain how little tension is there.
So, you can't enjoy the duels for the plays nor for seeing who wins and who loses. What's the point then? It is literally the only show where I considered skipping duels (I didn't, but I fell asleep many times). You can't even enjoy the story because the main cast is too pasive (with only few, very boring, exceptions) and because they fail to do anything interesting with all the interesting ideas they had. Like, who even wrote that?
I find curious how many people say that Arc-V had a lot of potential to actually be a great series (from the premise of the show to the character desing). Case in point: everyone is always exited to see a new Arc-V character getting added to Duel Links and see how the narrative progresses (since Duel Links' Arc-V world is an "epiloge" of the series). Ruri and Rin received so much justice by making them actual characters with personalities and Yuri was a delight seeing him still being a complete asshole and having no regrets of his actions. And people loved it.

@Kimoxdo i am an amtuer critic. But story wise, there are three things you need. Objective, motivation, and characters, some like to do plot, characters, and story but for me those three are what make a story from good to great.
Season 1 is some of the best writing I've seen in YGO and it stories in general. Now no lectures about that but motivation rivalry was set up since episode 1 that Yusei needed to leave satellite to face Jack his old friend, Motivation, plot get ready to face off against a pro duelist ex friend who betrayed me, now characters we can see Jack is bored from dueling scrubs and needs excitement and everyone knows there's only one person whoever matched him in a duel it was Yusei now we spent sometime with Yusei before this knowing he cares about his friend's and what's better for them.
It all culminates at episode 4/5 Yusei faces Jack after a couple of years ready for what's to come, then bang Crimson Dragon get introduced now pacing wise story goes hard we get intro after intro keeping you guessing whose going to he the side characters or part of the YGO crew now we get my favorite part the main signers we learn a little bit about them all as Yusei becomes attached to them from his chance encounters Akiza, Luna, Crow (much later) but still that Yusei grew up with Crow and then we find all their motivations then the character development Jesus this development is great Jack feels like a failure he seeks refuge with Carly and it hurts more when she becomes a dark signer, then they have their duel.
You can't compare brother this writing is tight nit.
Luna had development even though most say she didnt she did when she went through the spirit world was great
@@luminessupremacyThe other series do that and way worse than 5ds.

Yugioh was a great part of my early life and I hope to continue to play as I get older
Loving the Vrains love, earned a new sub
you counted zexal as 2 arcs so you can put the entire zexal show in S
1st correct yugioh arc tier list
way to go man you have earned my respect
>DM: Classic but hasn't aged the best. Alot of the game doesn't follow regular Yugioh but it works. Has a lot of filler arcs. Besides the main 3 and the villains, there isn't much in terms of characters.
>GX: A good variety of characters and arcs. It gets better later on but there are alot of individual filler duels. I enjoy fusion but I do think it wasn't best used in series, as several characters don't even use it.
>5Ds: A very consistent first season where everything is topnotch but it stumbles, coasts and falls off a tad in the second season. It does have the best decks used by characters. DM & GX were very unbalanced between caveman Yugioh and OP blowout/plot device cards.
>Zexel: 2 overall great arcs but there is a lot off padding going on. The duels are very samey with Utopia beatdown & plotdevice cards. There are some great characters but also a lot who just don't do anything.
>Arc-V: What hasn't been said about Arc-V? Had a very strong start but fell off starting in the synchro tournament arc, as production was very rushed, with an ending which bored as much as it disappointed.
>VRAINS: I don't like VRAINS. I find it as wasted potential. It never really tackles any of the complex issues it set out to do. I find it meandering and inconsistent but hard to express why.
Excuse me but I like to ask for more clarification on why VRAINS seems like wasted potential and inconsistent and what about your opinions regarding the other duels that are not focused on Utopia or Yuma?
How is Vrains waisted potential when its literally the best written part of yugioh as a whole😂. The characters (other than the mc) actually use real decks with 3 copies of the same card in them. Revolver and Soulburner were both the best rival and duragonist after Kaiba and Joey and its not even close (the closest one being Jack from 5ds). What th did you find dissapointing in it?
I'm with @luce3. I'd like to know your opinion because I know that VRAINS can be hit or miss for some people, so the least we're asking is your opinion on why it doesn't appeal to you
@@therobloxmonkey6704 I mean I guess how people wont find it apealing with it being ai and in a digital world and all, but the story is by far the best.
@@luce3 Story does have potential I'll give points to that. Character development for some characters is not the greatest in my opinion but it's not terrible (Revolver is one of my favorites as well as Soulburner). And then there's worldbuilding; it's cool that we get to explore a digital world but I'd like to explore further the companies and research branches involved (Queen and Chess Pieces are big examples).
I like the whole ranking arcs but I would have broken some of these up a little more. Like the gx season 1 I would have done slice of life for the first half and then second half the shadow keys. Same goes for season 2 and 3. It just in consistent because some of them don’t establish a true story after a hand full of episodes like gx and zexal both starting with a villain of the week arc then transition into an actual tournament or story
I actually really enjoyed Arc-V for what it was! I'll grant you that the friendship cup went on far too long, but the Heartland city arc was great, and Duel Academy Arc was great. The End was really stupid though lol
Zexal being ranked this high is criminal.
Having WRPG and Arc Cradle so low feels criminal. I do concede that the plot feels a bit random at points, with no focus whatsoever, it's kinda of a letdown after Dark Signers. But the duels are amazing. Team 5Ds vs Team Ragnarok is still my favourite Yu Gi Oh duel ever. And then on Arc cradle we have stuff like Yusei vs Antimony wich is amazing and then the final duel. That final duel to save the day was amazing. I just can't help it but love most of 5Ds.
Now Crash Town, I honestly did not like it at all, it definitely had that "filler arc" vibe on it, and I usually don't like filler arcs, same reason I don't like a bunch of stuff going on on Duel Monsters and how scattered both Zexal and GX are.
GX higher than 5D's?? Come on man...
True GX >>5ds
Both are peak
cope harder lol
Ikr can't believe the Jaden does everything show with multiple counts of character assassination and terrible writing is placed higher than 5Ds. Like sure Yusei does a lot but at least Jack and Crow and even Aki in the last Arc got wins and significant ones at that.
GX is better
YuGiOh was not supposed to be all about Dual monsters. Yugi was supposed to be a great gamer but people took to dual monsters to quickly that they pretty much based the series around it. Its why the rules were all over the place too
Zexal kinda also had the numbers search at the beginning
I just have to say... It's ok.
Everybody is allowed their own opinions no matter how objectively wrong and assbackwards they may be.
Great video and great ranking Engima
Here's my ranking to every Yugioh series, excluding Sevens and Go Rush (Best to Worst):
1. 5Ds
2. GX
3. Duel Monsters
4. Zexal
5. VRAINS
6. Season 0
7. Arc-V
Wait where do you stream?
I stream on this channel! The vods are in a playlist :)
Anyone can explain to me how is a duel mode a child created helping an alien stop a war?😭😭😭
Its an anime where playing a card game is what irl translates into a fist fight. What did you expect? XD
That war can be stopped by bringing people together. And Rush Duel is depicted as a way to bring fun, connect people, and understand each other.
The show kinda makes that message quite clear.
@@EnzoGranzotto it's funny because Zwijo tried to use solid holograms to deal real damage with Rush Duels.
Yudias didn't like that but in the final duel of the first season he suggested a more violent way to resolver the conflict since his allies were getting real damage during his duel.
Both ZEXAL Arcs in S-Tier the world really is healing 😭🙏

Enigma: I'm putting the Seven Stars in B tier.
**put in A tier instead*
I wish all Yu-gi-oh fans watched all the series like this
I hope next you can rank the Mangas!
I am slowly trying to, but as much as I like yugioh, I'm not a big fan of long anime if I am not convinced It'll be worth it. I was on a roll with 5Ds this year, until I ran into a boredom speed bump shortly after Akiza was benched by Crow for the second time. Haven't picked up a new yugioh anime since, but I've been tempted by Zexal ever since I watch this guy's hour long video on it. However, most people say the sub is what makes it good whereas the dub is as bad as people say it is, and I'm strictly a dub watcher for yugioh.
@codyhanson1344 Never EVER watch not just Yu-Gi-Oh but any anime in dub, like ever
There is a good reason people say the dub is awful, all the dubs are awful, and you'd enjoy 5ds of you went with it through the sub, because the episode where Shooting Star Dragon is summoned is one of the best episodes in all of Yu-Gi-Oh
But yea, you should give them all a shot in sub, slowly by slowly. They are all great in their own ways.
5ds arc cradle arc is by far the best arc of 5ds, the story, conclusion, villain and his kabbalah cards, everything is perfect
Having seen all the series, which one would you say has the best duels? Ideally, they should have great duel choreography (fun to watch even if you don't know who the characters are and why they're dueling) in addition to a compelling setup.
For me, I often go back to GX for this. I agree that GX has high highs and low lows (and a lot of low lows), but the highs are often accompanied by incredible duel choreography. Every now and then I'll rewatch Zane vs Yubel and Jaden vs Yugi, which stand out as the best two, but there are others worth rewatching, like the season 1 graduation duel, Jaden vs Aster round 2, Jaden vs Crowler in season 4, Jaden vs Bastian, Jaden vs Alexis (season 2).
I love the original Duel Monsters to death, but because the rules are still kinda wonky, rewatching them just for the sake of good duel monsters rather than the plot just doesn't do it for me. Which ones stand out as the best for you, among all series?
zexal is cold, just for the reason that yuma is just like joey except he has an actually slightly alright deck, UNLIKE SOME MC'S I COULD MENTION.
Yusei?
Ok wow couldn't take the video anymore serious after you put part 1 of Zexal into the S-Tier. Not even the biggest Zexal fans I know would put part 1 of Zexal in S Tier, especially not above GX Season 3&4 or the Fortune Cup Arc.
Not only is Zexal better but Yuma would smoke every character in Gx in a duel
@@WildFang39Yuma loses all the time. Even if you like him better, that doesn't make him the best protagonist because he is good at the game lol
@spicymemes7458 u know what I am talking about stop being a smartass u pylon
No Sevens and Go Rush just shows how much people want it to fail. But its actually a hit in Japan and I have really enjoyed it. And from the recent Go Rush episode it is clear that Yugioh 9 will be a rush anime. So haters can cry, but Go Rush is my favourite series with Zexal at Second and Sevens at third. Dont get me wrong, I love EVERY Yugioh anime unlike people who hate for fun but this is my personal opinion. I grew up with GX so this isnt recency bias and my age does not only have 1 digit.
Honestly its just sad people scapegoat the Rush anime when multiple Gallop animes have many worse flaws but they will only mention the art style.
Edit: Just finished the video, he didnt even add a reason. Wow
How defensive are you?
@@spicymemes7458 He has a right to be tbf, there is criticism, but the Rush Anime has faced abuse from Yugiboomers before. The same people that 'look at a poster' or 'watch a few episodes' instead of actually giving a whole show a chance.
Listen, if they dont want to watch it, fine. But if they start complaining about it with no evidence that is where it crosses the line.
Honestly people need to drop the obvious Agenda against the Rush shows it is disgusting to see now. If there is a new anime that will be rush like @NoOne thinks there will be I think a lot of Yugioh fans will have to suck it up and give Rush a chance. If not and they want to be stubborn and then complain then they can do one.

I loved Waking the Dragons so much, such good mini villians and story telling, was even cool to see joey win 1 duel just to lose the other one.
Will you watch Sevens and Go Rush as well?
They wont give it a chance, people are too stubborn to admit they are wrong about something so even if they like it they will paint this picture that its rubbish.
Oh we are finally here
Calls arc-v Terrible but puts vrains at the top 😂 gotta be the funniest shit in 2024
Opinions exist
Vrains battles and story were way better than Arc-V
saying wrgp is the worst arc in the franchise is the most dog shit take ever XD stopping watching
I grew up on yugioh zexal which is what got me into the franchise but 5ds was my favorite series
5Ds is peak like every subsequent can't compare. This is why Zexal, imo expects 5Ds, but it can't be peak like think about it, we reached the best its going to be hard to get off that high.
Good stuff!
Putting Dimension World in B might be the most baffling take I've seen in my entire life. Arguably the best written arc in the entire franchise, especially the relationship between Jaden and Yubel. This would be fine if you at the same didn't put the first Zexal arc into S. The arc that single-handedly made me and many others consider just not watching Zexal. I feel some massive bias going on, really feels like you picked out every minute flaw you could find in GX and 5DS but kind of waved away everything in Zexal and Vrains and only focused on the positives.
the shadow game at the end of duel monsters IS going back to the past
>"Every" YuGiOh Anime
>The sevens and go rush in question:
It's funny cause sevens and go rush are top 3 genuinely
Edit after the literal last line of the video: you putting them under arc-v is crazy. If you didn't like them that's fine but I hope you have a better objective criticism than "new artstyle bad, what's a rush duel?" as many seem to.
All of them are goated especially 5ds.
True
I stopped watching 5Ds after Akiza was officially benched for a second time for Crow. The first time was whatever, but then they had it set up for some amazing character growing opportunities when benching Crow for Akiza, allowing Akiza to fully get into the turbo dueling thing, completely getting over her fears and being able to ride alongside the boys as equals, while also giving Crow a significant personal obstacle when it comes to getting over how he has to miss out on the tournament due to his recklessness. Don't get me wrong, I didn't intentionally stop watching immediately after she got benched, I fully intended to watch the whole thing, but I just kinda got bored a few episodes after Crow came back and never felt like watching it since. Akiza makes things way more compelling, and all of Crow's moments (like becoming a signer and summoning the black wing dragon from his bike) always felt so forced and unearned.
Zexal being your favorite was unexpected im not sure if people will take you seriously but i agree vector arc was one of the best in all of yugioh and one of the best villains. But the tournament arc does not deserve such a high ranking
Overrated
Considering they were androids, it's _possible_ Z-One intentionally built Paradox and Aporia (and by extension his 3 sub-personalities) to be more 'evil' than they should be in an attempt to foster more growth from Yusei since Z-One's favored goal was to get Yusei to evolve further and save the future in a more peaceful way; he just ended up pushing through with the Ark Cradle plan was because he was running out of time. It _is_ still admittedly weird, though, that Aporia and his sub-personas had this whole superiority complex, looking down on Yusei and co. for being "humans", when it was explicitly shown they remember who they were and their specific 'despair'. Aporia might've just been so consumed by it that he views the humans of the present era even lower since they started the path to the ruined future, but that's kinda stretching it. Also don't forget Z-One programmed the 3 sub-Aporias to call him "God", so there must've been _some_ kind of ego tripping there.
As for my take on the Ark Cradle arc, I won't deny it had great moments like Rua's awakening, Yusei vs Antinomy, and of course Yusei vs Z-One, but those are almost all near the end, and honestly, the build-up and overall execution really brings it down, especially since it kind of detracts from the setting the first two seasons established. We can always connect the dots and fill some plot holes in hindsight, like Iliaster went through the trouble of causing Zero Reverse instead of just killing Yusei's dad to shut the Moment project down because they wanted to cause a tragedy so horrifying no one would ever try replicating it, and they didn't just kill Yusei because deep down Z-One still wanted him to evolve, but it really feels like it takes away from the ancient civilization cult theme they had going even if you can stretch a possible explanation for their motives and actions to make it "make sense".
I think C is a fair tier for it, even with my strong bias for 5D's. For the rest of the arcs, Fortune Cup and Dark Signers were peak, though I'd honestly put Fortune Cup in S tier as well since its world building and characterization were so engaging, and the duels always felt meaningful even within the tournament; biggest example would be Yusei vs Aki, with Yusei trying to get Aki to open up and realize for herself that she doesn't really enjoy all the destruction she causes, conveyed through Stardust stopping Black Rose's self-destructive nature. F tier for the WRGP arc is also fair, but I'd personally put it in D tier just for Shooting Star's intro having Clear Mind.
I love duelist kingdom exactly for all the bs that going . Attacking the moon with a stone soldier is simply peak fiction
WRGP feels so long and disconnected because they lost a lot of staff during that time to work on the Bonds Beyond Time movie, and had run out of the notes and planning that the first showrunner had left behind after leaving after Ep26.
It was then surprising it turned out so good.
Incredible video! I truly feel like you gave each of these series honest takes despite the short explanations required for this video length.
Here's my own personal list after finally finishing Vrains:
Zexal - Absolutely amazing series with such interesting characters and an INCREDIBLE protagonist duo whose combined character arc remains my favorite out of the whole series. It also feels like I learn more about the characters and series the more I watch it.
Vrains - Honestly love this series for the same reasons you listed and I don't really agree with most people's opinions on the final arc since I thoroughly enjoyed it a ton.
Arc V (Before Synchro Dimension) - THEY STARTED OUT SOOO GOOD! Extremely well written characters with the best supporting cast in all of Yu-Gi-Oh! They also had one of the most gripping story concepts for combining war with Yu-Gi-Oh! elements. I won't get too deep into it, but after the first dimension, Arc V seemed to have gone through developmental hell with a series of unfortunate events that sealed its downfall.
5DS (Before second tournament) - Incredible characters with amazing dynamics between said characters all put into one seamless story. It kept me hooked the entire way through and I didn't feel exhausted ONCE on my binge watch.
Duel Monsters + Toei Season 0 - Such an incredible classic anime series that still holds up today with its great character writing and plot progression. I also loved the final arc and how it was able to bring back its original TTRPG and ancient Egyptian inspiration. I just wish we got to learn more about Yugi's family and Bandit Bakura's past since they both felt underbaked.
5DS (Second Tournament onwards) - It just felt like they backtracked way too much on the Illiaster conspiracy and previous character dynamics that it doesn't feel like the same series (in a very bad way).
GX - A story with a lot of interesting characters that really only got used after the third arc started. The series started picking up pace later on, but then it immediately undid most of the important character deaths with a last minute rug pull that was never established previously unlike Zexal which actually had a way of reviving allies established WAY early on. I know my suspension of disbelief is strong with this series, but this was just too much for me that it REALLY soured the final arc for me. It would be my least favorite if it weren't for...
Arc V (Synchro Dimension onwards) - THEY MESSED IT UP! ALL OF IT! DOWN THE TOILET! Everything they did well was either completely undone or was flanderized into oblivion. I consider Duel Links to be canon purely because they at least had the decency to undo one of the most blatant and biggest mistake of the anime's ending. I have seen SEVERAL AMATEUR FANFIC WRITERS come up with better endings for this series. I am NOT exaggerating. It is THIS bad.
I am a 5Ds Apologist. That show is so good.
Agreed! Yugioh 5D’s is amazing! And Yugioh Zexal is S tier! Take that haters!

Idk if i watch another series , but how Zexal I is in S tier. I agree with The second part but the first part , how??

Definitely some strong disagreements with the overall series rankings but I still respect your giving waking the dragon and zexal arcs their credit. My rankings overall are

5ds
Vrains
Gx
Zexal
Arc V
Sevens I started but couldnt finish for how bad it was imo, and I would put season zero at around GX level. I definitely think 5ds will grow on you with time like Zexal and vrains did for me. Vrains to me though was cut way to short of its potential though which was a shame and lowers its score. I also think The arc cradle arc of 5ds and the dimension arc and the arc v synchro arcs should definitely be flipped around with season 4 of gx, crash town or season 1 of 5ds, and the Xyz arc of arc v respectively.
There is a part of me that still can't believe I watched Arc-V all the way through. How did I finished that show it was so bad ;_;
Can't believe you put S2 of Vrains so high, Bohman is the most boring YGO antagonist ever, every duel with him is a drag and there were like 10 of them in that arc.
Ikr? He just makes the story so much worse. He's boring, have an extremely inconsistent personality and have way too much screen time. Having too much screen yimr isn't bad by itself (AI dueled in almost every duel during the last arc), but the character in question needs to be good for that to work, otherwise it's just a letdown.
@@MrBoo703 It really doesn't help that Bohman's deck is also super boring.
In s3 of GX Yubel duels Ryou, Amon and then Judai twice, all in a row. But Yubel changed decks between each match so it didn't feel stale. Bohman used the same deck and the same combo all the time, and the cards had no personality whatsoever, they were literally just lines with legs. Konami didn't even print them they were so boring.
I feel like the beginning of Arc-V really hooks you and shows you how much potential all these characters and storylines have. By the time you realize nothing will come from that, you've already finished the show, lol.
Also yeah, Vrains has a lot of good in it, but Bohman sucks and personally, I don't find the duels very interesting to watch, either. Half of them I lost interest during some 20-actions-turn spending forever link climbing to where an interesting monster may hit the field.
What happens when you combine Yugioh,G Gundam, Gurren Lagann Akira,Jojo and Gintama? You get the best show of the franchise.Even after 16 years,Yugioh 5Ds is still my favorite show of the franchise.
Season 1 was very nearly perfect, but it became a bit of a slog shortly after. Not terrible by any means, but I have yet to be compelled to finish it
@@codyhanson1344 I very much differing opinions on the second half than most. The first half of 5Ds was truly perfect but it never sold me on the character relationships,at best it was the traumatic bonding experience. The pre WRGP arc made me care about the bond between characters through slice of life like Gintama. And just like Gintama the bond that is shown carries 5Ds to the final with Z-One in spite of the Team Unicorn and Catastrophe fights which always grind the watch to a halt.
I love zexal is so good. Its the best yugioh series. (vrains and 5ds, and gx are also good)
Around 12:20 This is the *FIRST HALF* of their last year, Season 3 and 4 happen on the same School year, their 3rd one.
This video is so fucking peak
Alright story aside can we all agree Duel Monsters and GX had the best theming?
Black magic, curses and so on, the more sci-fy it got the less i seem to care
I dont agree with some of these takes but this is a really interesting list. I realized I havent rewatched zexal in a good long while and need to do that soon
Bruh whats so hard to explain about why they use motorcycles to duel on 5D's? They do it because by doing that their vehilcles generate energy during the duels that us gathered to sustain the city's infastructure
There we go, a basic explanation without spoilers
