That explains why they're such _angry_ little bastards. Nothing in the world can be angry like a bluejay or a raven can be angry, as an intelligent little being with no thumbs. You tip over their feeder _one time,_ on accident, and they hate you for two generations. I finally made amends with fistfuls of peanuts.
I'm from Europe and did a student exchange in New Jersey when i was a teenager. I swear one of the things i remember the most is these screaming non stop and not knowing which bird it was. It drove me crazy. More than 10 years later i've just discovered what they were. I find it hilarious how such a FABULOUS bird can sound so jarring, haha
Blue jays are gorgeous-looking birds, so incredible smart, brave, ferocious. Blue jays are excellent at alerting other animals with sharp calls, of impending danger, predators like hawks, eagles. They are kings of birdfeeders and backyards. Beautiful video :)

We use peanuts as well. Daily we see cardinals, blue jays, downy, and Carolina wren. Rare occasions we have blue birds, and some kind of red-necked crow looking bird lol. Can't recall the name.
Marlena Linne haha me too, well not exactly, it’s actually late here- but there’s two blue jays who come to my feeder and one of them sounds the exact same. I played this video and my mom was like “what the? The blue jays calling out this late!?”
Yes! Mine are so well trained after years of feedings that when I open my back door to let the dog out in the morning they swoop in and start yelling at me to fill the nut basket.

Blue Jays can speak words, not just mimic them, & sounds as well, just like a parrot, my dad passed away 7/11/2022 and dad and mom raised blue Jay from birth when they rescued him out of the mouth from a stray cat, the other day we brought dads ashes home, & "Jay-Jay" spoke clearily when I myself heard him say " I know " " I know" after mom had cried & said " I miss my husband "

I have been putting hand fulls of almonds out in the morning for the squirrels for some time now. Usually within a half an hour to an hour the almonds are all gone. Lately I noticed all the almonds are gone within 10 mins or less. I was like WTF ! There is no way these squirrels can eat and take all these almonds this fast. So I watched and found out the mystery. BLUE JAYS!! They are so beautiful. I am starting to feel like Cinderella in the mornings with all the squirrels and now blue jays out on my deck waiting for their morning treat.
The same thing happens in my backyard! My mom sets out peanuts and various squirrelfeed for the squirrels, but those blue jays always snag up most of the unshelled ones.
Blue Jays are always wanting to talk to the manager. 😂They are my favorite birds every since I was a girl. One ate a peanut from my hand afters days on working on its trust. That was so cool. Seven year old me thought that was the best experience ever!

They sing too. Sounds like a whistle song.

What harm would a bluejay do to a dog?
How sad for such an innocent, formidable creature. 😭 Men themselves will one day destroy this planet.
Did you ever consider your dog was in the bird's territory? Feel like a tough guy, eh? The bird's spirit will live in your conscious.
