Performance Marching Band - Grade 4
A consistent favorite with bands and drum corps, here is the classic from Earth, Wind & Fire in an exciting and powerful arrangement. Lots of variety and drive!

This brought memories of my freshmen year in marching band. We would play this song and play like no one was listening and having the most fun
I’m playing it my freshman year this year

Me too
Anyone else playing this in marching band?
We are doing it for our homecoming show, and honestly, it's pretty hard for me. :/ :(
MTHS?
Schs
Thanks, but I meant it to be directed towards Pickles McJoe because we too got this song yesterday (suspiciously 22 hours ago) and are playing it for our Homecoming show.
Saint Cloud hs?
I was twerking throughout this whole song and that's never cap
Coleman periodtttt this song hit different🥴
Zoomer moment
You completely ignored the epic drum part in the intro.
Ryan Thorpe THANK YOU!!!
My band took like a million trys to get it right but when it got done it is uber satisfying
(Trumpet btw)
Listen to Beavercreek Ohio high school marching band 2018. This is the intro of their show and it sounds really good
This sounds really fun to play I wish my band was at that level
Alexis The Random Eaton it is
No worries
Its not about level but dedication
Kevin 504 true it’s about dedication it’s also about focus
Was listening to this and mentally following along with the QUADS part having been a drummer in marching band! Man... Those were the good times and this is classic masterpiece!!!
Playing this on drum line this year
Same
I've been looking for this for a while. Thank you! It really helps, and for clarinet sectionals tomorrow, I'll try to play this.
The main thing our conductor keeps saying as we rehearse this is: "shorter! Sharper! Staccatissimo!!" And so when I listen to this all I'm thinking is: "How DARE they play those notes so long and soft and legato!"
First trombones?
Kevin 504 how about second trombone gang
@@dr.davoof1420 im third trombone gang );
I'm being forced to play the trombone part, as a euphonium player :'( I never get to play my own part
@@LaurenEpsom riiiiip
Playing this for my marching band's field show this year along with After The Love Is Gone and Getaway/September!! I'm a sousaphone and the bassline is incredibly fun to play, especially at 17-41! :)
here in the Philippines theres something called Drum and Lyre Corps, we use a lyre which is basically similar to a glockenspiel to make sound, but I'm planning on converting this into lyre chords/notes
No way, the marching band I’m in is doing the same thing!
Why is it that my school is going to play this and Hal Leonard just posted it
Idk but it is awesome
ok
I love the flute and clarinet part in the middle.
1:25
My band plays this, but the trumpets have the melody the whole time.
Duh
That's no fun!
No they don't, only at 0:53 and 1:17, the rest of the trumpet part is just coutermelody
Plus it's marching band so what else would you expect anyway
There are quite a few melodies going on at once
1st trumpet at the end makes me want to die
When I was listening this master piece a popo from a bird felt over my pants. Jajaja that's means good luck man! Jajaja
My marching band played this too! I loved this feature!
I loved this part in drumline
USC!!! I remember hearing this at USC during a high school music department spring trip to LA, MAN I miss LA!!!!!!!!!!!!
I been bugging my director for 2 months literly 5 times a day for this song
Did It work? Have you played this?
I LOVE THIS SONG
Just found out! Gonna play this song for marching band this year! Watch out Columbus Day Parade, here we come!
I played this song my sophomore year in High School with my band on trombone, slightly different arrangement though.

Geeked to be playing this in marching band, loved it on Drunline
What do you play in drumline
This is what my band is playing!!
Same
I'm playing this at the parade in my town this fall. Can't wait for it.
Why is "Xylophone" spelled wrong on the first page of the score? That's embarrassing lmao
Ugh i hate covid. This is a good song, don't get me wrong, but we were gonna have our own show before Corona virus came by and said "Buenos dias, show!" And smacked it right on the booty, replacing it with a simpler show which is good, but not quite the same.
Oh yeah, something something clarinet 1 relatable memes 1 like 1 prayer etc.
Woonderfuul!!!
ITS MARCHING SEASON
This isn’t the arrangement we played at NMU hockey games. I still have that memorized 40 freaking years later.
Anyone know if there’s a concert band one for this.
Doing this song in concert mode with the band
Lord save me. I need to memorize this haha
Nah, you get the privilege of memorizing it.
Sheorajek. Hahahaha I agree with you. It was intimidating at first since it was my first time playing 😂
We did this peace, but only the beginning of it, then it went in to a bass drum split roll and it went in to faces. Feel free to check it out 'belmont marching band 04' I'm sure you'll all like
Why am I now seeing this? Come on UA-cam recommended algorithm!!
Bridgemen 1980 Classic
there's an arrangement that has "in the stone" and it goes in to" faces (phases"). I luv that arrangement way too much. this ones pretty koo also! also there's a song called "Jupiter" from "earth wind and fire" that goes in to "in the stone" and it rocks out loud!
これは素晴らしい。
Go tenor sax, the melody is so much fun to play!
Played this my first year of marching band, freshman year of college. Good memories!!
This is a part of our show this year😄

No bass clarinet or bari sax? Guess I can't play it...
PourLaScience those parts are usually included in the set but not written on the score because it's the basically the same as the tuba part

Hopefully this goes well
Michael Sweeny is better!!!!
Dude the Micheal Sweeney arrangement is so watered down it's not even good
This is the same arrangement that was played on Drumline. *Fun fact*
No, it is not because Drumline came out in 2002, and this arrangement was made in 2004.
And if I'm not mistaken, there is 16 bars missing of the intro.
Wrong... There are no intro in this one , this is more like the original, just for marching band :)
Also the melody at 1:26 is played by the flutes, but in Drumline it was played by low brass
It's the thing before 45

We played this in High School. This version is the simplified version. We were at a significantly faster tempo too. This is a LOT simpler to play.
what's tempo of this song
+zada covers It literally says POWERFULLY - 116
It pays to be observant sometimes.
+Tmasta one haha
it sounds good
Second trombones?
I wish that the 1st trumpet took the C#, D, D#,E fun part and took it up an octave
I don't
+Freddy210hill are you a trumpet player?
+Bobby Feller no. but ur mom is
+Freddy210hill so many better disses and all you know are the 6th grade ones. So sad
You right 😄

@@spambreeder1001 thats what i thought
