I really like the Hoptic 2 round quiver on this rifle. It gives you a couple of extra rounds but still keeps the whole package light and snag free. I am a little bit old school and just slipped by leather cartridge cuff over the buttstock. It gives me 6 extra rounds and raises my check just slightly so I have perfect sight alignment for my Holosun.
Just an odd idea: could you mount TWO Hoptic quivers? Like one on each side? I don't know if that would dig into your cheek but it would be extra ammunition in a pinch.
I carry loose rounds in my right side pocket of my rugged vest jacket with open wide pockets easy to reach and reload till I get mounts). Angle of these pockets is set so they won't fall out under normal circumstances. Thanks for video. Also you can run a sling through them as well
I'm kind of thinking you might be able to use another Hoptic quiver on the opposite side of the rifle but might have to run it the opposite way. Would be interested if that would work and whether you would still have clearance to pull the rounds out.
@@buildhuntxploreinitially designed it because I was broke, but it's satisfying to see that functionally speaking the RPP stock would barely be a sidegrade for me, I didn't expect that did put the RPP handguard on it, tho
you should do a review on the new magpul marlin 1895 stock/forend set... i put a set on my trapper and the stock on my marlin dark... i love the internal shell storage... would love to see you do a review video
Im really not sure with the Marlin Dark's new Buttstock. If im gonna get the new Marlin 1895 Dark. I want to have a "Ranger Point Precision" Stock installed. If possible.
Do you think that the 1894 Dark pistol calibers will be able to tolerate a straight 6 rnd quiver? Pls test that if you are able to in one of your vids, great content, subscribed!
Bought one of these about 3 months ago. First 6 shots it sheared the handguard Trunion off. Sent back to ruger/marlin to fix. Got it back today threw my asr brake on it and 46m and shot it 12 times and now the action is locked up can't even force it open. Back to ruger it goes I guess. I love this damn rifle but it's starting to piss me off lol
Another reason to not hang all this stuff on a Marlin, Amigo. I make my own leather, and want a butt cuff that will hold a full reload of the carbine, thanks. You can hang those@two-shot things on that fore-end, though....
The marlin is one hot piece of metal, but for what they are charging, I can buy an older model and have it sent to mad pig customs, or a Henry and really tac it out
Looks like it was an excuse to gut the stock material (i.e. cost) knowing full well that many buyers will toss them in the trash and spend 1/3 the price of the rifle on a different aftermarket option.
I just think you’re very reluctant to say anything bad about the new Dark. That recessed section of the butt stock is a design flaw. The solutions you are presenting are makeshift, and very clunky and un user friendly at best. It’s a poorly designed but stock in an otherwise good package. Just call it out for what it is.
You obviously don't watch my channel regularly. I say what I think. I pointed out the shell holder could be problematic, depending on the situation. I have used it for a while in testing. However, I have not had this rifle long, and only done a round of function testing (6 shots). I will be heading out later this week or first of next week to begin my testing. I will not make negative claims until I have a full grasp of the rifle and how it handles, how it's features do or don't do, and what the overall package has to offer. Making rash statements and being controversial is not who I am.
Have you tried one? I was skeptical. Then I got my hands one my first tactical lever gun a couple years ago. Been in love with them ever since. Its human nature to question change. I get that. From personal experience this particular gun feels amazing. 😁 Terry
It’s actually very comfortable. I hear this kind of statement quite often, usually by people who can’t afford one and they are trying to justify why they “don’t want it”
@@jtbanner7220 Sharp edges vs a smooth grip. Butt stock is fine, I find the front grip too thick & aggressive, & not overly ergonomic... those who like military ergos will be completely satisfied.

Yeah it works really well for the spot. Totally understand going leather. I’ve considered doing the same lol. Love my Mason Leather when I can use it.
Which Holosun optic are you using?

I use the standard drop a bunch of rounds in my pocket quiver

Can you just swap it for the standard grey colored one? I think that would be so much cooler. It’s either that or get a cool milled wood insert.
Which rifle is on the top left of the wall rack behind you? Can’t find a video about it on your channel, thanks
Does not seem optimal to have to pull them in that direction. Someone will come up with a spacer to use the normal vertical ones or an angled quiver.
I'm sure someone will definitely do a spacer, probably pretty quickly.
makes me proud of my personally designed buttpad/riser bullet sleeve, sleekly 3d printed and fits 2 sets of 4 rounds angled diagnally forwards
Always nice making your own stuff 👍

Would the hoptic quiver work well with the cheek riser included with the rifle?
Yep
Do you think its possible to squeeze 2x of the midway holders on one of the dark series stocks?
I'd just change it to a Chisel Machining stock anyway. If I can get my hands on one.
They'll eventually get into the general market. Things just have to settle out some 👍
Could you please make a video installing a stainless steel follower on the dark series? (Handguard is different than trapper). Thanks!
Hi, enjoy all your videos! Can you tell if that stock would fit on an SBL? Thanks!
Thank you! Yep, should fit just fine 👍

well, so, before this new stock you could set on 5 rounds, now only two? If use this accessory. Great invention!!
You could run a Diamond D Leather ammo holder I guess...but it would seem like a crime to put that premium leather over that polymer
Oh absolutely lol.
Can you try the 2x4 quiver from Hoptic?
Will try it out later today and get back with you
Interested in it as well

Just ordered me one of those 45-70 dark series today
How about a protein bar adapter
Doesn’t one of the companies make a 2 shot quiver where the quiver kicks the back of the cartridge out a few degrees from parallel to the stock?
Hoptic makes a double adapter that holds two doubles. Trying it later today.
When are they going to mass produce this series? I want one but not for $2500 of Gunbroker...😢

Yeah everyone has their preferences. That’s the great thing, we can all set it up how we prefer 👍
I wish I saw this before I got my RP 5 round holder only to realize it’s not possible to use it on the buttstock😢
Is there any way to shorten the butt stock?
No, it’s a set length of pull.

Hard to say
Crayon pouch
"very useful"... 2 cartridges lol. With how awkward they are to remove might as well just have them loose in your pocket.
