Big shout out to the great and much missed John Guerin for rerecording a lot of the original tracks. Bird was like no other horn player before or since; he completely changed the actual SOUND of the thing, like Hendrix, Jaco Pastorius or Art Tatum. Thank god they invented recorded music in time to catch his performances.
Without recorded music, for Parker to hear the widely-spread records of Louis Armstrong to attain the foundations of his style, Parker's style probably would never have developed.
This must be truth because I don’t see comments from the jazz religious scholars that debunk how this scene does not portray the actual historical accounts 😂
is this song actually a traditional jewish song or is it just played in that style? does anyone know the name of it? i'd be interested in seeing the full sheet music for it.
U people are all iggnorant for arguing this. Bird only has two videos of footage of him. U don't know his movements. Tired, boring musicians will say, "he didn't have to move so much" and older, wiser musicians will say, "what the fuck do u know?"

Watch Louie Bluie- he was a jazz player who dipped into many different music styles and many different gigs such as this. Working musicians back then did what they could. Even Robert Johnson was known to play whatever was popular while busking for money on street corners.
This is one of the best scenes from the movie...."these boys are not jewish...but they´re GOOOOD!", lol

Yeah, imagine if recording music wasnt inventes in that time, we would only know his music by rumors
If there ever was a place for Charlie to express himself on the horn, it'd be there.
The Yiddish expression is absolutely beautiful.
what attention to detail! red rodney is playing a real vintage martin committee!!
First thing I noticed when the camera was on him. And he's actually using the right fingerings maybe 70% of the time too.
*Don't ask... Don't ask...*

Siman Tov - Mazel Tov - Haveinu Shalom Aleichem
playing over in the minor would have been to easy for Parker

what's a jazz drummer doing at a jewish wedding gig if it's supposed to be folk songs?
Don't ask.. Don't ask..
K. Hall I ask I ask
The whole band is a jazz band playing Jewish wedding; that's the point.
pgoggs: just another gig.

I don't know, but it's not Philly - Philly's face is much rougher.
According to critic Gary Giddins it was Bird, Monk and Blakey.
Do you know what is the name of this song?
These guys just stole the sound from John Zorn
belive me, many musicians have bigger mannerisms than in this movie ..
barak is hebrew. it means ligthning
It also means " bless." ...or, "adore." My church's name is Berachah church. (in Hebrew, the "ch" sounds like "k")
Who wants to bet the bartender and waiters got stiffed that night?
If the bartender had your attitude? I could see it happen. But, it would not have. Blacks and Jews. Do you like them?
Don't ask.. Don't ask..
Genez blacks ya...not to much the Jews
My favorite 🤩 scene 🎬!!
does anybody know the name of the song ?
Joseph Tatum the Jew song
