My 1yo daughter just got what we think is fifths disease. It was not a conventional infection though, because she didn't get the "slapped cheek" rash until after her entire body was covered in red spots.
We initially thought it was hand, foot, mouth, cause it started with red dots on the wrist yesterday morning and progressed to red dots everywhere, including palms and soles of feet. She only had a few on her face yesterday. The anomaly was that she had zero spots, sores, blisters, etc. in her mouth and still has none today. None of her spots have turned to blisters either.
Her spots are now starting to cluster in certain areas. First the cheeks... they just turned solid red. Then the top of her back. Now the cheeks are fading a little. However she's getting new spots in areas that didn't have many before, including most recently the lower trunk and diaper area.
She pretty much acts normal... maybe a tad fussier than normal. She eats plenty, plays, walks, etc. She doesn't seem affected by the rash. She has no fever. She's had some runny nose and a bad sounding wet cough, but she's had that cough for months (she had rsv in November).
So does this sound like it is actually fifths? I will also note that my wife got sick with typical cold symptoms plus a dry cough and fatigue. I didn't get sick, but my knees have been hurting more than normal. I have bad knees though, and I've been working like crazy to prepare for my daughter's first birthday party on Saturday. So it might just be my body doing its normal thing and not joint pain from fifths disease.

Question: I encountered that Fifth dse. is under STANDARD precaution unless its indicated that the child is immunocompromised and hospitalized then it became DROPLET. - Confusing concept. How will we answer this correctly to our board? Kindly help. Thank you
