David Phillips I have had my new mac for about 9 months. I didn't really know how to operate it when I got it as I was a windows user and I refused to go to windows 10. I am struggling but with your class I have learned more in the last two hours than I have in the last 9 months. Thank you so much. Debbie Tarpley from Aiken, SC

I have just purchased my very first Mac after using windows based PC's for over 20 years.
As I'm a very "techie" person, but yet I found myself very clueless regarding macOS.
This guide is super informative and very well explained. I highly appreciate you're effort and time creating this video for us new Mac users.
    Thank you David ! :)

OMG...you are a gem. I recently went from PC to iMac desktop and Mac laptop. I have been having panic attacks since then. All of my classes are zoom for now and everything is done on the computer. I have to constantly leave the zoom to try and figure this mac out. I feel like I went from my iPhone to an Android. I just finished two classes listening to the Prof going on and on. So, the last thing I wanted to do was sit back in front of a computer and listen to someone speak..lol! But, you have made me feel so comfortable now. I still have a lot of questions. But, this is a start. Thank you!

I started on a mac, back in the 90's when I was a teacher, and switched to a pc for business 20 years ago. My new Macbook has been a glorified paperweight for months because I just couldn't make sense of it, and didn't take the time until today. Your video really did give me hope. Can't thank you enough.

This is my second I Mac. So I'm not a beginner. But I'm watching anyway to fill in the gaps. From teaching skiing I've seen firsthand how skipping the fundamentals in ANY learning curve will bite you because you tend to make "your own system" work through grim determination. That may be fine until things get steep and challenging on skis or mind boggling on a computer. I've been going through a lot of that lately learning a lot of new ( camera) tech under time pressure. I've shot vid and edited on my mac for years, but this week nothing I know is helping. WE ALL NEED MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS ONE! Thank you. I've been subscribed for a while and your is my go to video for I Movie. Still haven't mastered it yet and get furious at times because I had the older program down. They changed so much but I have yet to see an advantage in outcome. But thank heavens there is a tutorial that I can follow. Thanks again

It went down easy for me because this I mac is only a few months old. Last year I had to change OS on a nine year old I mac. That was scary but got me through 9 months with a teetering Hard Drive. But back to Mojave -- I'm 69 and my eyes are liking the dark background. I have a few eye conditions and the strain at the end of the day isn't doing my eyes any good. Eliminating all that glare has been a relief. BTW I'm in NH an hour north of Boston. Another New Englander.

I have been a PC user and Programmer for many years...since 1985, but have never used an iMac. I found an older, used one for sale on Amazon at a price I could not resist, so as soon as it is delivered I will need all of the information I learned from this video. I realize that some of the features may not be available on my iMac, but at least I learned how to navigate through the different settings to explore the settings for the functions I do have. I have used an iPad for several years, but some of the things on the iMac are different than on the iPad, so I am essentially a beginner when it comes to using an iMac. Thank you for this video to help make my first exposure to iMacs a little less confusing.

Your tutorial videos are the best available! I have wasted time on content creators who use misleading titles, go way too fast or who are simply in it for views. I am learning so much and coming back for reference later. I have been unable to find clear & concise information like I’ve gotten from your videos. As a very new user (1 week newbie) it’s been invaluable.

    David-
I just found your UA-cam Tutorials and am addicted, in the best way. I have always been a PC user and only recently have seriously begun to try to learn how Apple MacBook & various Apple devices work. I have used an iPhone (now iPhone 11) and an iPad for years, but have been really frustrated and dreaming that I would be able to find a tutor (online is great) and maybe sometime will be able to consult directly with you.
Your series on Apple devices has been a Godsend! I have a MacBook Air -Mojave edition and have reviewed your tutorial for Mac beginners 2 times in the last few days.
You have a great presentation style and the selected content that you focus on is perfect as an introduction to the essential aspects of the operating system with your references to PC (secondary vs right click) being very useful.
I hope to do some iMovies at some point in the future and have lots of recorded videos waiting to be edited. As a note that will be curious to you, when I was in East Africa I (1968 as a Peace Corps Volunteer) I used a "reel to reel" video recorder, carried on a backpack, to record training activities in farming Co-op village settings. Needless to say, there was no editing done, except what I could edit when recording.
I look forward to continuously reviewing your various UA-cam trainings and at some time talking directly with you.
Thanks so much for your excellent, creative tutorials,
    Best Regards-

Thanks so much, David. I've actually used Mac products solely since 1987. This video was SO HELPFUL. So many of the things you laid out I have either never used OR had to do searches in Mac Communities to figure out. I just upgraded to a new iMac from my mid 2011. Before doing so I watched another of your videos to show me what I needed to do when backing up to my old iMac before migrating to the new. Clean My Mac is a wonderful app too! Again, this 67 year old woman thanks you!

If anyone was wondering the 'option' button is, it is the button with 'alt' written on it. Note sure why it isnt referred to as the alt button, especially in a new user tutorial video...

IDK. I was on Windows for 10 years before Macs, and OSX was just as familiar, but much much easier and comfortable(my first OS X was Leopard). Like it has anything that was missing in windows for me.
Also… Chrome is a garbage on macs. Slower, doesn’t have typing autocorrection like Safari(extremely handy if you typing a lot or have specific spelling issues), very nasty bookmarks organizing, ugly UI, etc… Only advantage is for those who using UA-cam a lot, because google optimizing it only for chrome, even animated previews.

he seems to use special lenses that transform his pupils from natural black to multiple circles, perhaps he finds that cool and charming. While it is ok I personally find natural eyes more pleasant.

Yes I have to say I bought a 2 TB MacBook Pro to do some video editing about three months ago. I made it through the basic project I needed to do but it’s just been sitting there ever since and I’ve been using my $200 Hewlett-Packard Stream. I have been on windows since computers came out so it’s definitely hard for me to make the transition. It’s really like learning a new language at 44 years old. I’m still using Microsoft paint daily. It’s just very hard to learn the basics like cut and paste and screen capping and switching through programs and saving files and finding them and stuff. On windows it flows subconsciously without even thinking about it and I can work 1 million times faster. I know I should take advantage of this awesome computer I have just collecting dust in front of me so I’ve started watching a few videos.

What a great help for me. I've had Macs for longer than I can remember, including my now 8-year-old mac, hopefully to be replaced soon. I can usually fix stuff that goes wrong, but being basically a hunt and peck sort of person, and too hurried to understand what the heck Apple was saying about mostly anything (though they were always polite), I just mucked along, fixing what I had to, but never really understanding how all the parts worked. I absolutely loved your class, and learned so much. You are clear and concise, easy to follow and I am very grateful. So if you see an old lady in a beat-up car with a flag saying DAVID COX ROCKS! you'll know it's me. Thank you.

I don't usually comment, like or share anything with my account on UA-cam. Also I'm not a Mac beginner, but I watched it anyway cause is always good to see someone else's knowledge/opinion about things that you know/use, so I would like to congratulate yourself for the quality and content of the video, really straight forward and I'm sure it helped tons of people out there.. I'm subscribed to the channel now and hoping for some more content and shared knowledge. Keep up the good work! Cheers.
