It's so easy to fall in a trap and just jump between cyberpsyho gigs without reading the background story and miss all of those details. Thanks for exposing them!
I did that on my first play through. Then I found out about the back story’s. My second time around I started paying attention to these little details in really fell in love with the game
The cyberpsycho girl with the stilt legs that bathed in blood was probably the creepiest and most unsettling mission in that category to me. It was very different, almost spiritual in theme, as opposed to it having to do with technology. Makes me think she was overtaken by a rogue AI with a peculiar personality.
The lore behind that one was interesting. Maelstrom apparently have an occult sect that believe it's possible to conjure a non-human consciousness into a human offering with the right amount of cyberware.
@@Cyromantik oooo that’s freaky, but it makes sense. Maelstrom could be onto something. Cyberware is the in-between for AI and humans. The more cybernetic a person is, the more likely they are to get “possessed” by a rogue AI. It’s like technological spiritism.
You can skip time in 1.6 if you restart and re-enter the place so you can change time and play at daytime. I wouldn't play that creepy shit at night LOL
@@monelmonelmonel every time I did this one it was during the day … but I would’ve needed a change of underwear if I was forced to play it at night LOL
The first time I did the Seaside Cafe Cyberpsycho, it was night with streaming rain. I took out Dao, down in the cafe it was a complete bloodbath, her sister's there too and the story got worse and worse. The radio was blasting "I'll watch you fall down, I'll drag you face down, everything burns", and I thought, this city is fucked.
You got a similar one with Rinder to the tragedy of the gig, back against the wall, I won't spoil it but it's one of those cases where the villain is just another victim whose story hasn't been told yet.
I like the idea that the “10th circle of hell” is the old net beyond the black wall, with “daemons” roaming it also I remember someone in game describes the old net after Rache Bartmoss crashed it as “Hell”
8:21 If you just look around with your scanner, you can also see a digital apparition of Zaria looming around the area. If she stays in your field of vision for too long, she blinks to another spot outside your line of sight until you find her new spot and stare at her again. It’s creepy as hell.
Dont need to use your scanner, you see her "apparition" regardless. I think the idea is that she's messing with your Kiroshis. EDIT: At 11:36 in the top left corner of the video. She's just chilling there on the perch, then vanishes when your optics glitch out. Creepy as hell. Funny that right after that Sam says "we can't actually see her yet". Yes we can, mate. Yes💀We💀Can💀
Hey another thing about bloody ritual during the investigation phase a couple of spots you will get a small visual glitch and can see someone, looks different than the psycho, if you try to scan them or look too long they vanish. It really sparked my interest the first time I did the gig but I just found out if you back out of the fight area then go back in you can get a pretty good look at them setting on the crate with the quest marker then the fight starts back up again. Not sure if it’s supposed to be the ai watching you or the runner but really creepy non the less
My favorite was probably Letter of the Law. I really connected with the story of a guy who tried really hard to do the right thing and forge a useful business, only to get railroaded by larger forces, and ultimately going out Killdozer style. Since I was a netrunner and have a habit of entering hostile areas very slowly and observantly, all his mines weren't really a problem. I even went ahead and friendly-moded a bunch of them on one side of his shop, and once I aggro'd him, they did a decent chunk of my work for me. It also happened to be the first time I was testing out the Bullet Deflect perk, which was just impossibly cool.
I love the Lt. Mower character, as it’s not just the location and use of optical camo which is a reference to (my favourite anime) Ghost in the Shell, but her name is a reference & play on Major Kusanagi. As Lieutenant Major and also Kusanagi is Japanese for “grass mower” so her name of Lt. Mower is literally Major Kusanagi. Tbh, (I know this isn’t an Easter egg video, but) there’s quite a few references to Ghost in the Shell, other than just this cyberpsycho encounter in Cyberpunk 2077… an obvious one is the Yaiba Kusanagi bike but you can also find the Individual Eleven logo on some computer monitors across the map. And I believe there’s an achievement which is a reference too… “Daemon in the Shell”
Judy has a tattoo that has a cartoony little ghost standing in an open clam's shell.... And on the topic of clam shells, V's initial apartment has 3 sea shells next to the toilet. Not a GitS reference, but Demolition Man is still a fun Sci-Fi to reference. :)
If you completed Garry the Prophet questline before Bloody Ritual, V would be mentioning about techno-necromancer in her message to Regina. Saying something like, "Techno-necromancer, no doubt." Nice little detail....
The fact we see a Maxtac ex Cyber Psycho made me feel of how we killed all the others way more ominous. So they can be saved but it's easier to just down them? Gotta love how they give you the option to not kill them. Great work!
I think Norio's cyberpsycho quest might be a bit of a reference to cowboy bebop. One of the main characters left a gang with a girl named Julia with said character having to fight the gang when they kill her.
Thank you for assembling the pieces of this intricate mosaic. The quest designers clearly put a lot of thought into these interwoven storylines yet the connections aren't always apparent to the player - at least without an exceptional memory for detail.
Excellent storytelling. The effort of a backstory in all of these quests is commendable, but as Sam Bram has obviously taken hours to piece together, is almost lost to many who (like me) are focused only on the main storyline. So, this is much appreciated. ...and I think it's your British accent that makes me love it even more.
Bloody Ritual has to be my favourite of the cyberpsycho gigs. The horror vibes, the lore implications, the mystery, the atmosphere, it’s all top notch. I love it.
The one that was sleeping in the ice all creepy-like, I remember the game glitching after defeating her and the creepy whispering sound would not go away! lol Damn near wanted to throw my headset out the window after trying to go 5-10 minutes of gameplay after that. xD
Same 🤣 I was playing at night (IRL and in game) too, and a little sleep-deprived, so it really messed with me. Started to wonder if my Gramma was right and these vidya games really do have the Devil in 'em.
600hrs I've spent in the game, and still you surprise me with so many connection between all the events in night city that I've missed. gonna appreciate all these even more on my 8th playthrough, thx :)
I remember the mech ones and the two lovers very clearly in comparison to every other one. The mechs are just fun fights to me. The samurai dude surprised me with the flashbang and again when we ran into the group. Trying to keep him alive was surprisingly difficult. His girlfriend through me off due to the turrets. Last thing I expected at a homeless camp was two turrets melting me.
Its been a long time since I’ve anticipated a UA-camr uploading and I’m glad to have this feeling again with your channel. I love the cp2077 lore videos
Glad you enjoy them Choom. There's so much lore in this game with all the reading material everywhere (and of course surrounding media which came before)
The solo trying to open the gateway for Voodoo gods is probably a reference to the later Sprawl books "Count Zero" and "Mona Lisa Overdrive", where AIs took on the personas of Voodoo gods in order so speak to runners or cowboys, as they are called.
I encountered Gaston early in my playthrough and was thankfully a net runner. He could one shot me so I hacked all mines to friendly lured him through them and hit him with a car, leaving him at 1%
I never have the patience to do all the legwork to link the different threads together, so I love your videos that explain how so many gigs and encounters fit together into the overall story. You're doing a service not only to the players, but a service to CDPR themselves as you're shining a light on all the hard work they put into making the world interconnected.
I found The Drowned Man in a melee, no-vehicle run I did, skipping right into the cyberpsycho deck. And it was the first time that I went "huh, there are unmarked, unrelated events in the game, I wonder how many" and only then did I find out about the 190 hidden gems in the game. This is such a dense game. I've "only" sunk ~200 hours into it, but very few of those hours were spent in repetitive tasks.
The cyberpsycho gigs easily are my favorites in the game despite having blown thru them rather quick It was fun taking them down but sadly never really paid much attention to the backstories and such Glad this channel does for 2077 what those like Nate do for Skyrim, RSG for Horizon or Ox for Fallout. Lore channels like this are always top tier in gaming ♡♡ (yes this channel is more than just lore but ya know what i mean XD
Been watching all of your cyberpunk videos! You have some of the best content and a bunch of information and description towards what your showing us, love the in depth’s reviews! Thank you sir! 🙏🏻
I've never found her to be much of a challenge to take alive. It annoys me Regina never mentions collecting the unfortunate Mox for her study in the outcome of the encounter, considering she calls to assign it.
Cyberpsycho gigs are the only ones i read the shards through and through, because its relatively short and most of the time theyre just unfortunate people who got the worst end of things and makes you dont want to kill them even more Plus its like a mini bossfight to get you used to your build for the eventual smasher fight
Hey, you an amazing Narrator and I would love for you to make a video about all the endings and explain each one. If you have already then YT search has failed me. Thx.
With the malestorm ritual, there's that announcement in the city about 'suspecting rogue AI activity' too and we never get a gig or side quest about it. We only see Alt, or what ever uses her form to communicate, and that's it I think. Whether or not an AI is what is changing the Peralez couple idk still. Something like the movie Chappie would be a cool side quest where we go to the edge of the city and get him over the boarder in some car chase gun fight so they can be free in a different area of the NUSA.
So Bloody ritual may be tier to the homeless guy quest who was talking about how the corp use the kyoshi optics to spy on people and that they’re “vampires”.
I’m pretty sure the line in House on a Hill is a reference to the movie Independence Day. A character named Russel says something similar before he dies
about zaria, when I was playing she appeared as a phantom in various places in that area. disappeared right away and i felt like i was seeing stuff. creepy stuff
diego was one of the creepiest fights for me at the time, I went to the pier at night and the pier was foggy, nothing else, just the pier, so walking along the trail of corpses not paying attention to what was going on story wise was creepy af in my eyes
those eerie heavy breathing sounds terrifies me first time i did bloody ritual quest. it's truly disturbing the first time with you clueless of what about to pop out. good thing Johnny is there.
For the guy in the badlands that did a gig for the vdbs, I personally thought it was connected to the vdb in pacifica that went psycho after he tried to fried a merc working for him, the merc survived and then netwatch found him
id like to think everyone has a different thing to get them back from going cyberpsycho like love would work for them or help maybe but not for others clearly cause people have killed loved ones and what not. helps me think that there can be better endings to some stories
You've probably already heard this, but you are to CP77 what Camelworks is to Skyrim, very interesting videos that delve into the lore. Thanks for putting these out because I more or less glossed over most of the quests' deeper lore.
Cool compilation, thanks :) In the end you mentioned the reward from Regina. I never thought that, as they are remodeling how armor works in Phantom Liberty (or is it patch 1.7), they need to evaluate all and every weapon, and armor in the base game also, including these rewards. Massive job for the developers :)
Great video as usual, some really interesting things I didn't realise myself. On a side note I'm sure in the Smoke on the Water gig if you return later on to the site then you can see that MaxTac have landed and they are talking about Diego possibly being recruited.
Actually, Taki would not be zero'd before the city center cyberpsycho time. There is a link to get you to do all of Wacako's gigs before going to the city center. The first gig you do is sitting in your quest journal. Go get paid by Wacako. Following that it would be pretty easy to do all of her gigs before getting to the city center. I am going to see if there is any way to skip the Delamain start by just not going to the garage to pick up Roach. By the way, the cyber implant tattoo is to make it harder to kill tiger claws by missing them 90% of the time. It was in the description if you bother to read it after getting the "reward." I tend to go get the tattoo just before I let Johnny take the body "to talk to Rogue." He has it removed with the one he has placed on our wrist.
Bro the bloody ritual was creepy on my first playthrough! That random sound in the background like someone who vapes struggling to breath 😂 I remember it so clearly because I was watching a kid on twitch fight her but the poor guy was struggling hard to kill her 😭 luckily I got an idea how strong these freaks are
Another great video. I knew how some of these were connected, but some I guess I missed the relevant shards and missed the connection some of these had to each other or the wider world. Great work. Don't think you've done this idea yet, but if you have or already thought of it, disregard. But I was thinking a video where you talk about the various romance options and their related quests, and rank them would be fun and interesting. Mostly just to hear your thoughts and opinions on them. Always a fun topic of discussion.
I never actually thought too much about it personally, never read the shards not cared about them. I just got in knocked them all out with the non-lethal weapon from the Meredith encounter and got my reward and completely forgotten about the whole quest line. So it's fascinating to see the more indepth Annalise of it all. Thanks for covering this.
I'm glad Bloody Ritual was patched to be only played at night. I did the gig during the day before it was patched. it scary during the day but night is totally different
well done! very well explained and clear👏 and I didn't even played the game (potato computer unfortunately) 44:04 not the T posing 😂😂 anyway A+ deserved for the song reference too XD
I was actually diagnosed with schizophrenia, shortly after getting the game, and i haven't been able to get through the anime, because triggering (still trying however). But the difference between PTSD and psychosis is under PTSD, you feel the same kind and/or level of emotions that you experienced during the trauma, while under psychosis, one loses connection with reality. So, if you're "emotionally trapped" in "one place" in your mind, that could be where your brain makes you actually perceive you are in. It can be a truly terrifying event to experience
Norio Akuhara seems to be a fan Easter egg of Nozomi Okuhara, my favourite badminton player, hinted by the "swift flowing strikes to quickly take out opponents pretty instantly" 😮
My headcannon is that they got shipped to someone who will reprogram them for use them in a corpo paramilitary assault squad. Seems fitting with the "no happy endings" theme of Cyberpunk.
Thanks for finding all these connections. Though I do try to read all the lore when doing these missions, often they're so far apart in both location and when I tackle them that I don't make the connections between them.
Loved this video!🎉 Only one thing I’m not sure of…(39:50) Euralio Alma, the wasteland Psycho.. I’m fairly sure I’ve intercted with him during the Star ending… but I could be misrembering, its been awhile since I did that one..😅 anyways thanks for the video😊
This was great but you left out the arrival and clean up visuals for the Diego gig. If you return to the pier several hours later, Maxtac is on site doing clean up after taking him
Cyberpsychosis has alot of similarities to PTSD. I'm currently undergoing cognitive processing therapy for PTSD relating to my sister's death. Ptsd symptoms can range wildly from being on guard and alert, feeling like you're back in the situation that caused your ptsd, to having physical responses like you're back in the situation. There's alot more (being unable to sleep or stay asleep, lack of concentration, irritability, loss of interest in things you enjoy ect.) Cyberpsychosis is like instant ptsd for these people. Most of which have recently suffered something terrible such as "smoke on the water" and I think "house on the hill" in the badlands, both of which just lost children and family in gruesome and violent ways before their eyes. Cyberpsychosis also has a similar medical history as ptsd with originally it being believed neither can be cured. Only for a form of therapy to be developed that essentially does just this. Its getting long winded but ptsd doesn't just happen because something bad happens ptsd happens when you have thoughts that are forcing you to feel certain ways such as blaming yourself for someone's accident or telling yourself you're a bad person for things you did during wartime.
This questline was one of those times where I, as someone without knowledge of the TTRPG or its lore, started to piece together just what the heck was wrong with Johnny Silverhand. Paranoia? Check. PTSD? Check. Delusions of persecution? Check. Power fantasies? Check. Me: "Oh dear. I'm beginning to suspect the voice in my head has voices in his head. It's just voices all the way down, and they are all quite mad, in every sense of the word..."
I have found best way to deal with all these is use of System Reset quick hack. Non-lethal for Regina's bonus and if you can use it, it's one hit and done. Another route I took was to use Skippy in Puppy Loving mode and sometimes, the non-lethal baton.

diego was one of the creepiest fights for me at the time, I went to the pier at night and the pier was foggy, nothing else, just the pier, so walking along the trail of corpses not paying attention to what was going on story wise was creepy af in my eyes
those eerie heavy breathing sounds terrifies me first time i did bloody ritual quest. it's truly disturbing the first time with you clueless of what about to pop out. good thing Johnny is there.

😂 Imposing dominance mid fight is insane
I'm late to the party in regards to this channel (just subbed a few weeks ago) but I'm glad i found it!
Glad to have you here Choom!
This is an impressive amount of detail, very informative!
I'm pretty sure I've fought Lilith during the day most of the times I've done it.
Thanks for the great Cyberpsycho review Sam!
Letter of the Law is prime Killdozer material.
Excellent breakdown and summary!
For the guy in the badlands that did a gig for the vdbs, I personally thought it was connected to the vdb in pacifica that went psycho after he tried to fried a merc working for him, the merc survived and then netwatch found him
1 hour Cyberpunk video by Sam? Say no more
Enjoy Choom!
Good video idea. Love your stuff man
I feel like Maelstrom is the most vile gang when it comes to the bad stuff they do
id like to think everyone has a different thing to get them back from going cyberpsycho like love would work for them or help maybe but not for others clearly cause people have killed loved ones and what not. helps me think that there can be better endings to some stories
11:20 Thank you for going into this theory in detail. I love it.
Sam, I appreciate your videos because so many things happen in the game that I didn't even realize the connection between Lely and Tamara
You've probably already heard this, but you are to CP77 what Camelworks is to Skyrim, very interesting videos that delve into the lore. Thanks for putting these out because I more or less glossed over most of the quests' deeper lore.
You saved me hours of reading shard's, thanks very organized well done video.
I enjoyed this video and all the information
Sam my man, you’ve done it again. These are simply amazing.
"Preferably non-lethally" he says, staring at a burning corpse
Cool compilation, thanks :) In the end you mentioned the reward from Regina. I never thought that, as they are remodeling how armor works in Phantom Liberty (or is it patch 1.7), they need to evaluate all and every weapon, and armor in the base game also, including these rewards. Massive job for the developers :)
Great video as usual, some really interesting things I didn't realise myself.
On a side note I'm sure in the Smoke on the Water gig if you return later on to the site then you can see that MaxTac have landed and they are talking about Diego possibly being recruited.
That is indeed a common tactic. I think in-game Maximum Mike talks about former cyberpsychos being somehow mind wiped and joining up with MaxTac.
Diego T-posing to assert dominance at 44:04 lmao
Been waiting for this one, thanks Sam! :D
Enjoy Choom!
In Bloody Ritual, if you've listened to enough of Gary the Prophet's "sermons," you can end the convo with Regina by mentioning Techno-Necromancers.
It was in the description if you bother to read it after getting the "reward."
I tend to go get the tattoo just before I let Johnny take the body "to talk to Rogue." He has it removed with the one he has placed on our wrist.
Bro the bloody ritual was creepy on my first playthrough! That random sound in the background like someone who vapes struggling to breath 😂 I remember it so clearly because I was watching a kid on twitch fight her but the poor guy was struggling hard to kill her 😭 luckily I got an idea how strong these freaks are
Just sat down to do a bunch of gigs and this vid popped up let’s go
yo sam bram you are a genius hands down👑
imagine if you save that aldecaldo guy with an exo skeleton, he helps you out during the aldecaldo ending
I didn't even know you could save the cyberpsychos 😳
weird, I played Bloody Ritual when it wasn't dark. The quest was active anyway. But yeah, the atmosphere would be better at night
Great content bro
Thanks for this. I was too lazy to read all those shards.
26:09 the only thing you should fear than a man with everything Is a man with nothing to lose
Another banger, good stuff choom
Another great video. I knew how some of these were connected, but some I guess I missed the relevant shards and missed the connection some of these had to each other or the wider world. Great work.
Don't think you've done this idea yet, but if you have or already thought of it, disregard. But I was thinking a video where you talk about the various romance options and their related quests, and rank them would be fun and interesting. Mostly just to hear your thoughts and opinions on them. Always a fun topic of discussion.
You treat us so well with these videos, choomfie
I never actually thought too much about it personally, never read the shards not cared about them.
I just got in knocked them all out with the non-lethal weapon from the Meredith encounter and got my reward and completely forgotten about the whole quest line.
So it's fascinating to see the more indepth Annalise of it all.
Thanks for covering this.
I'm glad Bloody Ritual was patched to be only played at night. I did the gig during the day before it was patched. it scary during the day but night is totally different
well done! very well explained and clear👏 and I didn't even played the game (potato computer unfortunately)
44:04 not the T posing 😂😂
anyway A+ deserved for the song reference too XD
I was actually diagnosed with schizophrenia, shortly after getting the game, and i haven't been able to get through the anime, because triggering (still trying however). But the difference between PTSD and psychosis is under PTSD, you feel the same kind and/or level of emotions that you experienced during the trauma, while under psychosis, one loses connection with reality. So, if you're "emotionally trapped" in "one place" in your mind, that could be where your brain makes you actually perceive you are in. It can be a truly terrifying event to experience
I distinctly remember the cyberpsycho on a pier, who turned a mass shooter
Thank god for Sir John Phallustiff
That weapon makes these encounters a breeze
It's non lethal, it's brutal and it's hilarious
Norio Akuhara seems to be a fan Easter egg of Nozomi Okuhara, my favourite badminton player, hinted by the "swift flowing strikes to quickly take out opponents pretty instantly" 😮
hey yooo it's good day when Sam uploads! love yourd vids :3
I’m glad someone is willing to pay attention to these shards and stuff so we don’t have too
30:21
Bet you wanted to put Daredevil there before you realised the irony, lol
Goddamit, you're right I should've put daredevil there! Haha
Preeemm, I have been waiting for this
Enjoy choom!
For the wasteland gig, the mecha is extra weak to shock, which is why it had low health
This was great but you left out the arrival and clean up visuals for the Diego gig.
If you return to the pier several hours later, Maxtac is on site doing clean up after taking him
Absolutely love the way you cover these deep dive lore videos. Cyberpunk is just such a cool world. Cant wait for Phantom Liberty!
47:16 T-pose! :D
