As a recovering button masher, I'm just stuck wondering how I'm supposed to remember everything to the point it comes naturally. Like "in this situation I need to take a split-second step backwards then hit that attack into this combination". Especially remembering the exact ranges of different attacks by different characters and the little movements forwards or backwards that may be necessary to make certain attacks work. It's intimidating, like learning a language.
Haha I definitely understand all that, I'd say the best way to learn is to have fun with it and try and just focus on improving at one specific thing each time you start playing. Like landing a certain combo, blocking more after you get knocked down, anti airing(Sakura's crouching Heavy Punch is her main anti air for instance), etc. I think as long as you learn this way, you can develop your skill fairly easily, just like with any skill. :) Good luck!
I am a super diamond Sakura. I like V skill I + V Trigger II. I anti-air with crouching HP then cancel into V skill I then air throw. Once you land an air throw, you can dash in and press MP, which is an Oki that no one knows. The pro for V trigger 2 is that you can convert a light button, like standing light kick or crouching LK+LP, into massive damage.
Thanks, lots of stuff I didn't know (well), even though I've mained Sakura since the beginning. I'm not that great a player but still. In terms of content, anything Sakura is great with me;)
@@pipoper101 The way dude says her name. It’s bastardized. When you choose the characters at character select it says her name correctly. People often mispronounce Karin too and say Karen.
I'm wondering if there are situations in which you'd want to switch up VT1/VS2 and VT2/VS1, or if each works for any matchup and it's just style preference. Personally, I used VT2/VS1 for my entire climb up to Super Gold (because back then VS2 didn't exist yet), mostly because I liked its invulnerable meterless DP that could cancel into super and the punish combo of tatsu-divekick-DP. Later after the Champion Edition buffs, I can see the uses of VT1/VS2 now, but I don't know if I should stick with one or the other or if I can get an edge by swapping between them depending on who my opponent at the moment is.
question why is the buttons so confusing i play on the PC with an Xbox controller, and its not like Tekken where the list of moves are straight forward X A Y B, but in SFV its like icons and Vskill Vtrigger+fist icon. WTF do i do with this?
Ughh, as much as I want to get into the VS2+VT1 combo, I just absolute can't for the life of me get the timing down for getting the DP cancel out of VS2. The timing just feels way too arbitrarily precise; you do it too early and for whatever dipshit reason it doesn't come out at all, but you do it too late and it whiffs despite it looking like if it were real life it would still hit like the models collide with each other still. Just can't get that fucking timing down, though I'm sure playing pad doesn't make that easier.
Yo Alex, we chatted about SFIV a few months ago. Do you still play? I've been getting better and always liked watching your Sakura, I'd love to play you some time
Hello Alex. I am also a Sakura player for quite a long time in SFV. I found myself cannot input st.MP-->back.HP-->HP shouoken combo consistently. I have high chance to lose combo between st.MP-->back.HP. I am using PC and Razer Panthera fighting stick, so I don't believe I have any big input delay issue. Would you please share your idea on my case?
Hello! Just make sure as soon as you're done hitting st.mp, that you're holding back + hit HP. You wanna wait for Sakura's st.mp to finish coming back into her body, that's how you know the move is over and how to time your follow up. Sounds like you're just mistiming it! Good luck!
Either you pronounce her name wrong or everyone else I’ve ever heard say it including the game itself says it wrong. Lol wait 12:38 mark you started saying it correctly. I must just be out the loop. Regardless nice guide.
Please tell me, I saw your video on chunli and sometimes u did the kikoken and spinning bird kick so fast just After a hit, how ?? I need to charge 2seconds without doing anything
It's pretty hard, but you want to do start off by charging cr.lp, you can for instance dash -> hold down back + cr.lp -> hit up back -> down back and hit st.mp. This will allow you to keep your charge and get a st.mp in between your up back & down back input, instead of getting jump back MP when you hit up back. You then do cr.mk -> HP kikoken. This is how you do what you saw me doing, this also works for the faster Spinning Bird Kicks you'd see me do. Good luck! I know it's complicated, but try and just follow my instructions closely and make sure you're basically holding back while doing up back -> down back + mp and that you get st.mp there, instead of jump back mp or slide. Good luck!

Wow, I watched this video and went from Bronze to Diamond in one day. Thanks, Alex Meyers.
Yeah! I've been waiting for this!
Hell yeah! That makes me happy to hear haha
I literally just made a secondary account yesterday just to play/learn Sakura. Perfect timing!
this video may be helpful one day when i can get over how you pronounce Sakura
i don't even play sakura, but if this guide WILL help me rank up in sfv, i have no choice but to watch
Oh, you’re back!
Hope you’re doing great ❤️❤️

I’m coming into sf5 very late in the games lifespan thanks for the vid

thank you
Loved the guide! Gonna try hard to improve ✌️

I hope it helps! There's a good amount to unpack, but just enough so it's no overwhelming. Good luck!
Not a rookie but a rookie with Sakura! Thanks for the guide! Ryus are impossible
If you do a part two, I'd love to see some Hogasho stuff for VT1. Great video!
We already cut it up, but I believe there is Hogasho stuff in there! Thanks for watching!

woah...
Great video ! i actually needed a new vtrigger activation because ex tatsu into VT was getting very predictable
I think that's her best activation actually! Try to do it off cr.mk -> ex tatsu to be safer!
people say “sucker-uh” and “karen” like the announcer doesn’t say their name correctly every time you pick them
