Thanks David. We pretend the weather is rubbish up here to keep out too many tourists... ; ) Thats not our best view either! 90degrees left and we see the Atlantic sunsets in all their created glory!
I've bought all this series of wagons and have to say they are superb except for the couplings. On every other metric - detail, paint, decals, moulding quality, rolling resistance, price etc. they win over Hornby - not that the Hornby offer is in any way below par. It's great to see a truly British manufacturer competing on all fronts with Hornby's Chinese factories. That said, the Peco couplings do need a rethink. I think these Peco wagons will run as a fixed rake on my layout, rather than being used for shunting. At this stage with a new product in a new scale, to have only one issue requiring review is credit to Peco. Hoping they take heart, get good sales on these models, and do more in TT. We do need much more rolling stock to get the scale up and flying. Always enjoy your videos - thank you, and please keep up the good work! 👍
Very kind of you to comment Pete, and yes, I think it is very exciting to see that stuff made in this country can readily compete with much bigger manufacturers operating out of China. The coupling issue is simply one of tweaking the design. As you say, hope Peco really run with this!
Brilliant! Well done Peco! I've really been following the progress of TT120 since its release as you know. I think its a wonderful scale and something I will invest in sooner or later no doubt.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Martin - haven't watched your weathering video yet - but it's on the list! Not something I've ever dared to try so I am keen to get some ideas.
Thats very kind Peachy - appreciate it. Been thinking of hosting a live-streamed Zoom chat for some of the Sub-1k subscriber youtubers. Let me know if you're interested! Be great to pick your brains - just informal chat. Hope to Get a few other interested too.
I bought a rake of these wagons (December 2024) and the design of the couplings have changed for the better. At the time of writing, Hornby are dearer and often out of stock!
It does seem they missed out on the spoked wheels - it's not especially noticeable in real life, but it depends what you are prioritising. Thanks for watching!
That is one hell of a view out of your window, I thought it was always overcast and raining in Scotland. Great review by the way😆

I want to do QLD 3'6" in TT and the old 9ft N scale wagon are just a bit bigger than the 7ft QLD wagons. Very close in a pinch.
Good stuff Greg, I wish I’d done the ramp test! 🤦♂️

Yes this has been a worthwhile improvement from Peco.
To uncouple all you need it a plastic glue spreader or a wooden lollipop stick that you slide under and push up slightly. Easy
Haven't quite got myself organised enough for that yet - but you're right - the simplest solutions are th e best. Thanks for watching.
I prefer the old wood frame with spoked wheels wagons but then I am old steam era.
