I Bought a 1980 Bucyrus Erie 25-B Dragline & Brought It Home!

Yes it's true... I have purchased another dragline. This bad boy was on Facebook Marketplace for a couple of years. Watch as we slug it back to my property... mistakes were made that we won't ever repeat!

Looks like you got a very nice machine there not to heavy for low bedding and 50 feet is perfect for dragging nice wide pads looks like it’s got very low hours. Make sure you find every grease zirk because they are all critical and grease is cheap enjoy your 25-B

I would break down the jib and chain the sections to the lower using two oil drums and drive up and over the rear wheels of the low loader trailer single handed (as i was expected to !) on a regular basis...usually in filthy cold weather. Miss the old girl though.

A beautiful 25-B! I am curious: Looks like a dragline is not as portable as an excavator. It also looks like a dragline can do some things more efficiently than an excavator. For contracting jobs, how does portability enter in to the project?

Always use gloves when handling wire rope. Especially older rope. Next time try dropping the pendant lines onto the side of boom, to disconnect the bridle and pin it to the boom butt. It helps.

Trailer was definitely a bit narrow for the undercarriage of the machine but it could have been a lot worse during the unload. Beautiful machine though. Sorry for the critique lol 😂 would have been nice to know the swing lock was actually working!! Shit happens. 👍

I have an opertunity too buy one of these.its in much Ruffer shape.comes with clam shell and drag bucket also a 3 part block and a cable operated excavator boom for 5000.00
