I was not born in Laos, and I can never fully grasp the struggles my parents and those before endured. It is great pleasure to listen to this song because the lyrics paints a vivid image of a story as you listen. Through his voice and passion in singing, it takes me to a forgotten but famillar place my parents always tell me about. This song puts me in a scenery of me standing on a luscious green hill; overlooking a small village on a early morning with careless children playing outside with their hand woven clothes that are stitch from the wrinkle hands of their grandmas. It is nostaglic song; allowing us to deeply feel and see through his lens of the place he once called home. The lyrics are so powerful because although you're not there physically, it takes you there spiritually. This is important for us all, because this allow us all to realize our roots and appreciate our identity, our culture, and where we came from.

My mom passed away 😢 this song bring back so much memories when we first came to United States in the 80's. Mom I know that you are in heaven with your parents and my sister and two brothers that passed away in Laos. They didn't make it to the America. Now it's your chance to be a mom for them in heaven. Maybe we meet eachother one day but now I'm a mom just like you. I will love my kids just how you loved us.
Hi Erra...you can still sing this song in hmong. The saddest thing is our next generation 90% will no longer speak hmong nor hold hmong traditional. A white wash Indeed to happen. We no longer have hmong refugees coming anymore.
This was seriously the most beautiful thing I've heard this whole year... growing up we were so poor but our family was all we had... now my parents are divorced and I haven't seen my dad in so long.. and if I can go back I would choose to be poor again in the same exact apartment because then my dad we would still be together 💔💔❤️❤️❤️❤️😢😢😢 thank you so much
Sister I know how you feel people are more strong and love each other more when we are poor and have nothing. Whe experienced more and wealth we care more on our money and not family no more..I see family broken apart when they become more richer that's why so many hmong couples are divorced now days..

This song is so powerful! My dad passed away 3 yrs ago. This song makes me hope that my dad went back to the picture you painted at the beginning of the song... to a simpler time. Awsome song!
I agree, same for me...both of my parents have passed away and this song make me think of them and their lives. Every time I listen to it, it’s bittersweet.
i’m not hmong but this song made me realize about how we shouldn’t take anything for granted and we should always cherish all we have before we lose it someday.
This song takes me back to my childhood in the refugee camp in Thailand. Bitter and sweet moments when we as the minority faced so many intricate situation with the Thai people in the camp. We were treated like animals and we never allowed to get out of the camp but stayed within the camp. Young girls was raped by Thai security or police yet we couldn't do anything but keep it to ourselves. I get emotional while listening to this song and it hurts me so much. Torn my heart into pieces. Thank you Lord, for giving us the opportunity to be here in this country to better ourselves. A land full of great opportunities and we can chase after our dream and do whatever makes us feel comfortable like home.
Wittaya Lee123 Thank you! Yes I am very fortunate enough to be here in the United States. Without the United Nation my family and I wouldn’t be here. My experience in Thailand wasn’t a pleasant one but it is more like a prisoner because we as Hmong in the camp we had no right or no privilege like the Thai people. Every time I think bout it I hate Thai people so much. I hate them for the shit they put us through and the respect we didn’t get from them. They treated us like animal.

I was never born back in Thailand but omg listening to this song, it really touches my heart. I was born and grew up in America but during my childhood, I was mainly raised by my grandma, and she kept everything going as if she still lived in Thailand. Makes me miss the old memories! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you guys for performing such an amazing and inspiring song!
You should go and visit relative in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam or even China, but make sure to visit those in village setting so you can see the thatched house of elephant grass (nqeeb) and fan palm (kuj yem).
One of the best song, so much emotions, even for a Hmong boy borne here in the United States. Having visited the old country and the villages, this song hits straight at the heart. Thank you for such a great and beautiful song. Proud to be Hmong hearing this song.
His lyrics are so great it touches the soul deeply. if you close your eyes and use your imagination as he sings his lyrics man a peaceful cheerful village life how nice would that be.
IAmMengy same here. I went to Thailand two months after my dad passed away and while in Thailand I heard this song. It made me miss him soooo much...cried for three hours. It was my dad’s dream to go back to Thailand and Laos to see his home. Unfortunately he missed that chance and I will forever regret it for not taking him when he was still alive and well.
This song has me tearing up 😢😭. Missing my childhood in the Thailand refugee camp. Always playing in the rain. Making dolls out of mud. Eating rice with water while watching the rain. Everything changed so dramatically.
I'm a 2nd generation and this song takes me wayyyyyyy back to my mom and dad's day in the jungle of Laos and serene life they had before the war. Thanks for this beautiful song Fishermen and Xf. Txawj Pes! Remember God and continue his work!
This song hits hard!!!! Thinking back how my family grow up in Thailand with nothing, a family of 14, 8 kids n a small piece of meat 4inchs can feed the whole family, now we in the land of freedom and is a totally diff story!!!! Rice with water and a pepper is a true Hmong special dish!!!!!
I love this song, I want to go visit Laos one day, my parents told me stories of the old country , us Hmoob have lived a privilege life in in the States, bless you XF
Life was so simple when we didn’t have anything. My parents struggled but we were a family. Money and mistresses torn us apart and eventually my mom gave up. Years has it been since they both passed away and this song brings back so much memories 😢 sometimes I drive back to our old house and reminisce of the good old days when mom and dad were still together, back when we were still a family
Such a touching song. The mess up at the end, made me laugh out loud. As a kid growing up, you always thought, "I can't wait to grow up and be an adult so I can have my independence and live my life." Once high school is done and over with, time just flies...
I love Hmong christian song. This song bring me tears, it remind me when we were in Thailand when we were in refugee Camp at the end of the seventies... so when our parents lost everything in Laos at the end of the secret war. we didn t have that much to eat, we lost family, we lost friends because of malnutrition and sickness back then when escaping Laos... some moved to France, USA, Australia, french... Guyana... now some us 4000 sqft home or even over, some became millionaire, doctor , lawyers... but when we think about old times it still me sad and make me realize how lucky our generation and future hmong generation are... because there is hope, and there is someone who look after us hmong from Heaven...
There's so many great things about this song: the lyrics, the music, the voice, and the amount of unity from our hmong community alone making this song hit 5.6 MILLION views. Normally it takes an American artist to reach just a million views from the support of all races, but our community hits different and thats called LOVE. This is why I love our community, the amount of support and sincerity we pull❤❤❤ I just pray that my generation (gen z) keeps the love our elders and parents modeled because there's so much negativity nowadays. May we remember and keep our culture, language, history and roots within us.
Great lyrics, emotion and range. I was just 6 when we fled Laos, but my childhood memories of our village have been seared into my mind. I remember them as if the memories were from yesterday. As an American Soldier and more specifically Iraq and Afghanistan combat veteran, I have seen many times over how war tears families apart and uproot them from their homes flinging them around the world. My childhood experience in Laos during wartime really helped me empathize with the people of the Middle East and S.W. Asia. How they must also miss their homes....even if they were no more than just tents in the desert. God bless you for such a heartfelt song evoking powerful memories of young and old alike....all of us yearning for our roots.

Even if I was born in USA. This makes me feel warm as I could imagine my parents lives back in the old days. How sad but happy they were enjoying their old days
I cry everytime when I listen to this song. It reminds me so much of my grandpa. You all did an amazing job, Xf. Txawj Pes Vaj and the Fishermen' Project. The lyrics deeply touched me. ❤
I was born in Thailand and remember my old house made of bamboo. I love this song, reminds me of the hardships my parents went through. I wish to go back one day to visit.
Today, I heard this song from watching the FHNY...came to search for it and just can't hold back my tears listening to lyrics. Miss my grandparents, still remember how life was like in Thailand, we were so poor. I still remember picking up fruits on the ground from fruit vendors while I was a young child. 😢 We came so far....
Out of a few hmong songs I bump, this is the only track my 18 month old child loves to sit and listen to. Thanks for sharing and nice collab btw. God up top.
hmongster84 my 16 month old son loves this song too. Gets his attention every time the song comes on. I joke with my wife that it probably makes him think of his past life in Laos. 😅
Brother I can’t stop listening to your song. It’s really touch my heart bad and I even tears silently. Every time I listen, it reminds me lot of things in our poor but happy life decades ago. Thanks for the wonderful song!!!
Brother we hmong seems to love each others more when we are poor and need each others arms to help now we are rich and care only to those that can help us back only...
In America we grew up poor and it cant compared to how poor it was the jungles of Laos. But ironically the heart longs to go back! The Lord has truly blessed our people. This is how Jesus must have felt being on Earth.
Whoever dislike this song is not a human being. God bless pastor txawj pes and his family. Thanks for making this sad beautiful lovely song. The first verse brought tears to my eyes and penetrated through my heart deeply.
This song makes me miss my dad so much. Growing up, my dad told my siblings and I many stories of his childhood and how much he misses his homeland. He always said that he wants to go back and see Laos and almost did, until 2 years ago when my dad had a stroke. My dad is currently fighting the stroke and is recovering in a Rehab center. And every time we visit my dad, he would always point for our phones to open UA-cam and show him videos of Hmong villages in Laos. And every time he sees the videos of Laos, he would cry because he misses his homeland. This song is beautiful. I hope to hear more songs like this❤️
I was literally balling my eyes out, this song reminded me of my old days back when my family and I still live in Thailand. Though we didn’t have much but we were so happy. I was one happy child
I wasn’t born there, but I can’t imagine the pain, the longing, the feeling they miss so much being so free to live without all these electronics and hate in America. I miss the freedom of of being a kid in the projects, but this song make me sad for them as if I lived there.
To be born a hmong American and having the opportunity to visit Laos with my grandfather. These lyrics hit the heart and soul. Rip for those lives lost during the war. May times be simple again.
Being born in the late 80 time had changed so much... My father is gone with God, and this song brings so much memories, perhaps too much childhood memories. *cries*

Some of my favorite songs of life and my wayward journey with Christ are by Xf. Txawj Pes Vaj. What a gem! Thov kom Vajtswv pub peb tau hnov Nws tus tub cov nkauj no mus kom txog hnub peb tau nyob ua ib ke saum ntuj Ceeb Tsheej. But “Kwvtij Hmoob” song is my most nostalgic of the Hmong experience.
Even if I was born in USA. This makes me feel warm as I could imagine my parents lives back in the old days. How sad but happy they were enjoying their old days
I was born in U.S and this song makes me want to walk the places my parents have walked, to see what parents have seen. One day...
XF Txawj Pes hu tau zoo heev, cov ntsiab lus rau zoo li lub neej thaum peb niam peb txiv lawv nyob teb chaws Los Tsuas.
I cry everytime when I listen to this song. It reminds me so much of my grandpa. You all did an amazing job, Xf. Txawj Pes Vaj and the Fishermen' Project. The lyrics deeply touched me. ❤

I’m missing my grandpa too. We have my cousin sang this at his funeral..... the life they used to live.... we’ll never know
I was born in Thailand and remember my old house made of bamboo.
I love this song, reminds me of the hardships my parents went through.
I wish to go back one day to visit.
When listen to this song I can see the picture alone with every words.

Beautiful, Pastor. This song brought tears to my eyes. Remembering my family’s early beginning in America. We’ve all come a long way. Praise, God.
Today, I heard this song from watching the FHNY...came to search for it
and just can't hold back my tears listening to lyrics. Miss my
grandparents, still remember how life was like in Thailand, we were so
poor. I still remember picking up fruits on the ground from fruit
vendors while I was a young child. 😢 We came so far....
Congrats on 1 million views. Love this song. great lyrics.
those of us living in lub tsev vom nqees, we love the peaceful life in the countryside.......................those old days will always be missed
It's a privilege to be born in Thailand, I matured up fast and didn't take things for granted like some America-born kids.
This song touches my heart so much. Makes me miss my dad for no reason.
Because you love him.
Tsawm tias tsi tau yug los lub neej tau zoo li lwm haiv neeg vam meej los kuv zoo siab tau yug los ua kuv hiav neeg hmoob
I'm proud of Hmong. We've come a long long way, hlub.
Whoever dislike this song is not a human being. God bless pastor txawj pes and his family. Thanks for making this sad beautiful lovely song. The first verse brought tears to my eyes and penetrated through my heart deeply.
This song bring back to lot of memories back in Thailand ❤️😔😭 and everything about Thailand in the mountains ❤️
👏👏👏🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭
This song makes me miss my dad so much. Growing up, my dad told my siblings and I many stories of his childhood and how much he misses his homeland. He always said that he wants to go back and see Laos and almost did, until 2 years ago when my dad had a stroke. My dad is currently fighting the stroke and is recovering in a Rehab center. And every time we visit my dad, he would always point for our phones to open UA-cam and show him videos of Hmong villages in Laos. And every time he sees the videos of Laos, he would cry because he misses his homeland. This song is beautiful. I hope to hear more songs like this❤️
This song bring me back alot of memories when I was a kid living in Thailand. Good song. Bring me to tears.

I'm a big country fan and I'm so glad to hear a Hmong country song like this. It hits the soul.
Is this a Hmong country song? 😂
To be born a hmong American and having the opportunity to visit Laos with my grandfather. These lyrics hit the heart and soul. Rip for those lives lost during the war. May times be simple again.
This song makes me heart feel so heavy. 😭 such a beautiful song. ❤️
Being born in the late 80 time had changed so much... My father is gone with God, and this song brings so much memories, perhaps too much childhood memories. *cries*
Such a beautiful song... words cannot describe the feelings this music engraves into the soul
2023 still listen and will listen last forever...
