The great chemist, Linus Pauling, twice a Nobel laureate and winner of numerous awards and honours, is considered one of the greatest scientists ever. Alternative medical practitioners, particularly those advocating high-dose vitamic C, love to point out that Linus Pauling used mega doses of vitamin C daily, over 20g a day in fact, for many years, and he creditedn his good health at an old age to this vitamin. But what these practitioners don't say or know is that Linus Pauling used plain old synthetic ascorbic acid. Many health practitioners have little actual knowledge of science and keep making fundamental mistakes and promote wrong ideas. There's a misconception about "natural" vs lab-made supplements. Other than stereo or mirror isomers, chemicals behave exactly the same way or produce the same effects regardless of how that chemical was produced, ie whether extracted from "natural" sources or produced synthetically. Put in another way, a molecule is a molecule, regardless of its origins. The only exception is isomers - mirror images of molecules. The other misconception propounded by some health practitioners is that a naturally sourced vitamin is not only more complete and superior to a synthetic version, but that the synthetic vitamin is harmful or depletes your body of nutrients. The truth, as said before, is that both vitamins perform exactly the same, given the same conditions. The only caveat is that ALL vitamins work synergistically with other nutrients in vivo. Also, most vitamins often require co-factors in order to carry out their functions. A "natural" vitamin C, for example, may have these co-factors in place already - bioflavonoids, copper, and the enzyme tyrosinase. Synthetic vitamin C is pure ascorbic acid. But this does not mean that the synthetic vitamin C is useless. In and of itself ascorbic acid offers important physiological and immuno protection to the body. And whatever co-factors it needs, it gets them from the person's diet. Yet another misconception is that everything natural is good, and everything synthetic is bad. Wrong again. Regarding folic acid, for a subset of the population, it may be harmful because these people cannot effectively convert folic acid to the more biologically active forms, such as methylfolate. But many people still derive benefit from folic acid. As for B-complex, most people would benefit from taking a B-complex, even synthetic. The only caveat is that for a subset of the population that has low methylation capacity, folic acid and the cyanocobalamin form of vitamin B12, are useless, even somewhat harmful. These people would need methylated forms of these 2 vitamins.

I tend to agree that the things we ingest should be as natural as possible. I believe that since the genesis of the human organism (beings) is in nature, there has to be a connection between human beings and things that occur naturally in nature. A synergy if you will.
@@111qp2 For the reason that some of these supplement companys are selling out to maga corporations - I think it's very important to have a natural/health food store that keeps tabs on these companies once they're sold to the corporations & that is willing to stop selling the products, if they don't maintain the original integrity & quality. Mama Jean's, our local health food store does still carry Garden Of Life, but they're very diligent in keeping them honest. Proctor & Gamble acquired New Chapter around 10 years ago. Mama Jean's still carries their brand also. Several years ago, when Kraft bought the company that made Boca burgers, crumbles, etc., Kraft would no longer guarantee that it would continue to be non GMO. Mama Jean's stopped carrying Boca products.
I have good relationships with several health food stores. It was my personal decision to stop using Garden of Life and NewChapter. I was very disappointed with the change in ownership of both companies. Jordan Rubin was founder of Garden of Life but sold it and is currently in partnership with Dr. Josh Axe Ancient Nutrition. I continue to do research and speak with health experts.
Ascorbic Acid is a mild acid. Also, I often have a small amount (from 1 teaspoon to 1tablespoonful) of apple cider vinegar with meals. These acids (Ascorbic Acid and apple cider vinegar) help with digestion and breakdown of proteins in the stomach and absorbtion of minerals. However, your correct an acidic mouth can destroy tooth enamel and contribute to cavities. Solution : Immediately after finishing your meal brush teeth with toothpaste or at the least rinse out mouth with plenty of water (preferably with a pinch of baking soda dissolved) and spit out the water. This will de-acidify the mouth. Ideal situation - the oral cavity, alkaline - the stomach acidic during and immediately after a meal. Also, the preferred form of folic acid to take as a supplement is Not folic acid, but methyl folate.
Not everyone can take methylated vitamins. I have MCAS and histamine intolerance and methylated vitamins give me a racing heart and severe insomnia. The type of B vitamin in this vitamin is the best for absorption and tolerance for everyone. 😊

Can you make a video on the b complex vitamins
Doctor, thanks for the video and its helpful information. Also, this is the first UA-cam video without the long introduction and the ridiculous accompanying music.
What is the EGCG that you take I could not find it on Vitatree Thank you
They're killing us physically and financially as well....
It’s a jungle out there ….
Chem trails, water, food and meds. Everything.
@@dad242 yes chem trails = bioengineered viruses and of course the - if you want to keep your job experimental vaxxes too
@ Bill - Yes and they are trying to socially too
Who's forcing you to buy?
But where do u find these whole vitamins
Thanks, Doc. Good to know I've been taking vitamins all my life which are made from gasoline. Also, good to know my mama, when I was a little boy with a "chest cold," would "shmear" my chest with "Vicks Vapor Rub" ( made from turpentine ) and put a handkerchief over the stuff and send me to bed. It's a wonder I made it past my mid-70s.
Ya it is a wonder, but being you have I guess it really wasnt that bad for you !
@@vroomgc I appreciate your comment and have to say that you replied exactly as a scene in the movie "Kindergarten Cop."... The drugstore scene towards the end of the movie... parallel concepts. My brother got the same treatment but he's dead at 62.
ROF-LMAO
😂😂😂😂
So what does it mean when the vitamin label reads, *"Contains less than 2% of magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide"* ?
Is Bio active B Complex okay-to take? What kind do we buy? Is it called whole food B complex? Help!!!
I am so glad that I've found your site you are simply Amazing no one else has ever told us has much about vitamins you have said more in 5 minutes thank you so much 💓
What brand of vitamins do you recommend?
We recommend Vitatree as their products do not include any fillers or flow agents! You can find them at us. vitatree.com. - Team Dr. Janine
I tend to agree that the things we ingest should be as natural as possible. I believe that since the genesis of the human organism (beings) is in nature, there has to be a connection between human beings and things that occur naturally in nature. A synergy if you will.
Thank you! Love your information!!

Thank you very much. I take a raw B-complex from Garden of Life. It is plant based. Stay safe everyone.
I'm going to buy that one. It's a good one, according to my health food store's staff
Thankyou for the info I am going to order Garden of Life B complex
Nestle owns Garden of Life. Their are other whole food vitamins but do the research.
@@111qp2 For the reason that some of these supplement companys are selling out to maga corporations - I think it's very important to have a natural/health food store
that keeps tabs on these companies once they're sold to the corporations & that is willing to stop selling the products, if they don't maintain the original integrity & quality. Mama Jean's, our local health food store does still carry Garden Of Life, but they're very diligent in keeping them honest.
Proctor & Gamble acquired New Chapter around 10 years ago. Mama Jean's still carries their brand also.
Several years ago, when Kraft bought the company that made Boca
burgers, crumbles, etc., Kraft would no longer guarantee that it would continue to be non GMO.
Linus Pauling used ascorbic acid, how do you explain his findings
❤❤ thanks for your ideas and lessons learned ❤❤
You are welcome! - team drj9

Eat a healthy diet and you won't have to worry about all that nonsense
@@veganlifestyleloveanimals1744 the thing is not everyone can eat nutritious toods because of health constraints especially the senior ones. Like for ex. cruciferous veggies are good but not for those with high uric acid so supplements are needed.
@@victoriaaletaaustria2817 When you have a healthy diet you no longer have high uric acid. Which is why men with gout issues are told to switch to wholefood plant-based. High uric acid you want to stay away from meat and seafood. Cruciferous veggies are not the issue.
Why do some folate supplements say “methyl” folate as opposed to just folate?
Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Doctor what would you suggest for energy?
The VA stopped giving me fish oil because of quality control, whats a good reputable brand for fish oil?
Thank you. Which vitamins B and C are reasonably priced and are good for you? There's so many brands and I know some aren't as good as others. Thanks again

Non fortified nutritional yeast for b complex
@@doctorjanine is benfotiamine ok to take
@@johncarlo4036 But the problem is there has no B12 and folate in non fortified nutritional yeast.

A folate is a salt of folic acid. Nutritionally they are pretty much the same. I'm not a nutritionist; I'm a chemist.
I have a blood disorder that some of my hemoglobins are defective so I was prescribed with folic acid
So, which brands do you use? Id like to be informed Thank you for all
I would like to know as well.
What is the problem if a vitamin is produced synthetically or extracted from a natural product when the chemical formula will be exactly the same and the final product clean for consumption?
Thanks
I understood from a recent radio programme that the synthetic form of vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid only contains 4% real vitamin C. I am careful to buy my vitamin C supplements from Companies where the vitamin iC is from food forms (in the U.K.)
Vitatree Plus Organic Vitamin C is a concentrated whole food vitamin C that does not contain any synthetic vitamins. It is made from Camu Camu berries and Acerola cherries, both of which are naturally very high in natural Vitamin C. Team Dr. Janine
Excelente información, es la primera vez que un profesional habla de los ingredientes de flujo que traen la mayoría de las vitaminas, Gracias.
Easier said than done. I don't think most people have the time or the money to make sure they are getting everything they need from food.
