@jshowa o I think everyone knows that, those stupid whales that have cam girl fetishes are still going to fork out money for attention and false appreciation

I would assume that the mega-mind engineers at Twitch and Amazon are smart enough to only store hashed passwords in their databases. Hashed passwords take thousands of years to decrypt using current computer technology so I wouldn't be worried about that. The risky part is that some of that source code, especially from the earlier internal repo commits, will include OAuth tokens and some of those tokens could still be valid on some containers. We'll have to wait and see what part two brings to the table to know whether we should be scared or not.
PS: If the leak is deep enough to include passwords, it will most definitely include any adresses/personal information you've given to Twitch *directly*. You probably shouldn't be worried about the tax information you've given as part of the onboarding process since those forms go directly to Amazon and are most likely not stored on Twitch databases.

ua-cam.com/video/S9JGmA5_unY/v-deo.html
@@Tommy50377 That video only talks about 256 bit hashing in general. Passwords are a special case because they're usually made of ASCII characters, less than 20 characters long and contain names or words. This reduces the search size significantly and opens up the potential to dictionary attacks and such.
This is the thing, if their source code included private keys and tokens (bad practice) then there will be a shit load of secondary attack vectors that this opens up. Wouldn't be surprised to see Twitch getting hacked again in the near future and more leaks.

I'm actually pretty amazed this happened. I used to work for Amazon and their security is extremely tight with multiple layers of authentication. The fact Twitch wasn't this way (because you would need many many accounts not to mention potentially physical access) is wild. Like is Twitch not using hardware 2FA for critical data? That way even if you have accounts and password you still need a physical security token which is near impossible to spoof.
If their security was as good as Amazon's (which I mean... I should have been) then the only way I can conceive of this happening is someone internal who has access actually doing the leak.
Very likely internal leak, but also twitch probably wasnt pushed to change their systems when they got purchased as it mightve caused a lot of visible changes on the front end which wouldve disgruntled people over the purchase.

@@sab3re ik about the flag, they had it easier there cause a flag pole is much more unique than standardized housing and they knew the general location of it
There's a good way to have different passwords in every site without using a password handling app or writting them all down somewhere. All you need to do is remember one formula which with you make your passwords... the formula has to include the site's name in some way like some of its characters or their letter count, and also a good idea is to include your age in some way so all your passwords change every years. So, all you need to remember is your formula, your algorythm... the one password that all others are decided with, and you make it in a way that is easy enough for you to calculate, if you're good at math add complicated operations, if you are not then add simple ones, and mix symbols and a catchphrase.
I used to work in Billing and Metrics in AWS. A lot of things still run things kind of manually, so security breaches could likely happen there.
Yo Muta the tweet you made about this earlier left the Magnet Torrent link in the screenshot as well.
crazy how twitch got bent over like this lmao
Btw the cash amounts earned by streamers is lower than the real numbers. So everyone actually got more money then it shows on the leak (as it doesn't account for donations and possible twitch partnerships or brand deals)
I know for a fact that Amazon networks for their fulfilment centers and other warehouses have been hacked and employees have had sensitive information stolen including half of the employees at one building having their bank accounts drained so at this point network security breaches are par for the course with amazon.
Honestly doubting twitch will do much bout this, feelsbadman
they should shut down lol
My favorite part about the leak was going to twitter and seeing everyone say jerma earned it
A psycho's a psycho, no matter how loaded
the british "a little bit of trolling" made my day
Thank you! I was also wondering why ppl are shocked about payouts. Smh. Ppl can't do math apparently.
You forget to blur the tv
“An extremely poggers leak” lmao. Twitch really got hacked by the most intellectually bereft dumpster fire on the internet
Is the idea of satire and sarcasm really lost on you people? And you call others intellectually bereft?
How can they be intellectually bereft if they assraped one of the biggest streaming platforms on the internet?
Are you ignoring how people spam pog and poggers on twitch streams. How could you miss such an obvious joke.
I replayed Muta's British accent twice.
funny that I literally changed my twitch password like one hour before watching, for no reason at all
It's a good thing I haven't used Twitch in over 3 years now. Still, better safe than sorry.
Did you ever enter debit card details?
@@GameGod77 Nope.
The thing that gets me is when you see how much people like asmongold make...and then realize that twitch takes 50-75% of subs fee....How much is amazon really making?
Also: what gfuel you suggest goes well with coffee?
they dont take that much. all the big streamers have deals that gives them 3.5 out of the 5.
1. It's hashing, not encryption. Hashes aren't reversible.
2. Hashed passwords aren't necessarily salted. Salt is just throwing in some publicly identifiable information. Edit: It's used to prevent rainbow table attacks.

My friend is an expert at coding, he’s just going around into the file’s showing me everything XD
I'm just hoping a good, free speech competitor to Twitch comes out in light of this.
@@Wired_User Nice bait
@@Wired_User free speech on the internet is never a good idea. _What_
@@innocuous373 entirely plausible but the account is really old and their previous posts don't elude to it being bait.
@@joeysaim8654 I think he phrased what he meant poorly. Technically no country in the world has complete "freedom of speech". Even in America, you can't go into a movie theatre and yell "fire!" for the fun of it. There are some things that you just can't say. Things like child pornography and doxing people are banned on platforms because they have to be. For the most part yes, all platforms should have freedom of speech. But certain things have to be restricted, because if they weren't it could get very out of hand very quickly. The only question is where do you draw the line between what is and is not allowed?
@@Tommy50377 exactly. Edited my previous comment to clarify.
Twitch: *has it’s information leaked*
VTubers on Twitch: *chuckles* “I’m in danger!”
dude if people does this shit, man, all my fav Vtubers probably gonna get threatened or something
Oh no, I remember Pekora made an account in twitch and started a debut there not long ago
Wait nvm, someone already leaked some of her personal info long ago, not surprised anymore, not sure if people should be concerned if she used a business account (assuming it's on behalf of cover corp) to register on twitch and still get her personal info exposed again
Twitch Hot Tub streams alone are doing more to the World Economy than Microsoft
@Lotus ugly bot reported readers of this should do same
@@Beetless go to their channel to report that. if you report the comment, it wont ban them, just the comment.
@@deathtopigeons9378 many times bots are made with links to innocent ppl to get banned by haters tho
When automation hits hard... and something like a Universal Income gets eventually made... I wonder if the world will turn to a Entertainment - Subscription based Economic system... that sounds pretty weird but it actually doesn't...
This comment is so out of context
Haven't kept up with your channel as I'd like, but when I heard about this and didn't fully understand the extent of it, I knew where to go, and went straight here.
