You should show the schematic diagram so that the people can understand. Nobody can predict if the wiring you show will work without schematic i can not understand this but anyway thanks for your effort.
Hi...please hurry up with the new sketch that includes the start - stop push button and the emergency button and a selection key with 3 position H-0-M (1-0-2)...It will be a complete sketch if you also include a switch key with 3-position (H-0-M) and also useful and also useful for manual operation.
Please sir, can you incorporate a switch into the ATS but the switch will be place inside the house and it can be used to put off the generator in the event that the generator turns on automatically when the grid goes off and the generator is not needed at the time
You can keep the generator control circuit breaker (230 volts) switched off during daytime. Also you can arrange another 2 pole breaker series to the generator side control circuit breaker at a convenient place. It can be kept switched off when you don't need the generator to be started on certain occasions.
@@ElectroAcademyEA thanks sir but give me the explanation on how to connect another double pole circuit breaker in series to the main generator double pole breaker
can you please explain how and what to add to the circuit to protect components like the contactors coils from main power issues like surges or brownouts etc. ? many thanks for the great video
You should have an Surge Protection Device and other protection devices such as Over Current Protection Device. Please get help from a good electrician on this.
Please, just give me a brief write up on how to used the stop and start button. Is it that if the generator turns on automatically and you don't need it at the time, you'll just push the stop button to turn off the generator?. Then, when you need to start the generator later again, you just push the start button and the generator turns on.. I'm i correct?
Connect the two green-marked 'Start' points on the ATS to the contact points of the generator's start push button. Similarly, connect the two red-marked 'Stop' points to the stop push button's contact points. When grid power is lost, the ATS will automatically bridge the start contacts, signaling the generator to start. When grid power is restored and the power is transferred back to the load, the ATS will activate the stop contacts to shut down the generator. Before making any connections on the generator side, consult the generator manufacturer to ensure compatibility and avoid potential malfunctions. It's also best to have a qualified electrician assist with these connections to ensure safety and proper setup.
@ElectroAcademyEA ok thanks. Now i understand. The green wire from the ATS is connected to the start button of the generator while the red is connected to the stop button of the generator.
Can this turn on a diesel generator automatically when the grid goes off. Also, for a diesel generator, is there any other component connected in side the generator to support the automatic changeover?
@@ElectroAcademyEA ok. I thought there should be a signal wire that should send signal to the diesel generator. For instance, in a small generator without battery and key starter, a signal wire is connected to the of and on button of the small generator and this helps to switch off the generator when the grid is restored. So for the diesel generator, is there no signal wire. However, I'll be glad if this connection turns on the generator automatically when the grid goes off. Thanks
@@ElectroAcademyEA please, is there and other connection done at the generator side to support the automatic changeover?. Because in the course of your explanation, you mentioned solenoid starter, so do i need to install a solenoid started in the generator so the ATS can work. Very good explanation...but I want to introduce a selection key with 3 position H-0-M (1-0-2)...how should I introduced it in electrical conexion? Please make a sketch with it.
Switch for automatic and manual position selection, and the emergency stop button connections are not shown here because the video is going to be too long. I'll make a short video soon, including all those connections.
@@ElectroAcademyEAthanks for this detailed explanation. The switch for Automatic/Manual with the emergency button would be amazing... can't wait.. keep up the great work.
Please, I have a question to ask and i need response sir . The Timer relay and DPDT relay you used for the start and stop of the generator, are they DC or AC
@ElectroAcademyEA wow! So if im designing this ATS im gonna get 12V DC timer and same 12V DC relay timer since they'll be powered by the generator's 12V battery. Also, it's obvious the timer, relay and contactors you used for the grid and generator supply are all AC components only the components powers by the generator battery are 12V DC

I know, it is some what complex and difficult to follow, because every thing has been included in a 15 minuet video.👀 Some areas, you need to pause the video or rewind it, to absorb the full explanation correctly. This video is done after uploading a simple video previously on the same topic. If you have not seen that video, you can go to the following link to watch it. ua-cam.com/video/WKh5D4jTwKQ/v-deo.html Thank you 🙂
The use of two contact open and do ATS, is not safe, when the current is large contact head temperature is high, so that the contacts fuse and can not be separated, the other switch on, the circuit will be made to safety hidden advantage. I encountered a situation is the motor from the Y connection to the delta hair, the above sexual condition, the result is the explosion of the switch.
When using magnetic contactors, you can introduce a safety relay to identify contact welding situations in it. Video on Below link explains how to fix a safety relay to a circuit. ua-cam.com/video/emp0T_kTsc4/v-deo.html
But I have a question... if one of the contactors get stuck, wouldn't the auxiliary contacts also get stuck? Or not necessarily? I'm asking this because if the interlocking is done between both contactors through the auxiliary contacts... wouldn't this be considered a safety layer or is a safety relay still needed?

Hi sir we have a 400V 3 phase generator with ATS, the time delay when a power supply is off is 30-35 secs. Is that okay?
A 30-35 second time delay for an ATS to activate after a power supply failure is generally considered acceptable.
Would you please share the single line diagram sir? thankyou
